9-18-21: Bought a bunch of Portuguese tarts, BBQ pork buns, and cocktail buns. Everything was really good. Just as good, if not better, than the pastries that you get in Chinatown (without having to go to Chinatown)! Char sui bow had a good amount of filling without being too red (probably doesn't use dye). Portuguese tarts were very creamy. I toasted in the toaster oven the next day and it was great. Cocktail bun had an even amount of filling spread throughout. Definitely five ⭐. Would like to try their other pastries next time.

Small Chinese bakery with fresh pastries and good pricing. You could get a variety of usual Chinese pastries, such as pork bun, corn bun, cocktail bun, cream bun, pineapple bun, etc. The taste is decent. They also make simple whipped cream fruit cakes for birthday celebrations. The only inconvenience is that it's a cash-only store. Also, in my most recent visit, they packed the cream cake with the hot pastries. So the cream all got melted. : (

I got several of the "normal" ("egg" $1.70 each, versus "Portuguese" $2.00 each) custard tarts. Perhaps I should try the Portuguese ones, which are supposed to be more caramelized and have a crispier crust, since the "egg" ones I had were good but not nearly as good as those from Golden Gate Bakery in Chinatown, whose filling is richer and crust flakier. Still, a solid option, and it looks like their other items are popular too. Update: the "Portuguese" version is indeed more caramelized & has a more flaky crust, and I highly recommend getting these over the "egg" version...but I still think Golden Gate Bakery tastes a bit better (although their hours are frustratingly inconsistent and they're on the other side of the City)

I love this place for their Portuguese Egg Tarts! The crust is flakey and the filling is just the right amount of sweet. Sometimes there's a long line, and sometimes I'm lucky and won't have to wait as long. The egg tarts are never cold because they keep coming out. I've been going to this place since they opened and seems like the price have gone up a lot in a short amount of time. I'll still return but I just hope they don't get too expensive!

Great bakery. Came for the egg tart, was not disappointed. One of the best in the city. They also make the Portuguese egg tarts (pastel de nata) which are also very good, but their egg tart to me is superior since it’s less sweet and has a lovely egg flavored custard. The crust on both versions are fantastic and flakey, really some of the best versions of each. Also got hot dog bun, taro bun, ham and egg bun, and pineapple bun, all good stuff. I’ve been on the hunt for the best pineapple bun in the city and this may very well be it. My partner loved the ham and egg bun! It’s such a simple thing, but Mr. Bread does an exceptional version of it.

Their Chinese buns are good but egg tarts can be better. And they’re closed until 3/4/22.

Love the egg tarts -- no more need to trek to Golden Gate Bakery! The Portuguese egg tarts are also good but too sweet for us...

Based on a friend’s recommendation, I went to Mr. Bread to buy Macanese Portuguese egg custard tarts. The owner is from Macau and the Portuguese egg custard tarts (Pasteis de Nata) is outstanding, the custard is similar to crème brûlée and the flaky pastry base is a bonus!
