We needed a quick drink before we met up with friends in the area. This was a perfect stop. It’s off the beaten path as it’s on the edge of the financial district, North Beach and Telegraph Hill. We came on a Sunday afternoon and it was hopping. I used to come here quite a bit as I worked in the area over the years with 3 different companies. Glad that it’s still kicking.
Came here on our vacation on a Sunday afternoon. It was pretty quiet in this part of downtown and there was parking nearby. We were both pretty thirsty after exploring the city and stopped here. What a cool old building! This part of downtown sort of reminds me of the buildings of the Midwest; old brick and block. The bartender was super welcoming, nice and chatty. Didn't rate the food because we didn't have anything to eat. Recommended!
Had the tuna melt with sweet potato fries, it was awesome. Great atmosphere and super friendly people coming in and out.
Beautiful historic bar with great food and drink. We stopped by early in the evening after visiting the Exploratorium and it was still very quiet and kid friendly.
Strong character, strong selection. The kind of bar restaurant you’d only find in San Francisco. Ample outdoor seating. Its location lends well to taking a stroll outside to the other sights and sounds of the FiDi, North Beach, the Embarcadero.
Really cool atmosphere and decor. I came here for Happy Hour and they had some great specials on fish and chips. Really great service too. Definitely planning on visiting again
I ordered the Old Fashioned and Negroni, and Fish & Chips - excellent bar service, casual, friendly old SF atmosphere, lots of locals and regulars. Drinks were solid - I asked about Campari, and Eric gave me a shot glass to taste it. Double-battered French fries, hot and fresh - breading was a little thick, and fish a little thin - but very good otherwise.
It was cool to visit a bar established in 1851. The atmosphere is historic yet modern and the cocktails were delicious. I loved how each drink has a fun fact about the bar and the area. The food was delicious but options were limited. The music was a mix of old school classics which I liked but it looked like it was the bartender's playlist so music styles may vary with bartenders.
This is one of those places people come to eat, drink, hang out with friends, or watch the game. We grabbed an empty table and soon after, the waitress came by for our drink order and verified if we wanted to eat. She gave us the food menu and came back for our drink and food order in a bit. The menu is small but there was so many things we wanted. So we'll definitely be back. The inside is built from reclaimed wood from a ship. It's really cool looking inside. Seating is limited to a dozen or so tables, so it does get crowded quickly. Good service, good food.
Not much of any ship left. Serviceable hamburgers and an excellent soup lift it up. Never crowded. Flooring is artificial wood terribleness and works against everything. Staff is friendly and efficient.
