Inexpensive sushi - $1 per piece during weekday lunch hours, $1.25 for 3 pieces of either the California or avocado roll (plus a bunch of small maki rolls), and $2.95 for hand rolls. Not sure why the spicy tuna roll was not on the lunch special, but can be had for $4.50, which may be the cheapest in San Mateo downtown.
Spicy tuna hand roll wasn't great, as the tuna wasn't mashed enough and it wasn't very spicy, but the salmon pieces and the California rolls were decent.
The Cajun roll was tasty.
Their nabeyaki udon ($8.95) wasn't very flavorful and only had spinach, peppered chicken, tempura, and egg, but not fish cakes, which I missed, though it does come with a side salad with good dressing.
I heard the sushi chef speak Cantonese at the sushi bar, and they take credit.

Great sushi happy hour! Perfect little place if you are in downtown san mateo and are meeting a friend or colleague. Friendly service! I recommend sitting at the sushi bar.

CLOSED PERMANENTLY as of November 2013. I was very disappointed to discover this. Not sure if they are planning on reopening elsewhere. I've loved their food, their happy hours, their owners and employees for over a decade. Looking forward to a rebirth.
