This place exceeded my expectations! Everything on the menu looked so good I had a hard time choosing. If you're unsure of what to order or want to try a variety of Javanese food definitely go with the combination plate. It's a ton of food, enough to share or take home leftovers, and you get to try different sorts of meats, rice, noodles, etc (see the photo!).
I’ve been dying to try this place and it did not disappoint! I love that they have street food dishes from different parts of Asia.
Service was friendly and the ambiance was casual and comfortable! You can even get a couple of things from the shelf (presented like a grocery store shelf) that are Asian street snacks, or treats that are popular in Asia. LOVED their greens 🥬 plate and their Thai Iced Tea was wonderfully presented and the taste matched it perfectly!
Since we miss Malay and Singaporean food, this place is the only one we found that has some great foods.
The appetizer was the chicken satay. Perfection!
I tried the Singaporean noodles, and while I don't manage well spices, it was a bit for my taste. It was delicious.
My husband ordered the ginger fish. Absolutely delish! I wish I ordered myself. Came with a white rice cup and it was the perfect companion for the meal.
This food was so yummy! The Laksa was so flavorful and filling! We also ordered the spring rolls and a glass noodle dish with chicken and shrimp (I can’t remember the name). Both were good! We got seated right away it being a weekday during lunch time. Staff was very efficient.
After such a pretty long wait, we're so excited to finally eat Indonesian food at Makanmakan! The food was pretty good; the satay was great with peanut sauce, my American friend liked it a lot, the rendang was fine, but it was a bit salty and their sambal terasi was superb, but the drink (es campur) didn't taste as authentic as I thought it'd be. Not to mention, the staff were very friendly and communicative!!
I'd recommend this place for those craving or missing Asian tastes!! 8.5/10👍
Food was soooo good. A good mix of different Asian cuisine through varying countries of the southeast. I left here SO full and SO satisfied, will definitely be coming back for more
Hands down one of the best and authentic Indonesian restaurants I’ve ever tried in the US. The cooks are just so talented and you can tell the love in their food. I was on a road trip from Portland, OR to Nashville, TN and it was a right choice to stop by SLC and try this place out. I was wondering why there’s an Indonesian restaurant in Utah where I don’t think has that many Indonesian population. However, all in all this place is amazing recommended by an Indonesian. Ohh one more thing price to portion is incredible you can feed the whole family with just one or two dish. We had 6 different dishes and it only costs around eighty bucks.
This place has an excellent blend of east Asian cuisines. Large portions, good quality and just overall great food. Each dish is rich in spices and ingredients so if you like plain food this is not the place for you. Highly recommend!
I dined in here with a group of 5 including a baby. The service was phenomenal! Our server Aubrey was very attentive and got all our order correctly! The food tasted really good. I got red curry w fish it’s breaded and fried to its perfection!! Their Chinese broccoli dish is really good too. We also got our desserts!! Everything was amazing. Luckily we didn’t have to make a reservation :))) we will definitely go back!
Makanmakan is so good! Literally every item we ordered at the table was great. From firecracker basil chicken, to the beef shortrib, to fish curry, and definitely to the Thai iced tea. We ordered some roti, and ended up ordering 2 more orders of it because of how good it was!! I can't believe I waited so long to come here. Will definitely be back.
