We've eaten there twice in two days and the staff are wonderful! They have made us feel so welcome. I had the pasta which was delicious! Lots of different flavours and a satisfying portion. Fantastic beer selection! On our second visit I had the mushroom flatbread which was awesome and my husband had the Caesar salad which he said is the best he's ever had. Great place with a cool ambiance and music.

Amazing place with amazing people. Ryan and his partner make everyone feel at home. Terrific beer offerings on tap and in the bottle (can). Great vino too for those who lean grapes. Can’t say enough good things about the Proprietors. They make it that much better. Kudos and cheers!

This is a hidden gem! Me and my Wife spent our honeymoon here in SF. While staying at the Hotel Carlton, we were given a promotional card to eat here at Phlox Commons. We went in on our first night at the hotel and is was an amazing experience. The Owner was our waitress. Very attentive and we had wonderful conversation. The food was outstanding. all fresh made ingredients. Farm to table in the middle of SF? WOW!! :D During dinner we each chose a beer from the nice selection they had to choose from. After we finished dinner the owner brought me and my newlywed wife a desert on the house. If i remember correctly it was a ricotta cheesecake and delicious it was!! I would highly recommend this to any local or tourist!!!!

Great hidden gem at Hotel Carlton. Ryan the bartender was friendly and extremely knowledgeable. The Flank Steak was amazing. cooked to perfection! It was one of the best flank steaks Ive had in my life. The mashed potatoes and cabbage complimented the meal. The Lagunitas Swan beer was recommended. Great call Ryan!

The moment you enter the restaurant, you can feel how cozy the ambiance is. Service here is very attentive, offering refills of coffee and water without needing to be prompted. Their brunch specialties are great! Most of the omelets are made with seafood and are very delicious. Their pancakes and doughnuts are also good. Overall, I would recommend this place for people looking for a relaxed brunch in SF!

Great meals. Outstanding service. Everything in the menu is hand-crafted. Pickles - brined and made there. Ranch dressing - made from scratch. Burgers - beef is ground and seasoned there. And if you like your burger medium rare, it will be perfect. And don't get me started on the passionfruit cheese cake. The sourdough pancakes at breakfast were fantastic! You won't be disappointed!

Great all around! We went a bit more tapas style and did the Mac n cheese, brussel sprouts, side salad and clam chowder. The brussel sprouts were wonderfully crispy though probably my only complaint of the whole meal is that the apple reduction they were served with took away from the texture a bit. The salad and chowder both surprised me with being more bright and balanced than anticipated. The mac was Mac; creamy and yummy.

Delicious food, wonderful atmosphere, reasonable prices. It's a hidden gem. Do yourself a favor and head there for supper. Enjoy a cider or beer and definitely have the bacon dusted french fries or the fried pickles.

This is a great neighborhood gem nested in the Hotel Carlton. Come for a small bite or a full entree to go with some incredible wines and craft beers. And to top it off, the owners are charming as all get out.

Phlox is low key but still somewhat sophisticated, modestly priced, with tasty innovative food. Ryan & Georgina are very attentive.

Charming pub atmosphere with a great wine list, interesting craft beer on tap, a varied menu that rises above the usual pub fare
