Not sure what the low ratings are for, this place is great!! The Sweet & Sour Chicken was amazing, with a very light breading so it wasn't heavy with excess. There was no taste of anything else cooked in the oil or anything weird like that. The portions were what you would expect for the price. So, call this a fake review or whatever, but the majority of people have the same experience I did, so read into negative reviews carefully.

This restaurant is getting false reviews! Probably the worst Chinese restaurant I ever ate at. Im really not exaggerating. They use the oil they cook seafood in to cook meat in. If you have allergies watch out! The kung pao chicken was a joke! It tasted fishy and they didn't even use garlic or ginger. Please! I beg everyone! Don't waste your money. I wish I could give this place negative 3 stars. The people who like this place don't know any better or they are giving false reviews😝

The lady that works there was the nicest person I've ever met. When I got in the car with my family and waited for our takeout, she asked if we were going to eat here or at home. We said we are eating at home in fresno. She was shocked and offered us seats inside the restaurant so we can eat there instead of traveling for 3 hours to eat. We enjoyed a delicious meal and were even offered to use the restroom if we had to. I hope to see more people in the world like the nice lady. Truly a heartwarming experience.

Went back here after a long hiatus, and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and freshness of the food. Had sesame chicken which was well flavored, crispy, and tangy; chow fun with black bean sauce; and wok-fried green beans. Prices were also very reasonable at about $30 for everything.

The service was really fast (hence the 2 stars) and the customer service was good. The chicken quality was not good, and the portion sizes were extremely small. The egg rolls were spring rolls, and dumplings seemed like they were frozen. Too expensive for what I actually received. Probably will not come back here.

Chef Mings is an off the beaten path gem of a restaurant with a long standing and loyal clientele. All of the food is delicious and obviously prepared with so much love and care! Whether or not you are a vegetarian the tangerine tofu is a must try! Over the course of 20 years I have taken many family and friends there who also became fans not only of the restaurant but quite specifically of this dish--personally I have packed it in ice and brought it home in my checked luggage after having moved away from the Bay Area. Chef Ming and his wife Diana are both incredibly kind warm-hearted people. I'm a total foodie and this place ranks right up there! I always try to visit if possible when I am back in California. It is well worth going out of your way for. Highly recommend!

Technical issues abounded. Sweet and sour chicken was served to us with fermented taste in the pineapple—strongly suspect that it was not wine-soaked but was instead just spoiled. Very much ruined the rest of the flavors of that dish. Fried banana was I think fried at too low a temperature so the breading absorbed too much grease. Beef chow fun noodles were way overcooked which I have never experienced before—think noodles with the texture of mashed potatoes—and was bland in color, bland in flavor. Wok-fried string beans appear to have had something fried in the wok first that shouldn't have been—maybe garlic—which burned in an unpleasant flavor at the back of the tongue, but the beans were otherwise well-put-together and that unpleasant aftertaste was not a deal-breaker. Egg rolls were a little bland and oily but were mostly average. Rice was well-cooked and fluffy but had a slight metallic aftertaste which might be fixed by filtering the water before cooking with it. We caught chef Ming on a day where he was off his game, it seems.

What a great find! When looking for Chinese food in San Jose/Santa Clara area it's literally everywhere so hard to go through reviews and find a great spot. I'm so happy to have found this one the food was amazing. Potstickers were so good. Some of the best egg foo young I've ever had. I've actually gone to some places and ordered egg foo young and what they gave me was closer to mu shu. Tangerine chicken was great too. Also if you're in a doubt about Chinese food places this one has the best service. The people obviously know their regulars by name and knew it was our first time but treated us like everyone else. Will definitely have to come back!
