I’m so glad I found this hidden gem! The service was great, the food was amazing, and I really enjoyed sitting out on the patio, since it’s such a quaint, quiet area of Sarasota! I can’t wait to return!
My brother and I loved Fresh Start so much that we went there for brunch twice on our vacation to Sarasota. During my first visit, I ordered the green eggs and ham frittata. The herbs were so fresh and paired well with the ham. A piece of toast and strawberry butter came with the frittata. The strawberry butter was extremely delicious and refreshing. On our second visit, I ordered the poached eggs over prosciutto. This dish was delicious, but wasn't too heavy. I highly recommend Fresh Start!!! You must go!!!
Everything I've eaten at Fresh Start was delicious. Fresh, clean food and good vibes on the side. Dog friendly patio and the owners are wonderful. When in Sarasota, don't miss Fresh Start.
I love this place. The food is fantastic-better pick whether you want sweet or savory before you arrive, or you will never be able to pick one thing to eat! And if you like friendly, fast, congenial, and detail oriented service, you have hit the jackpot. I will be here, a lot!

Had the most amazing lunch! Cold Borscht soup and then the Mediterranean platter, followed by a French press coffee. Really, fresh and yummy and beautifully plated. Love this place.
This restaurant gets a solid 10! On a Sunday afternoon at 1 pm, we had a short wait. The staff was brilliant, very informative, patient, friendly. And The Food- It was incredible! I had the Reuben salmon sandwich. It was THE BEST reuben I have ever had! Not sure how I didn't know about this place, but I will be back! And soon!!
First Time here and everything was a pleasant experience. I love the menu options, the patio area, the staff and the great food. Definitely a place to keep in mind next time in Sarasota.

I enjoyed this place. My family enjoyed the place. We have eaten inside and outside and it is wonderful. Full warning. You are in Florida and there is a possibility for bugs if you eat outside.
Pros: Great food, excellent server (Andre) when he was at the table. Just overall joyful place to eat with your family. They allows dogs outside so that was cool that the different dogs were there as well.
Andre no longer works here but the other servers are wonderful as well.
Recommended: Most definitely. Whether you are visiting or live here, stop into the Fresh Start Café and try their food.
Cons: Food may take an extremely long time to get to the table. Don't expect quick delivery. It is well worth the wait.
If you have a severe dog allergy, this may not be the place for you or eat inside.
My family and I will be back here.

We came here from Colorado and were extremely happy with Fresh Start Cafe. The owner is very friendly, professional and courteous. Definitely one of the best places we've eaten on this trip. Highly recommended.
This downtown European style cafe, located in the Burns Court district, is an excellent choice for breakfast or lunch. They offer sandwiches to frittatas using all fresh breads, fruits, meats, cheeses, and vegetables for a mouth-watering experience, with indoor and outdoor dining. We had lunch in the outdoor dining area. All the outdoor tables had ample umbrellas providing shade and the plenty of palm trees and vegetation to enjoy. I had the Turkey, Bacon Avocado sandwich that had great flavor and freshly made. My son ordered their Breakfast Burrito and he loved it. Great overall lunch experience and we will be back to try their dinner service.
Nice ambiance. Friendly and prompt staff. High quality, presentable food. Definitely a 5 star food joint but at $15 for a breakfast burrito it is quite pricey.

What to say about Fresh Start Cafe?
Well, it really gave us a fresh start, literally.
All ingredients taste so fresh, especially the fruit, which usually is described as fresh on many other breakfast restaurants and it really isn't. Not here, and I enjoyed every piece of fresh fruit.
The environment is great, well lit, and it's funny buy it's the first restaurant I go to that has more outside seating than inside, which made it looked super packed, as everyone was inside escaping the scalding got Florida mid-day sun. The location is great, in the clean and quaint downtown Sarasota, and around a 6 minute walk from our hotel.
We had the build-your-own frittata, which is BAKED, with the side salad, and the special of the day, which was a LOBSTER salad (NO Mayonnaise 🙂) on a Hawaiian roll, and let me tell you, that was some GREAT lobster!
The coffee was great but they need to offer other milk options like coconut, almond or even oat, as they only had soy. But no problem because it was the best regular brew coffee we have had.
For dessert we had a homemade apple crumble muffin that was not gluten free but it was delicious and had little sugar and didn't make us feel bloated. They have other options for all tastes.
You gotta try it, oh, and it's family owned and operated so great job guys!!!
I was looking for an easy place to bring six people and a baby. The menu online had a good variety and I figured this place would be acceptable. It turned out, as we all agreed, to be exceptional! Everything was fresh and homemade. We had three of the six soups of the day and they were each phenomenal, and served with a piece of baguette that reminded me of a cafe in Paris. I had the apricot glazed salmon salad and it was generously portioned and perfectly cooked. The desserts looked fantastic and I would try them next time for sure.
Fresh and yummy pastries. I enjoyed the bagel toasted with butter.. Their strawberry butter is a must-try. Lots of seating inside and outside. The employees were great.. very friendly and accommodating. My husband enjoyed the pastries and coffee.
We truly enjoyed our dining experience on their outdoor patio. The staff was super friendly and very accommodating of our dog. They even brought her water! Our meals were delicious. We didn't wait long even though it was busy. We were checked on several times and well taken care of. The staff all wore masks as well. Overall we had an extremely pleasant brunch and would definitely go back.
Upon arrival, we were greeted and told to sit where we like. We sat outside, which was very pleasant with foliage around us & umbrellas to keep us shaded. They were very busy & took our order in a timely manner. Wait was not too bad for the amount of people there. Once we received our food that was the last time we saw our server. The food was very delicious and tasty. We made the best of not having anyone refill my coffee as well as never checking with us to see if we needed anything or how the food was. It was very busy & no reason to make it into a negative thing. We understand you get in the weeds sometime. We all have to be more patient & look at the good things. Thanks for the great breakfast. We hope the service will become a better experience in the future.
Me and my husband were visiting Sarasota and for our last 2 days we had breakfast here. The place is pretty packed in the morning but for good reason. We had the same thing both days because it was that good. The staff is super nice and is just a really nice vibe. 15/10 💖
Had a super delicious lunch and would happily revisit over and over again. Even the side salads included with sandwiches were inspired, with pumpkin seeds and dried cranberries. I can't wait to try more next time!
We brought some pastries home, and while delicious, the cooking here is definitely better than the baking.
Fresh Start is our happy place.
The lovely Hanna (the owner & chef) took our order. We shared with her how much my grandmother, who recently passed, loved this place and their incredibly delicious cheese blintzes. I got them in her honor and loved them soooo much. Perfection. And the patio is our favorite outdoor seating in Sarasota!!!
We will be back again and again.
Their breakfast was fantastic. I under estimated their dessert, my wife had a gluten free cupcake and enjoyed it, while I had a slice of some apple cake, that was unbelievable! You must stop into this place. 💙
Today was our first visit for lunch and couldn’t have been more pleased! The menu choices were excellent with some unusual soups and sandwiches. The chef owner was superb. Our wait staff included Etian and he was friendly, most helpful.

Stumbled into this great little spot when in Sarasota. Great outdoor tables under umbrellas and trees. Lox and Bagel was great. Highly recommended.
