A neighborhoodn gem, offering a delightful array of authentic South Indian dishes. The ambiance is cozy, making it an ideal spot for a satisfying meal. Our waiter was incredibly helpful and friendly. We initially planned to order 3+ dishes for the two of us, but he wisely advised us to start with a dish per person due to their generous portion sizes. He was spot-on! We ended up being pleasantly full with just one dish each. Not only was the food delicious, but it also arrived promptly, which was a bonus. The quick service allowed us to enjoy our meal without any unnecessary waiting.

Great veg restaurant in San Francisco. This is one of the madras style Indian cuisine . Traditional Tamil food . Highly recommended. Beautiful atmosphere.

5⭐️ all across!! Pure veg restaurant. It was so amazing that my family and I ate there twice in 3 days while we were visiting SFO. Staff is super polite, doesn’t take too long to deliver your order to the table, and you might have a slight wait if you visit during peak hours. Food was super tasty and the thali is the best way to go if you’re quite hungry and you get a variety of various curries, sabji (mixed veggies), papad, poori, rice, raita and a dessert; all for $16. Their lassi is also tasty. Get the mango kind if you’re into that

Udupi Palace is one of the "rare" South Indian Vegetarian restaurant in SF -- and the food here is pretty good. But they could *really* improve on the service offered here. We went in pretty late (around 3 pm or so), and they had no restrictions for offering South Indian Thali/Meals at that time. Pretty much everything on the menu was available. And the taste was pretty good too. I loved their poori and channa. They offer *very* little rice though (and it's a limited thali). We could barely eat a single curry with the amount of rice offered... The waiters taking orders were barely able to speak English and had very little knowledge about the menu, items offered, etc. And they were also somewhat rude to be honest. Even though service and ambience can vastly improve, Udupi Palace is worth it for the food!

Great place for South Indian comfort food. Get the Thali if you are hungry or the Udupi Combo with Dosa of your choice and idly vada or as I did two vada if you are not that hungry and you won't go wrong. Finding parking is the only nightmare but that is not the restaurant's fault - Valencia is a trendy place and gets very crowded.

So good. Best south Indian dosa and uttapam in the city. Come here instead of some trendy place on Valencia St. I recommend the onion chili uttapam, if you are looking for a tasty recommendation. Eat what is good here, ie south Indian. Everything else is not as good.

A Royal Retreat in the Heart of Mission: I had the distinct pleasure of dining at the regal Udupi Palace, a sanctuary where time stands still and every dish tells a story. Accompanying me was Stephanie, the Duchess of Dosa, whose loyalty to this establishment is the stuff of legend. She’s brought over 50 dear friends to this Indian gem - personally I think it's high time the owner considers bestowing upon her the honor of a complimentary meal or two! We started with the House Curry Dosa, a majestic creation that commands your attention. This isn't just a dosa; it's a scroll of ancient culinary wisdom rolled out on your plate. Stuffed with makhani curry, spring vegetables, and topped with spiced paneer, each bite was like uncovering a secret spice route of yore. It's the kind of dish that could start a flavor revolution. My taste buds aren’t used to it. As a “medium spice guy”, I was interested to learn how spicy the dishes were but found it mild. Then there's the Spinach Paneer Dosa, a verdant treasure map that leads straight to the heart of Udupi's kitchen. Smothered in spinach chutney and stuffed with paneer, it's as if Mother Nature herself cooked you a personal meal. This dosa doesn't just fill your stomach; it nourishes the soul. Now, let's not forget the palace itself. In the bustling heart The Mission, Udupi Palace stands as a timeless fortress. The outside world fades away as you cross the threshold, replaced by an oasis of calm and sensory delight. Here, the city's busy citizens find solace and pure enjoyment, a testament to the palace's dual mastery of tradition and tranquility. As for Stephanie, the restaurant's unofficial ambassador, her passion for Udupi Palace is a beacon for all food lovers. Her stories, as enticing as the aromas wafting from the kitchen, draw friends from all over. In conclusion, Udupi Palace isn't just serving meals; it's serving experiences. This isn't merely a restaurant; it's a culinary kingdom where each dish is a crown jewel. So, here's to Stephanie, the heart of this palace, and to the dishes that make Udupi a royal affair to remember.

Love the ambience and the authentic tastes from Karnataka. Had just picked a place based on reviews and was not disappointed at all. The portion size and quality are great too and not too spicy on the palette! Adding to it, the menu options are strictly Indian vegetarian.

Extremely friendly staff, and delicious food vegetarian South Indian food. I got the sada dosa and had a blast eating it and tasting the various chutneys. Pretty busy at 8pm - had a party of 2 and waited in line for 10min. Restaurant was also very generous and let us stay until 10pm on a Friday night.
