This is French Laundry by the beach in cutoffs and sandals.
It's not cheap, portions are small. So if you go have 4 courses and wines by the glass so you can have wine paired with every course.
If you want big petitions at low prices, this isn't it.
This is a splurge. But an amazing one. We walked in without reservations at 5:30 on a Saturday.
Had we been 10 minutes later we would have waited hours. We sat in the bar.
Next time we want the bar. The bartenders are masters at work.
Our server, Tiffany, zenned us into the right wine.
Just amazingly delightful.
Every dish was Completely unique with amazing ingredients
This meal would be double the price downtown.
I started with drink called the Deacon Blues.
How could that not be good?
We ordered their special Levain Toast. This kills Tartine!
We had the mixed greens to start with organic greens, clams as second course with a delightful carmelized garlic oil clam bro. Two glasses of Sancerre
Third course, Pressed Lamb.
I didn't think anyone could creat a lamb dish that rivals my Lebanese wife's pomegranate lamb. We had two glasses of Brouilly "Beaujolais".
I ordered a glass of Syrah, Tiffany quietly brought me a taste of the Syrah and a taste of the Beaujolais. She suggested that the Syrah was a bit heavy for the lamb.
She was 100% right.
We finished off with a Panacotta to die for and a glass of Monbazillac from the South of France.
This is my new favorite place in sf.
We really enjoyed this place. Vibrant clientele, relaxed and happy staff, and the food was exquisite. The pain au levant bread justifies its hype, particularly with the house made butter and pairs well with the blackhouse stout they serve. The shrimp was excellent and so were the goat cheese dumplings but the surprise star was this asparagus with pickled currant that, from the description I couldn't even imagine how it tasted. Served with a duck egg over it, the flavor was complex and really astonishing. We weren't wild about the panna cotta but the tres leches cake was stunning, especially the sauce and the merengue.
Special mention goes to the craft cocktail "dirty work" which was delicious and refreshing, and would be equally at home in a nightclub or on a beach.
I guess the only thing I don't like about the place (besides the panna cotta) are the uncomfortable wooden chairs. I saw a very tall patron doing the Circulation Dance after getting up.
The two of us went all out and still spent less than a Benjamin.
Would have liked a dark roast for our lattes but everyone seems to be doing medium roast nowadays. Excellent food, made fresh with good different flavors and garnish. We had the squash Levain toast and the brekkie sandwich with the pulled pork and guacamole. Next time we will be ordering the smashed potatoes cause it looked like everyone else sure did!
Service was pleasant and quick. Good sized street patio to eat at as well.
This might be my favorite brunch spot when visiting San Francisco and it's around the sunset community which overall is a lovely and laidback vibe. I've been to this spot twice and both visits were phenomenal. The grilled cheese is one of the best I've had in town and the waiter had recommended to pair it with a tomato basil soup which was to die for! If you're a fan of tomato and grilled cheese, definitely swing by and give this spot a try. I've also tried the breakfast sandwich which is done really well, the ingredients are fresh and made with care and love. The venue is comfortable, nice decor, and there's seating available outside and inside which is really neat. Also, if you're in a rush or short on time for a busy packed day, then I have good news for you. This spot takes your order right as soon as you arrive and they do a great job of getting your food out to you quickly! And did I mention, it's really good food! :)
Highly recommend checking Outerlands out if you're in San Francisco.

Really great brunch place after a day at Ocean Beach! I would recommend their veggie grain bowl with hummus, broccolini and roasted pork! 😋
Great for a first date, but also for a group of friends! The breakfast sandwich is also a very solid option! 🥐
On a sunny and warmer day, they also have seats outside, near some nice trees ☺️
Nice brunch place with good, clean food!
Our favourite was Veggie Grain Bowl and Dutch pancakes. Both had very unique and distinct flavours. Crispy chicken sandwich was also delicious. Good vegetarian options.
Great local restaurant with delicious brunch /lunch options. Wish we could have tried everything. Efficient, unobtrusive service. Saw families and solo eaters alike. Would recommend if you are looking for good food and an unfussy place to just enjoy company.
Come here for brunch on Saturday morning because the restaurant has outdoor seating. Here's the lowdown for ordering brunch, customers put in the order and pay for it in the front of the restaurant before sitting down at a table with an assigned number, and wait for the food to be brought to the table by a server. The staff were friendly. Ordered the Levain Toast with jam and added a side of eggs and a side of pork. The Dutch Pancakes with berries was lofty and delicious, definitely a unique dish to have while in the Sunset.
Weird atmosphere but the food was incredible. We got the pancake and French toast, they were both delicious.
You pay before you eat, which was odd...and they brought us room temp water after our food arrived instead of when we sat down.
Sunday dinner. Not crowded. Great location near Ocean Beach and GG park.
Very tasty smoked trout salad. Full meal in itself. I also had tempura veggies.
My wife and I came here for dinner at the recommendation of a friend - we were not disappointed! We had bread, two salads, and two pastas, which was more food than we needed (could have done without one of the pastas). But everything was amazing. In particular, the bread / butter was unbelievable, and both salads were delicious and satisfying. Simple but extremely well-made dishes with high quality ingredients.
My wife ordered a cocktail which was also excellent. We had a strawberry dessert which was good but only “ok” relative to everything else.
Good service and typical SF prices for something of this quality. We will be back!
Got there pretty early, as it get full pretty quick, tthe way works, is that you arder at the door and pay, and then get a number and sit, then sonwone brings you food to the tabke yoi choose.
The food was great , ordered a Dutch pancake and a grill cheese sandwich... And a bloody Mary
