Coffee Crunch Cake is absolutely the best and identical to the cakes we used to get at Blums back in the day. Order one today...you won’t be sorry!!

I wish I could buy all their great Japanese groceries and take them back to MD with me. And let's not forget, a whole coffee crunch cake, just for myself. Lol

This is the best spot for cake in the city! The shop is located inside of a grocery store in Japantown. They are most known for their crunch cakes, and it comes in coffee, and lemon. I got the lemon crunch cake and it was the perfect summer treat. The cake was not too sweet and it was complimented with honeycomb candy. Truly obsessed! this place is cash only

So, I found a post on IG talking about how delicious this bakery's desserts are and how they were nominated for a 2023 James Beard award for outstanding bakery. Well, lemme tell ya... well-deserved!!! When we arrived (about 30 minutes from closing time), they only had 2 slices left. They lady began to apologize, and I told her not to worry about it... we'll just take both of whatever that is! See pics - one chocolate roll and the other some sort of "crunch cake" per the IG post I saw. Both were phenomenal!!! Delicate cake with lovely flavors and the perfect amount of sweetness! They are a small Japanese bakery inside of a Japanese grocery store. I'm so happy to know about them and will definitely visit again during my next trip to San Francisco. Just know, I have a small bakery in North Carolina and I'm very particular about dessert! This was ahhh-mazing!

Fluffy vanilla sponge cake sandwich in between layers of whipped cream and covered in coffee honey comb like candy. Simply amazing with a cup of coffee. As someone who doesn’t really reach of desserts, this is high compliments coming from me. Seeing the reviews online I had high expectations and the cake met it! Having the toffee crumble by itself is a little sweet and I did have to stop after eating 1/3, put it in the fridge but I kept thinking about it and always came back to eat another 1/3. I ended up finishing the entire slice! The vanilla sponge is simply amazing, and the cream did not feel cheap or leave a coating on your tongue (which I had worried about). If you are in the area make sure you stop by and get a slice better yet, eat it with a cup of coffee or tea with it would be perfect!

while it's still on the pallette... 10/10 first of all LOL I had an idea of what I was getting myself into but I left a bit of a surprise. I initially thought it was *coffee* cake in the LITERAL sense, which would've turned me off, but as I've learned with the American language, don't take things literally ahehehe This is a coffee *accompaniment* to be precise. The crunchy topping is of caramelized sugar: airy, light, crispy (crunchy). The light and delicate crumb of the cake is simple and grasps the candy with the whipped cream layers in-between. $6 is perfectly priced. It's just enough to share for 2 if you're not a sweet tooth (but it's honestly not that sweet, it's extremely balanced) but delightfully indulgent for one. You can still move around and dance around the city after this slice, and still want another sweet to close the evening. 10/10, delightful, simple and the best texture balance in a cake slice by far.

Hidden inside a grocery store, Yasukochi’s Sweet Shop is definitely worth a stop during a Japantown trip. There is a little bell you ring for service when you arrive, and they’re pretty fast in serving. The sweet lady behind the counter included forks for our two slices. Overall, the best part of eating this cake is the cold cream and the crunchiness from the coffee crumbs! Parking: 2 hour street parking is close by, and metered parking is available for a quick stop. While there is no dine-in option, you can enjoy your cake outside along a bench

The coffee cake definitely lives up to its hype. It is $7 per piece! You definitely want more than one. I love it so much that I always bring out of towners to this place. Cash only place. Highly recommend ordering ahead two days if you are ordering a whole cake. I

If only I lived within walking distance, stopping by this local bakery would easily be a weekly routine. I've only tried their famous coffee crunch cake and I am hooked! The sponge cake is light and moist and is the perfect complement to the coffee crunch pieces that coat the cake. The bakery is cash only and I would call right when they open and request them to reserve slices for you. I made the disappointing mistake of dropping by casually in the early afternoon, only to find out that they had long run out for the day. Whole cakes have to be ordered at least one day in advance. I am already dreaming of returning to try their other baked goods--lemon and chocolate crunch cakes, I'm coming for ya!

The coffee crunch cake is absolutely worth a detour here. Located to the right inside Super Mira, we were greeted like friends. The cake itself is perfectly moist, cream is not too sweet, and the crunch adds a bit of variety to each bite. I'd be in trouble if I lived nearby.

I don’t know why it took me so long to come here but I’m glad I did! I ordered the coffee crunch cake and it already looked so amazing! There was a nice crunch from the top made of coffee/toffee flavors and the cake itself was very moist. The cream inside was a bit heavier which also made it seem almost like an ice cream cake. The only negative is that there’s no seating inside so it got a little messy when I devoured it outside (even though it was so peaceful at the peace plaza a block away).
