I was looking for a place that had hot dogs and a Michelada (with shrimp). Beyond all expectations I managed to find a place that had just that. I was not disappointed either! The hot dogs were absolutely delicious and the Michelada came with two shrimps and was tasty. It's setup that you wait in a line and order at the front, then find a seat and they will bring your food out to you. It must have been an off night or something happened in that it was a long wait in line to order and a bit of a wait for the food. That said, I would still make the wait as I really liked the hot dogs. The tamales are quite tasty as well!

Update Jan 2020 So latest update : Ruby the original owner has sold this establishment to her sister and the new name is "Tustacos Taqueria"I can attest only name is new, the food is still as before - ah-mazing ———————————- We had tasted the tamales from Ruby's around 6 years ago in the mini farmers' market at Kaiser Sunnyvale. We instants loved them and swore to try their other fare when we could. Fast forward 6 years, this afternoon, we were watching "Check Please, Bay Area" which aired some great Mexican restaurant and we immediately recollected Ruby,so decided to go there for lunch. Tucked inside Quito Center - a quiet strip mall in Saratoga, with ample parking, we felt it is the ideal weekend lazy lunch place. We started off with 2 Tamales - the green Chicken and the Chicken n Veggies and were glad to note they have maintained their quality and standards over the years. Next we tried the fish Taco - Ruby did mention that she was out of the the regular taco tortilla, so we got a real huge taco! The taste was amazing and the fish was pan fried to perfection! Along with the fresh veggies and pico de gayo , it was very very tasty. Next we decided to try something very different , so ordered the Beef Posole- A hearty and HUGE bowl of beef and Hominy Stew. Beef was cooked perfectly and tender while the hominy was just perfect carb company for the protein! We were stuffed by the time we finished it. And to wash it all down, we had the Agua Fresca made from Pineapple. Just perfect! All for under $30. A fantastic value for money too!

Excellent food. Had the Caldo de Camerones and a Camerones taco. The taco was one of the best I've had and didn't have tons of sauce masking the deliciously grilled shrimp. The soup was excellent too, with tons of shrimp and chunks of veggies. I'll be back.

These tamales are great! I was a little disappointed that they were out of the sweet and green chicken tamales but I get ones they did have available were great. Tamales were a little smaller than I was used to but other than that, I would recommend this place.

Love their breakfast burrito. It's so big I eat it all day. I've also had the tamales, amazing. However, do NOT try their margaritas. We took one sip and tossed them. Prices are very responsible

The. Best. Tamales. How many tamales are appropriate to eat in one sitting? Is it a thousand? (Sadly not.) But if you're eating them at Ruby's, that's how many you will want to attempt. I hear very good things about the tacos here, but I can't speak to that, because the only thing I've ever had are the excellent, delicious, amazing tamales. Spicy green chicken is my favorite, but the jalapeño and cheese are also rich and delicious. I go out of my way for Ruby's tamales, I will battle rush hour traffic for Ruby's tamales, basically... don't try to come between me and Ruby's tamales. If it's fall/winter or especially around Thanksgiving or Christmas, it may be hard to acquire tamales here... they fly out the door in large holiday orders, and the kind ladies behind the counter tell me they're cold- and rainy-weather comfort food, so don't be disappointed if they're sold out in the evening. Just come early, or place your own big to-go order before they're gone.

First I want to mention that they recently changed the name, I cant remember what the new name is but it scared me when I went last time and I thought they had closed. It is the same people, same menu, same food, just a new name. I stumbled on this place by accident when I was working nearby and craving tacos. The carne asada tacos are AMAZING, best I've had in the bay area! Simple street tacos with chopped carne asada, cilantro and onion. The beans and rice are also delicious and authentic tasting. I was there pretty early for lunch and right after I ordered the place filled up, mostly Mexican people so I figured I was in for a good lunch and I was right! I've gone back 3 or 4 times and although I've always ordered the same taco plate the people I've taken have ordered burritos, nachos, taco salads, etc and they have all agreed that it was amazing! Anytime I am in the area and hungry this is my go to spot! Go check it out, you wont be disappointed!
