3.5 stars. 3 for savory foods and 5 for desserts/cheese. And 4 for ambiance, although I felt the timing between dishes was way too slow.
Overall, I was really hoping to love this restaurant since it’s Japanese french and I usually seriously enjoy that mix. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed in the savory foods except a couple things. And this is a one Michelin star place so I definitely had higher expectations than usual.
The best savory dishes were the a5 wagyu (very high quality beef and cooked perfectly) and the scallops with potato and truffles. Other dishes were just okay, nothing memorable and a lot of the flavors mixed together just didn’t produce synergy.
The cheese dish and dessert were both to die for, honestly superb. I wish they could just serve me dessert. :)
I’m glad I tried this place but probably wouldn’t be back.
Have dined here twice. Each time we had a wonderful time, enjoying the presentation and flavor of every dish. Highly recommended.
One of our favorite places to eat at in San Francisco. Good mix of Japanese and French. Slight menu changes each time we go which is nice
Such a wonderful fine dining experience for my husband's birthday. We were seated in their small dining room with only 4 other couples. The room was very intimate and we got the best seat in the house.
All of the dishes were so carefully plated and design, the wine coinnesseur and waiters were so knowledgeable in the ingredients and took the time to explain them and the technique used. Ingredients were very fresh.
They gave us extra desserts to take home with us! Will definitely be back for another special occasion.
Good food, reasonable price. The service was somehow made me feel "pressure" not pleasure, though.
Amazing place! Awesome food and wine + great owner! I will be back here again.
The superb dining experience at this 1 Star Michelin restaurant is unparalleled. They have only 1 seating per night where all the courses are served at the same time, so you will have to time your visit. The food is obviously delicious, but the atmosphere and the experience is what made it unique. They have a romantic setting to that is great for couples and also host larger groups up to 12 for special events. It's a local get that shouldn't be overlooked. I'd highly recommend it.
Excellent food tasting menu and service wasn't too formal, just the right amount of friendliness and professionalism. There were interesting wines paired with each course. I think its a really cool combination of French and Japanese food. There are only a handful of tables and as they only have a single sitting per night, it makes for an intimate and exclusive feeling.
Such a wonderful place! The courses feature on traditional French cuisine, but incorporating much Japanese element. Most of the courses are seafood, in which sushi fish, cooked in French style, is imported directly from Japan. It reminds me of a number of high-end French restaurants in Tokyo. Beware that the interval between courses is a little bit long, but other than that everything is great. Ingredient is so fresh; so it totally worths.
A restaurant that requires time to enjoy… the menu presents an attractive offering… the Uni is a favorite. The wine list is not deep, but expected… not all pairings enhance the flavors… excellent service, almost to a fault… such presentations require time and good company to enjoy… sadly, the downside for me was the excelerated timetable due to the scheduling of reservations…
