SO SO SO SO GOOD !. Get the peanut chicken (Pannang?) Totally worth the parking hassle.
Nice place. I really liked the Tom Yum Soup and the Garlic & Black Pepper Beef was ok. Likely better than I describe, I’m not really a lover of Thai food. The restaurant is nice. They have the tables with carved scenes covered with glass. We sat by the window and watched the people walking by. Service was fine throughout the meal. We have eaten here several times over the years and have never been disappointed.
Love it!. We have been eating at Tropical Thai for years! We try to go for lunch since the dinner portions are huge. Lunch is usually $7.95 and you get your entree, their house soup and house salad. I don't know what the dressing is they put on their house salad but it's amazing and I haven't been able to find anything like it. The lunch portions aren't huge but are big enough that we still usually have leftovers. Very nice atmosphere and the staff is great too. I recommend the Amazing chicken, my husband usually gets the sweet and sour shrimp.
Huge vegetarian menu. Save a little money and go for the lunch specials.
Overall, we both really liked this restaurant a lot. There were some detractions but also several things that really stood out.
Went in for Thai food, left with nostalgia and a desire to order 3 more plates of pad Thai. I grew up in Thailand, spending 17 years of my adolescent life there, so believe me when I say this pad Thai was *authentic*. Served by an adorable old Thai lady who is happy to tell you how her kids are doing, the pad Thai here was phenomenal. I got the sea food option but I would go for any protein really. Whole-in-the-wall sort of place without and fancy stuff; but that’s when you knows the food will be good 😉
Hope this review gets you there and fulfills your dreams. Also had ice cream after to finish off the evening 👍🏾
Was recommended by my Airbnb host and hence tried. Ordered yellow curry and rice (vegan). Food was good. Served quick. Service requests were attended quick. Place was clean and nice, but not extravagant or modern though. Portion size was on the smaller side, especially given the price. I ordered extra cup of rice. I was very hungry and ate it all. Before tip, the check was $20.50 (slightly on the higher side).
We came here while we were visiting Sarasota about a year ago and it was a lovely surprise. We came back this year and the food is still delicious! Everything was (and still is) so good! The owner is really nice. If you're in the area I definitely recommend it!
Our favorite restaurant moved to a different location downtown Sarasota! Same tables and same amazing Thai food & service. Go see Pona and enjoy. We took the children and they loved it. Get the orange Chai tea!
I am vegan and I love Thai food but wasn’t too impressed with taste of the dishes.
My partner and I ordered COCONUT SOUP with vegetables, PANANG CURRY and MUSAMAN CURRY, RAD-NAR NOODLES. I asked for everything to be moderate spicy.
I didn’t like coconut soup as much as usually from other Thai places. Also, the PANANG curry and noodles were super spicy, definitely more than moderate to my taste. Also, the noodle portion was relatively small with not much noodles on the plate, mostly veggies.
On the upside, the servant lady was great, polite and accommodating.
I wouldn’t come back to this place, but it definitely not the worse I visited.
The Thai food 😋 is delcoius!
The owner Pona was an incredible hostess!
This is a hidden gem 💎 in downtown Sarasota.
Come and experience for yourself! 😊
I was visiting my friends in Sarasota and they took me here for lunch so I could get some Asian flavors. Small restaurant. The atmosphere is somewhat cozy. We ordered a few dishes like soft shell crabs, duck salad was excellent, the meat was not dry and the crunchiness of the skin made it good. We all so got seafood pad Thai and was very flavorful. And some shushi. Definitely recommending to come try and see for your self. They close?afound 3-4
This quaint little place is absolutely amazing! The food was absolutely incredible and the owner was so sweet and attentive! My son said it was the best fried rice, hubby loved his Pad Thai and I was thrilled that my favorite dish Pad Woonsen was so delicious! Will absolutely be returning and wish we had tried it sooner!

Food is excellent. Locally owned and has been here for several years. The owner came a talked to our party of 6 and was delightful.
Had a hot busy day exploring Sarasota. We wefe super hungry and decided to eat here based on reviews. Let me just tell youuu!! The food here was amazing. This mom and pops restaurant really excels at their dishes. Price is reasonable in this inflation, and the waitress was the owner, so you know she was top notch. I had the spicy wide noodles, and my girlfriend had the wide noodles with brown sauce. Just thinking about the dishes again makes me hungry. 10/10 will visit again.
