I’ve only been to Portugal once but I know for sure that the cod fritters (pastéis de bacalhau) here are really good!!! It’s better than the ones I had in Portugal. I also had what I think was pastel de nata (I’m just not sure because someone made a review and called it something else). Anyway, whatever is called I didn’t like it so much because I felt the fillng was too eggy and the crust was not flaky at all.
The best part was
Each item was only $1.88!!!
The atmosphere was a bit dark and drab. But the person at the counter was very cheerful so that was a bonus. they also have a lot of parking, but I parked at the Portuguese café on the corner and walked over.
I would definitely go back to get the cod fritters and try one of the shrimp snacks as well. They also have premade food that looks sort of promising, but based on some of the reviews, I will probably have to ask the person at the counter if there’s any good.
Also, FYI, the cod fritters is a little salty but obviously it has to be a little salty because it’s made with salt cod. I definitely liked it though.

I had an incredible dining experience at Bacalhau Grill! The food was truly amazing, and the flavors were a delightful journey through Brazilian cuisine. The refreshing juices perfectly complemented the meal. I was impressed by how quickly the food was prepared, ensuring a satisfying and efficient dining experience. The mini Brazilian grocery store added a unique touch, offering a wide range of quality products. The staff was friendly and accommodating, enhancing the overall atmosphere. However, I must deduct a star due to a misunderstanding with my order that took quite some time to resolve. Despite this, Bacalhau Grill remains a must-visit for its delectable cuisine and charming ambiance.

I came here to purchase some dry salted cod (Bacalhau) for a recipe, and was happy to find it available here. Not only is this place a resturaunt (which I haven't eaten here yet), there is a large market area of Portuguese and Brazilian goods, full of fresh meat and products, cooler sections of various sausages and cheeses, a small frozen section and lots of dry and canned goods. I found everything I needed and then some! The staff here was very friendly and helpful with everything I needed help with. I hope to come by and try the food from the resturaunt side too!

Good Brazilian and Portuguese food. I most recently ordered the feijoada, a black bean stew with assorted pork, which was very tasty. I also enjoyed garlicky salad that accompanied it. The previous time I ate here, I had the Bacalhau à Brás, which is shredded salted cod and scrambled eggs. It enjoyed the texture of the dish, and it mixes well with the rice. It’s on the pricier side for lunch, but they make up for it with good portion sizes.
The restaurant itself has a pretty relaxed atmosphere, and it’s connected to a market where you can buy a variety of Brazilian and Portuguese food products to take home. My favorites include the Portuguese bread, egg tarts, linguica, and chouriço.

My first time in Little Portugal. Very friendly people, delicious food, and casual atmosphere. Was a great meal after a spending a few hours at the Portuguese Historical Museum at History Park.

As Brazilians who had lived in Portugal, finding this place was awesome. Since you cross the door you can feel -that- marvelous smell that takes you home. We had Brazilian feijoada, chicken parmigiana, chicken strogonoff, milanesa, banana frita, picanha… all was so delicious and we stopped by the store, where could find many Brazilian products and of course, a Porto wine as well.
If you want to know the real Portuguese and Brazilian food in San Jose, this is the correct place.

I was referred by my Brazilian friend to stop by this “Hybrid” half Restaurant (Bacalhau Grill) & half Grocery Store (Trade Rite). I didn’t dine in but I bought the famous (frozen) Pão de queijo (Brazilian Cheese Bread) and those are AMAZING!!! I also bought Brigadeiro, the tiny Chocolate balls & Coconut balls dessert which are also AWESOME!!! There are lots of Portuguese pastries, cakes & also beverages for those who love sweets. Try those out, folks & you won’t regret it -:)

I wanted to try Portuguese egg tart, but they don’t have that.
I end up trying Cream Queijada and orange queijada. Both were delicious, hitting my sweet spots.
It shares space with the grocery store so you can buy Portuguese ingredients.
The cashier was friendly and patiently explained to me about the dessert.
Definitely try out this place.
