Zaytoon

I think the hummus and fixins are little heavy on lime/lemon. It's too sour for me. But their lamb and chicken shwaarma is pretty sold and the portions are great. I wish they added hummus to the platter, instead of having to play extra. It's a good last minute.. I can't decide on anything and I kinda want to be healthy type of place. I will probably end up back here at some point or another.

I was excited to try this place but it left a lot to be desired. I went for my two standard plates at Mediterranean places, a Greek salad with lamb and a mezze platter. Greek salad with lamb: 2-stars. The salad was mostly lettuce with stingy portions of tomato and feta. The lamb was dry and chewy. The salad was barely dressed and didn't come with any extra on the side. Mezze platter: 3-stars. It wasn't a very well balanced plate... there was plenty of tabbouleh, onions, and tomato/cucumber salad, but nearly no falafel, olives, feta, pickles, hummus, or babaganoush. Literally, there were two tiny shriveled dolmas, two small cubes of feta, three olives, and two tiny pickles. The falafel was slightly redeeming, a bit crispy and properly green-hued inside. The babaganoush was nice and smoky and the hummus was creamy. I just wish I had more of both! The pita was good as well, a bit chewy but soft and pillowy. Definitely won't be coming back here, there are better options to be had in the city.
