Very crispy & chewy sandwich! Price a bit high but quality was amazing! They're able to offer medium size sandwich but it was still at a decent size. Highly recommend their Marina's Special!
Workers were efficient. Super fast with sandwich making.
Seating was minimal but it's more a to-go shop so it's expected.
Parking was minimal but it's easy to find on a non-busy day.

Best sandwich I've ever had. Fresh, and delicious.

I bought sub with chicken breast. What can I say?
The length of a man's forearm, as wide as women's calf! Better share this sub with someone or be verrry hungry.
And good black coffee. Slightly sour and a touch of bitterness.
5 points to Ravenclaw.

Amazing sandwich! Will definitely go back for some more.

THE best sandwich I've ever had. It was so good, I went back, even though I was only in SF for 2 days. Get the dutch crunch bread!!

Best sandwiches on Union St. for sure! I like the Steiner Corner (BLT) or the Tuna Marine usually. Served on Dutch Crunch rolls! Best sandwich content for the price in SF in my experience!

Amazing food, I had the Marine Sub (BEST SANDWHICH I'VE EVER HAD) and the Reunion Sub, both delicious with large portions. Ordering take out is quick or there's seating available for dinning in. The store was clean and tidy. I love the friendly vibes from everyone in the community as well.

Been coming here for a few years now, and I love it! The prosciutto is terrible but everything else on the menu is fantastic! 8/10

I recently visited Marine Submarine as part of my ongoing effort to review various deli and sandwich places in San Francisco. I have also compiled a list of famous sandwich spots in the city, which you can find on my profile.
About Marine Submarine:
The place has a spacious interior and is well-maintained, which I consider to be a positive aspect. In fact, despite being established back in 1975, the inside of the store is very clean and well-maintained. Another pro of the store is that despite many sandwich places having extensive menus, Marine Submarine's menu only has around 10-13 items, which I think is the perfect number.
When it comes to the food, you have two options for your bread: Sourdough or French soft. The food was tasty and the sandwich was loaded with a variety of ingredients. Another positive aspect is that the ingredients were fresh. However, eating the sandwich was not as easy as I would have liked, which is a con. Personally, I prefer sandwiches that are a bit less loaded, but this one was not that type of sandwich.
Although the store was big and clean, it was not cozy and we did not enjoy eating there. The lack of a warm and inviting atmosphere makes it an unfavorable dining option. Nevertheless, the tasty and fresh food, combined with the well-maintained interior, make Marine Submarine worth a visit.

I underestimated the heft of their sandwich. Perfect pre-nap item. I got the hot Italian.
