Review Urban Momo - San Jose

Puran Sarna
I had chiken biryani, I liked the taste. The rice was spicy and flavorful and the chicken was well marinated and soft. On another visit I tried their mixed Shezwan fried rice, the fried rice was good but they one small container of the Shezwan sauce which is not sufficient for the full dish. The fried rice had a good combination of veggies, eggs and chicken.

Delicious food! We tried their veg chowmein and paneer momo and loved it. Located inside San Pedro square, this place gets super busy so if you are someone who doesn’t like to wait for food, then you may get disappointed with the service. They get a lot of takeout orders too, so it takes time for your order to arrive so go in early if you plan to eat here.

Food was good, we ordered veg paneer momos along with veg chowmin. I wish they provided with chili hot sauce along with the one they have it on the side. chowmin was good but just not spicy enough for my taste buds. Quality and quantity was good. Since it was Friday night and they were dealing with a lot of orders - it took a while to get the order so expect a wait if you are going there during evening on weekends. This is located in San Pedro square so it was super lively!

Love this Nepali food! Super super spicy dumplings and chicken wings. But the flavor (in addition to the burning tongue) is great!

Gobi manchurian is very delicious! Highly recommended. Thier shezwan fried rice is also good. However hakka noodles are very spicy, so much chilli in it. Veg stem momos are good. There was live music out side that we enjoyed.

Cashier was friendly and patient even though it was busy. Ordered the Chicken Vindaloo which was delicious, lightly vinegary, rich, and just enough spice to make it interesting without being overly spicy. Tender chicken bits and tasty potatoes, plenty of chicken compared to places like Naan n Curry. Naan was thin, crisp, and tender, not overly thick and bready. Would definitely come again to try other dishes.

I bought the veg chowmein. It’s the best chowmein I ever had in the US! it tastes just amazing.

We ordered veg schezwan noodles and asked to make extra spicy as we like indian level of spicy. They made it very spicy just as we wanted. I liked the taste as well

I have been to this place once before for fried chicken momos and loved it. Thought of ordering some of the other items on the menu. Ordered through DoorDash. Delivery: The food was packed decently. Food: 1. Chicken Momo Chili: These are momos cooked with chili sauce. I liked the spicy taste. These would go well with a side of rice (which can help finish the sauce :) ) 2. Chicken Chow Mein: The noodles were very flavorful. The chicken pieces were a bit larger than I would expect in a chow mein or rice. Also the chicken didnt have a lot of flavor on its own. I still liked the overall taste. 3. Vegetarian Paneer Momo: The stuffing was flavorful. I liked the taste. The sauce that came with this was not enough for the entire dish. Overall I feel this place is a bit pricer than the other momo places, but still a decent place to get good momos and chow mein :)

So we tried to spread the love and order from a place other than our now regular joint - the Momo Grill. And we were not disappointed with Urban Momo. The delivery through DoorDash did take a wee bit longer, but the food was packed and delivered safely. The steamed Chicken Momo were well made succulent and freshly prepared and the sauces with them were very tasty. But we were blown away with the quality of the Chicken Chow Mein. Fresh veggies and lots of them, now too oily or spicy noodles and check full of chicken slivers made this a delectable dish. We will be back from more of the Chow Mein and try their other offerings as well!

Got the chicken momos and they were pretty good. Took forever to receive them though.

Saturday night Grubhub/delivery:(~9.45 pm) Reasonably priced for the quantity Packaging: Used recycled single use plastics. - Ordered Schezwan Egg Chowmein and Chicken(lactose free) Manchurian. - Schezwan egg chow mein was really good, I was there was more but it was filling, slightly on the spicy side and a little dry. Chicken Manchurian was wet, tasty with all the spring onions. I ate them together and I’m content. If you’re not that hungry you may stick to just one thing from here and you’re good. - Order was delivered on time.

Ordered fried paneer momos, chili gobi and vegetarian noodles. The food was little proxy but tasted really good! The momos were crispy and the stuffing was amazing. (Slightly pricy but the taste was good)

We got chicken chili momos and samosas. The momos were fried instead of steamed so that was different. The filling and sauce were both amazing but we'd prefer steamed momos. The samosas were sprinkled with some sort of seasoning... They would have been better without it. I'm sure we'll be back to try other things.

So delicious! We got the steamed chicken momo dumplings (very comforting) and the chicken gorkahali (such yummy spices). Best food we had in San Jose.

Last weekend I was looking for a good vegetarian place to have lunch I found Urban Momo. My original plan was ordered my food and go back to my place to eat it (because Urban Momo is inside of San Pedro Square) but while I waited for my food I saw how the place was clean, the separation of tables, how the staff literally cleans/sanitizes every 10 minutes all the tables and chairs available so I decided to take advantage of the good weather and eat there. I could say this is a hidden gem in downtown San Jose. They have a complete menu and everything seems delicious. This time I decide to try Vegetarian momos and I'm still thinking about them! My friend went classic and had Chicken Tikka Masala, also asked/enjoyed a Naan, and we shared their delicious samosas. Everything was tasty, at the right temperature, good portions. I definitely coming back for lunch or dinner.

After a leisurely stroll along Almaden Ave in San Jose, wanted some small bites. Went to Urban Momo (Indo-Nepali cuisine). While they have a variety if traditional dishes from Nepali cuisine, I HAD to try their momos (dumplings filled with meat or veggies). They have 2 kinds - steamed and fried. Traditional momos are steamed which is what I ordered. The 5 star review is just based on the quality of their momos. It is difficult to get the correct time to steam them and it is easy to overcook which makes them extremely rubbery. The chef in there has mastered it all. The momos were delicious - delicately soft. The chicken filling was also cooked to perfection. The accompanying sauces did the trick in adding flavor. I have never had such perfect momos since 1992, when I had visited a small village near the India-Nepal border.

I hadn't ever tried Nepali food before so I was excited to try momos. I had the vegetarian momos which are actually vegan, just not marked that way on the menu. The momos are soooo good! They're basically a dumpling filled with really flavorful spices and vegetables! They came with a spicy dipping sauce as well which was also vegan and very delicious. I had the aloo gobi as well which was also really good! This was also my first time at San Pedro Square Market. I ordered at Urban Momo and they gave me a buzzer to let me know when the food was ready, it reaches outside which is great. I found a place outside on the patio with my dog who found a pizza crust underneath the table Anyway, I would definitely order from Urban Momo and get the veg momos!!!
