I give it 5 stars for the quality and taste of it's ice cream. I just had a classic Black and Tan Sundae and, as usual, it was fantastic. It's small inside with no tables that can be used at the moment. It's an old place (but clean!) attached to where they make the ice cream. I've gone here for decades and have never been disappointed. Not fancy at all but super tasty!
Absolutely fantastic, old-school ice cream. It's been a long time since I've had such good quality, and I'm a total ice cream fanatic. Great mouth feel, solid flavors, very reasonably priced. I'd guess they use the same recipe from 1950 when they opened. I had a long layover in Oakland, and Uber'ed over luggage in hand. The Sundae ended up costing me $50 with travel costs, and I'm really glad I did it.
Never been to a Loard's Ice Cream. Definitely, has a nostalgic of the 1950s with their old menu's and ice cream lids. We had a chocolate and mango shake and it was delicious. Dare I compare the mango to Mitchell's? It's definitely a close 2nd place. If I am ever in the East Bay this will definitely be my go to. Priced reasonably too.. not crazy expensive like Baskin Robbin's. Highly recommend
