Excellent chinese food- Obama ate here. Delicious peking duck with crispy skin and fresh buns. Large selection of dishes- large portions- wait staff so friendly and accommodating. I hosted a banquet for 60 people in their downstairs room and was thrilled with everything

Once we heard that San Francisco had the biggest Chinatown, we had to investigate. A few locals actually recommended this place to us so we tried it out for dinner. It looks really swanky inside with the Chinese decor, big round tables and waiters smartly dressed in their green uniforms. There is complimentary herbal tea on the tables too so no need to order extra drinks - unless you feel like indulging!

The food was really good! It's clear that the ingredients are all fresh (there are lobsters swimming in the tanks and you can peer into the kitchen and see how the food is prepped). Between us we had pork dumplings, smoked pork chow mein, chicken and cashews, prawn with cashews, Seshzuan chicken, sesame chicken and fried rice. The flavours were all mild but well balanced, meat was tender and the portions were quite generous. I'd recommend ordering a few different options and sharing amongst your group to get the full experience.

One downside was the service. The chicken and cashews was forgotten and was only brought to the table after we reminded them a few times and by that time we were almost done eating. Our waiter disappeared halfway through so we had to hunt down other waiters to assist us. Not cool. Hence the high rating is mainly just because of the food and the vibe.

Oh one more thing - Barack Obama visited this place. There are pictures for proof on one of the windows. And you get fortune cookies for your table when the bill arrives which is pretty cool!

Excellent food. Good service. Menus are in English. Fill out the order form and they bring out your dishes as they’re ready. This will be a regular spot for me whenever I’m in SF.

Very cool and authentic place with great service and atmosphere in Chinatown. The fried rice was easily the best I'd ever had, cooked perfectly.

The food was great. A bit too noisy if you are looking for something more relax atmosphere. Service could always uses some improvement, but very typical Chinese places.

I happened to chance on the restaurant by googling 'what to do in San Francisco in one day'. And so as the site directed us, we made our way through Chinatown to get to this restaurant. What sold me was that president Obama chose to dine at that restaurant and I figured if its good for the president of the USA, it's definitely good for me.
The ambience and service is typically Chinese and meals are served very quickly.
As we sat they placed a jug of hot tea at the table. We ordered the pork dimsums, Schezuan prawns and mussels for starters. For the main we had the cashew chicken and chicken chowmein. There were two of us and we definitely had to over-eat our way through the food to finish what was on the table though we did not complain any time as it tasted that good. If you've been to India, the flavours are very similar to the Chinese food you get there. I'm glad I decided to stop here to eat.

Great food. Host and waiters genuinely cared that we had a good dinner. Tea is hot and fantastic. We came in right before closing, but still had great service. Owner is so-so though.

Great Restaurant in Chinatown. We were browsing through Chinatown and stopped at one of the tea tasting shops. Had a great experience and asked the owner to suggest a restaurant for dinner. The Great Eastern was his recommendation.

The restaurant is well lit, clean and is well staffed. We were met at the door and immediately shown to a table, where tea was immediately served as soon as we sat down. Drink orders were then taken. We were given time to peruse the menu and then the waiter arrived to take our order.

Hot & Sour Seafood soup was served very quickly. It was excellent, with very fresh seafood and other ingredients. We also had Prawns & Scallops with green peas, a spicy beef dish, lemon chicken, fried rice and beef chow mein.

All dished were reasonable portions, not huge, but definitely not small. The food was delivered quickly, was hot, well cooked, fresh and flavourful. An excellent meal.

Great value - total bill with drinks and tip was about $20 per person.

If in San Francisco Chinatown this is highly recommended.

In the heart of Chinatown, this place is an amazing spot for dim sum! The prices are quite reasonable compared to other restaurants in the area and the taste and quality of the dishes were good! The food came out fast and quick aside from some of the more special or unique dishes which came a little later. Overall the place is a great, affordable place for tasty dim sum!

We have been dying for a good DimSum restaurant in Chinatown. We found it! Their DimSum was fresh and delicious. We had the shrimp dumplings three different ways. The fried ones were different with a great taste. We started with a big bowl of Won Ton soup which was filling. We were happy to find this place down from Grant street on Jackson Street. Enjoy this place for DimSum or the regular Chinese menu. People were happy eating their dishes!

Good no frills Chinese restaurant in the heart of China town. We ordered a bunch of dim sum and they were all great. Our favourite were the soup dumplings and the shrimp ones. Make sure you leave some time though as the spot gets very busy!

We went for the dim sum and the food is really good. Pretty authentic. We also ordered one Hot and sour soup. So good. The only lacking is they don’t have enough staff. It was hard to get the attention of the waiter to get a replacement of chopsticks pr spoon because they were running for the other tables.

Dim sum & fried rice were excellent; some of the best in SF. Not many healthy vegetarian/vegan options; ordered the eggplant tofu (they were nice enough to sub tofu instead of pork) but it was soaked in way too much oil. The fried pumpkin was so salty it was inedible. Their shrimp dim sum was velvety delicious, and the fired rice was actually very light with plenty of green onions; just perfectly made. The service couldn't have been better; staff were very accommodating!

Dim sums are fresh with so many choices. Main dishes are okay. Clay pot braised pork was so tender and melt like ice cream BUT way too salty.

Have been here twice for dinner and dim sum and both were excellent. The food looks just like the pictures, so you will not be disappointed.

Great dim sum spot in SF Chinatown. Pretty busy on a Sunday morning, but we got there before it opened, so we got a table right away. My favorites were a little different here, with turnip cakes, XO spicy rice noodle roll, steamed beef short ribs with black pepper sauce, and pan fried leek and shrimp dumplings topping the list. I don't know if it tops our favorite dim sum spots in the east bay, but great for our weekend away from the kids in SF!
