Was on a family trip decided to have lunch here and lets just say we were very disappointed. Not authentic at all. It was if they served the food on plate and then placed it in the microwave for way to long. I always order nachos because, I mean how can you mess up nacho lol but they proved me wrong. The nachos were so bad, everything was bad honestly. When the waitress was about to take our drinks she was yelled at from across the restaurant that that wasn"t her table by the manger I supposed. She looked so embarrassed, it was very uncomfortable for us and her. That should of been our first sign to leave. Well, lesson learned. Good luck if you decide to eat here.

In California we have a lot of really good Mexican restaurants. So it takes a lot to really stand out. Dona Esther’s is outstanding. My favorite dish is the Chile Verde paired with a Cucumber margarita. I plan on driving 1 1/2 hours this Sunday just to have my birthday lunch. I highly recommend.

This is our go to restaurant in San Juan Bautista. We like to run over from Salinas for lunch. My favorite is #11 on the menu-Cameron Enchiladas with green sauce. My husband likes the artichoke enchiladas with green sauce. Service is very good. We like the patio, plenty of shade. We especially like it on the warmer days. We have been coming there since the 80's. Miss the fellow who played the guitar.

The best Mexican food and mixed drinks this side of the border. Great atmosphere and super friendly staff. Try the flour tortilla chips with their homemade salsa. Best chips ever!

Waited 45 min just for water after being seated, and completely ignored as others around us were being repeatedly waited on. Restaurant about half full, busy but not unreasonably so. I strongly do not recommend unless you know them personally and can expect unique treatment. There's a place across the street that may be better.

The wait was long, but it was the weekend so that was to be expected. I ordered the Chile Verde plate because I judge all Mexican restaurants by their ability to make this simple but easy to mess up plate. IT WAS DELICIOUS! I've had this dish a million times from San Francisco to New Mexico and Guadalajara Mexico. I live in San Juan now and I recommend it!

Good Mexican food, the place has lots of outdoor seating. The open area in the back has a natural shade. The food servers are friendly, our food was hot and flavorful.
