Bear's Hideaway

Our go-to bar in downtown SJB. Lori (owner) has Wet Paint Wednesdays every week and other activities, like Oktoberfest coming soon! Beers on tap, wines chilled, and cigars on display if you smoke. Definitely need to visit this place if you are driving past it on the 101!! The patio is to die for. Fire pits, comfy seating and excellent ambiance. The selection of cigars is definitely picked with an attention to the connoisseur. All labels are ones that burn clean and leave a pleasant afternote on the palate. The wine selection is very diverse and the beers are deliciously gathered locally. All of this is packed in with an amazing, friendly owner and neighborly patrons. You feel like you're part of the family. They also allow pups, so plan on spending time as a welcome guest. I can't wait to pass through again, just so that I can cross this threshold again!

Always a wonderful time at Bear's Hideaway. Proprietess Lori is prompt and inviting. Her selection of wine and beer is ideal for varied palates. If you smoke cigars the Bear's Hideaway patio accommodates and it is very comfortable and inviting. Music on Sunday afternoons. Pay attention to shop hours! This is not a 24/7 operation.

There are a few things that make this place fantastic: dogs, owner, patio, alcohol (in whichever order you prefer). Bear and Tedi are sweet sweet. Lori is kind, personable and honest. The back patio is a fantastic spot to hang out for hours with friends and she carries local drinks including Brewery Twenty Five's latest creations. Stop by this place. Bring a deck of cards, invite your friends. And if you forget your sweater, grab one of the many colorful blankets Lori will happily grab for you. Thirsty Thursday $1 off all beers. Wine Down Wednesday: buy one glass 2nd = 1/2 off. Sunday from 5-6pm 1/2 off all already opened wines by the glass (plus live music). If you're hungry, there's a special menu where you can order from the Basque place down the road and they'll deliver it to you.
