If you like Chipotle.... Pasilla Mexican Grill has a lot in common with Chipotle. If you like the burritos at Chipotle, I am pretty sure you would like the burritos at Pasilla. This is more your city slicker burrito than your big kitchen sink mess of a burrito that you get at a hole in the wall in the Mission.
1. Spicy Chicken Burrito - This was a good burrito. The ingredients were fresh and the burrito was put together well. The chicken was tender. Personally, if I return, I will probably get the normal chicken burrito. The spicy chicken did have a smoky flavor to it but there was something I didn't quite like about it. Overall though, it was still a good burrito.
2. The chips and guacamole (especially the guacamole) are very similar to Chipotle. The guacamole was fresh with the primary flavors being avocado and lime. The chips were good but not world class.
3. They do have a small sauce bar with around four different sauces. Their medium and hot salsas were good. There was also a fresh jicama salsa that looked unique. I should have tried it but didn't.
4. The place is small. Probably sits only around 8 people. So, it is better suited for carry out. It is clean and neat though.
5. The service was friendly, polite, and fast. I went in a slow period though. I am not sure how they hold up when it is busy.
Overall, I would return. It is a pretty good burrito made from fresh ingredients.
Delicious Mexican food combined with speedy service makes for an excellent combo! I was looking for a place to grab and go a quick lunch and came across Pasilla. It's a relatively tiny store (just two small tables inside for seating) so I imagine most people take out. I ordered a vegetarian bowl and it was incredibly flavorful and filling, for less than $11! Maybe the only downside is their limited hours, but still a great spot!
Pasilla offers a pretty delicious burrito. I have eaten there once and would definitely go back. The rice is was perfect, it was everything I wanted in Mexican rice and would eat it with some beans any day, superbly done. Salsa had some really good flavor but was too spicy for me. That being said, I'm kinda a spice wimp when it comes to certain foods. I got black beans which is uncharacteristic for me in a burrito but, I was pleasantly surprised. The steak was tender and had good flavor. I opted for no lettuce on mine cause that's how I like it. It definitely could have used more cheese again that is personal preference. I think this is a great place to get a bite and will be back for more.
I've only been here a couple of times, but it has, in my opinion, one of the best value salads in the Financial District. You get a HUGE salad with your choice of protein (chicken, beef, pork, shrimp) for around ten bucks. I also tried my friend's burrito, which was pretty good as well. I can definitely see this place becoming one of my go-to spots for weekday lunches.
Awesome salads here! I'm on keto so I'm always looking for salads that have enough protein to keep me full. I'm a bigger dude, so always get double meet, but these guys nail it.
Delicious fajita veggie burrito prices at $8. Seasoned nicely, quick service too. Not a lot of seating, but it seemed about 90% of the customers get their food to go, and was pretty quiet when we went in.
Vegetarian Review: Once I ordered it literally took one minute to get my burrito bowl. Portions are great and fresh if nothing crazy special. Would love to have more veggie protein options, but the veggie burrito bowl does come with a huge helping of guac and lots of beans.
I was in the area and was craving Mexican so went to Pasilla, a tiny place but food is good.
I ordered Veg Quesadilla and liked it. It had guac and some good Mexican cheese.
The salsa bar is great, loved the Salsa Verde but the highlight was the roasted onion and serrano and the Jicama salad.
