Posted on September 15, 2010 by julia521 This has been a chaotic day, starting off in New Orleans, then stopping by Denver, CO to end up in San Francisco, CA. My visit started off with a to do list of over 100 items. Just kidding, my own list wasn't that
King's Bakery is the real OG on Mission. Jelly rolls, coconut buns and the almond cookies have been left unchanged for decades! Growing up in The Bay, this place has been a staple in my family. Unfortunately I can only get some whenever I visit SF nowadays since I no longer live in the area $$$.
They have great French Bread. They’re especially good when the bread were just freshly baked and hot out of the oven. It’s been a long time since I’ve had their bread. I think the price used to be 25 cents a piece, years ago. Now, they are 40 cents a piece, but that price still beats the prices you pay for French Bread from other places. If you love eating bread with butter, you need to try King’s Bakery Cafe’s French Bread with your favorite butter (or try Darigold, Challenge, or Straus, which I recommend).
Best, best, beeeest!!! Freshly baked savory and sweet bread!! Bought three different types and they were all delicious!! The service is just amazing, great way to start the day, thanks a lot!! Muchas gracias!!
Small bakery with great fresh rolls. Tip: the rolls come out piping hot at 10:20 AM and 3:20 PM daily. Definitely recommend going at those times. Talk about a fresh, hot, and delicious bolillo. Mmmm. The owner os also very friendly.
Their coconut buns remain the tastiest baked good I’ve ever eaten in my life. Plus I got a photo with old Mr King. Legend.
One of the best bakery's literally left from the old San Francisco Mission District. Been coming since my childhood. Owner and employees at the front are super friendly and welcoming. Best sweet bread(pan dulce) you can have. I have not found any other bakery that makes their kind of sweet bread(pan dulce). If you are in the Mission District and craving for sweet bread I highly recommend to stop by and try their breads.
Kings Bakery is a humble, what I can only assume is family owned, business. I popped in on a Wednesday afternoon and a lot of pastries were still available. They ranged from pan dulce to Chinese style pastries. They were all really affordable and a great deal. I enjoyed all of the pastries I had and would return in a heartbeat.
The coconut buns were AMAZING!! I will be back just for those.
