One Saturday we were wandering around the city checking out some of the sights: Ocean Beach, the botanical gardens and several wine bars. We ended up in the West Portal area, which is a cute little neighborhood in the city, and quite easy to get to on Muni. As I was looking for a place to have dinner, I saw that Xiao Loong was supposed to have some pretty fantastic food, but they didn’t take bookings. As much as I often refuse to go places that don’t take them, we decided to check it out anyway, and Lo and Behold!, they had a table available for us pretty much immediately. And a lot of the tables emptied out soon after, so the restaurant itself didn’t seem like it really was that hard to eat at, but they definitely were popular given the amount of takeaway orders we saw moving out the door.

Visited Xiao Loong for carry out dinner. I went for the steamed tofu with broccoli and some fried rice both vegan style. The first dish was a bit flat in spices which I compensated with Sriracha but the fried rice was spot on delicious. I am impressed and this is my first time trying real Chinese food. Service was slow due to some issue and it took them 30 minutes to get it prepared. I went with my cousins who are regulars here. They mentioned that this is the first time they experienced slower service. Still a great place!!

This is our favorite Chinese restaurant! The ingredients are all high quality & fresh. New specials and faves always deliver, like: dried asparagus, lemon pepper prawns, potstickers, shrimp & chive dumplings, sizzling rice soup & delicious teas. The staff is always very attentive, when dining in the restaurant & takeout.

Wowowowowow this place is PRIME. I am so glad that I live so close to this place. So delectable. We got pot stickers. They are massive. So good. Mix it with the soy sauce and the orange-colored sauce they bring out. YUM. also very filling. Then I got the Tan Tan Noodle and holy moly that was so freaking delicious. Apparently it's or two people buuuut I ate it allllll. The noodles are a cool thickness that I never had before. The water chestnuts are so good with the peanut butt. The peanut flavoring is delectable. Get this dish please! You could easily share it with two people but if you're really hungry, like I was apparently, you can chow down the whole thing.

Was skeptical about the authenticity of the restaurant due to the other reviews on Google, but am certainly glad that I trusted that person's review. This place is slept on! Location was lovely, and not so busy like that of downtown SF. That atmosphere inside was equally lovely. The smell that wafted out the door while we waited for the waiters to cleanup and seat us was mouth-watering. The appetizer we shared (Chinese Chicken 🥗) was absolutely delicious. Perfectly MOIST and tender chicken and crispy lettuce on god 😋😋 The staff were super helpful & friendly, the waiter (whom I wish I could remember his name) did a fantastic job with taking down our order, to even checking back on us appropriately without it feeling too much. I even liked the fact that he took down our entire order without writing anything down, and with that to all of our surprise, he didn't forget a single thing. Loved that this place was traditional and authentic to it's roots. You can't really find a gem like this that often anymore but if you do decide to check this place out, YOU WON'T BE DISSATISFIED!! The chefs in the kitchen added just the right amount of flavor without missing a key note & without it tasting overly salty. This was the very first time I've been here, & I'm definitely going to come back. My GF & her sister (whom are both Chinese) especially liked their dishes but were just as curious about the rest of what we didn't order from the menu. I'm sure if I don't go back soon, they'll be in there to let me know how the other dishes were! Thank you Xiao Loong Restaurant. Your excellent establishment and friendly, helpful staff really topped off our night. & Our satisfaction resting in our bellies 😀 💯/10

Ordered the vegetarian potstickers as an appetizer. They were very good, and you could tell they were made fresh. Very friendly service, and the entrées were delicious.

I liked this spot. They had good tasty food. The won ton soup was excellent. I had the shrimp with lobster sauce- good; my friend had the moo shoe- he said it was very good.

The dried fried chicken and potstickers were on point and the hot and sour soup is nice and peppery just the way I like it. I just wish the quantity of protein in their entrees was more substantial for the price.

Always excellent service. Always accommodating. High quality ingredients and dishes. For example all sauces taste different, plump fresh shrimp versus tiny frozen ones. Curb side pickups are a plus. Unquestionably the best Chinese food in West Portal and one of the best in San Francisco.
