Mediterraneo the ‘go to’ quintessential Italian restaurant in Sarasota. Always top-notch. I have been coming here for years and it never disappoints. Alessandro, greets you at the door with a hug and a kiss and treat you like family. Tonight I sat at the bar and that’s always a treat because you watch Bruno who is a master at making his Neapolitan pizzas in the woodfired oven. You talk a little Italian with him and it’s just like you’re back in the old country. Adam, the bartender, provides exceptional service which usually includes a complementary limoncello at the end of the evening. You really can’t beat this place. I highly recommend it when you are in Sarasota if you want fine Italian dining.

Service was exceptional! Me and my boyfriend went, we are college students so sometimes at nice restaurants we feel judged. We have in the past with other restaurants have been sat far from people and haven’t gotten amazing service. But this place was amazing! Food was amazing and the staff was so sweet!

This is an incredible Italian restaurant. We live in the St Augustine area and travel to the Clearwater area frequently. Everytime we do we dine at Mediterraneo and we have never been disappointed with our choice. The food is delicious from the appetizers to entrees to their desserts. This time was no different. We had the grilled calamari and meatball appetizers which were great. The five of us ordered five different meals and they were all amazing. For dessert we had the Italian pudding, the ice cream sundae with black cherries and tiramisu which were all delicious and not too sweet. Food was absolutely delicious! The atmosphere was fabulous. It was disturbed a bit by a guest who was being unkind to one of the servers, but that’s not the restaurant’s fault. My husband and I were enthusiastically discussing how this would be our new place because despite the amazing ambiance, the restaurant had decent prices. The lunch prices of our meals according to the menu were $16.50 and $18.50. Then we received the bill and were charged over $24 for each dish despite the lunch prices on the menu provided. It was about 1:30 in the afternoon, but it appears we were charged dinner prices. As we were rushing to catch a movie, we didn’t have time to get the bill corrected, but it has made us think twice about returning. Seemed a bit shady.

Went here after a dear friend from Italy recommended it. Now if an Italian from Italy tells me to go I'm going! He was right! Everything was perfect! Service was tip top! Bar cocktails were very good. We got the meatball appetizer and a special that was tomatoes with Burrata mozzarella and sliced avocados. My daughter said they were the best meatballs she ever had. I was a little taken aback because that meant she liked them more than mine! I had the squid ink spaghetti with shrimp in a spicy tomato sauce. It was incredible! I'd definitely get it again! My daughter had the spaghetti carbonara and that too was outstanding. Unfortunately we had no room for dessert which I regretted. Especially when I was told they had a chocolate Napoleon! Next time.

Have been here several times. Pizza is great. Thin crust, crispy, many choices. Main courses are very good too, many options. Good specials. Service is top. Big restaurant. Always full but everything runs smoothly.

This beautiful restaurant has been a family staple for decades. Not just because the food is consistently outstanding but the staff is friendly, efficient and accomodating. When I need a restaurant for a special event like a birthday, this is my go-to spot because I know everyone will leave full and happy.

Wow was this place packed! It's huge inside and goes back pretty fair, has a patio for outdoor seating, and a good sized bar. Every seat was taken. Good for them.....not so good for us.
We opted to sit outside and it took over 20 minutes for someone to come to the table. When they did come over, my husband was in the rest room and the server asked me if I was ready to order. We didn't even have menus. We were brought bread and water and when I asked the gentleman what he likes to eat, he shook his head and left. At that point it started raining sideways and were getting soaked. We ran inside and managed to get 2 seats at the end of the bar. There was 1 bartender managing the entire place.....I don't even know how he did it but props to him. He made drinks fast and didn't compromise taste with them. He was a super star.
We managed to get an app ...the arancini or rice balls and they were hot and yummy. The bread and dips were also.
We never saw another server again after that and we wrapped our night up.... it was a fail. The place smelled amazing and we were disappointed to not have had the chance to eat more. I'm not sure if they were short staffed becuase no one communicated....it was unorganized chaos inside.
We will probably give them another chance becuase the menu looks and smells amazing. They were slamming for a reason!

Authentic incredible Italian restaurant with a great atmosphere and superior service. What more could one ask for? The food was absolutely delicious and the home made Tiramisu was out of this world.
I was torn between ordering pasta which looked phenomenal and the Osso Bucco. I did not regret my decision. Fall off the bone mouth watering and delightful. I will have to come back to try the pasta and pizza.

Very nice restaurant with attentive staff and very flavorful food. The bread is delicious and baked in house. The pizza is great, made in a proper stone oven and with Italian flour. Make sure you make room to eat a lot, it will be worth it!
