A little on the pricey side, but food is fresh and portions are big. I’ve had the porchetta sandwich before, and it was delicious! The crispy pork salad was a little overdressed, and there was just so much of the crispy pork, i could not finish the salad. My favorite has to be what i had today, which was the kale salad, $11. Alas, ur protein, avocado, tofu are add-ons, with the avocado as low as $1.50 extra, and salmon as much as $5.00. Ouch! I opted for the avocado with my kale salad, and asked for the dressing on the side. I did end up using all the dressing given, but i always rather dress a salad myself than risk getting it overdressed.
Delicious breakfast! home made gluten free granola, organic greek yogurt, farm fresh berries, perfectly cooked eggs and potatoes, all in a cozy friendly yet urban chic environment! Very friendly and fast service. I can't wait to go back to try the rotisserie chicken and authentic acai bowl!
This is a steady eatery in the sparse Civic Center neighborhood. They've changed owners in the past few years and I have to say that their salads, which used to be superb, have gotten heavy on the dressing but their breakfast remains really solid with delicious home fries and yummy scrambled eggs. You can't beat their homemade potato chips. Also, the most reasonably priced Americano that I've found anywhere in SF. Great friendly staff!!
I love Elmira.
They often have more than a few specials, and their seasonal specials can be excellent.
It's rather fast service, though if you get there right during the lunchtime rush you may be waiting in line for a while.
I don't think there's a single thing on the menu I haven't liked, though I'm partial to the chopped salad, the crispy pork salad, and the porchetta sandwich.
Great roast chicken, sides, and salads! My favorites are the mac and cheese (changes seasonally, I most recently had the pesto) and the quinoa salad. I also enjoy ordering family style with some friends so we can sample a variety of items.
Great little high quality lunch spot in civic center area. While most things in the neighborhood are dirty depressing or both, lunch here always brings a little smile to my face. Get the porchetta. Have a little sit.
Elmira is the best thing to happen to this stretch of McAllister Street for years (culinary or otherwise). Mark cooks up fresh, seasonal dishes that make you want to come back for more ASAP -- as in, my wife, baby and I have been known to eat there three times in a week. Highlights for me: the portobello sandwich, faro or quinoa salads and the fact that their is lots of kale on the menu. If you are a lover of breakfast, get there by 11am! Sundays breakfast is served until 2. The eggs florentine is amazing!
Seek it out. Totally worth it. I went out of my way on this trip to San Fran to eat lunch here again. So worth it. Makes me wish I came more often. Porchetta sandwhich is the best bet. You must have the roasted potatoes as the side.
I had the Frittata for breakfast and it was really good!
Amazing service, fantastically flavorful food, brilliant coffee, with a happy chill cafe feel. Such an inviting place with beautiful decor and plants! I love this place!
