I am enamored at the fact that this place can be just as good as next door but be a totally different experience. While the vibe has its similarities, this experience is perfect for also any occasion and is impressive to bring out-of-towners to. It feels so cozy, and service is pristine without all the white table cloth stiffness and etiquette. The food blows me away every time, and the consistency of their superstars like the potato caviar cloud(which i would totally order 3 just to myself if i didnt find that self embarrassing) & Liberty Farms half duck dish is definitely a core memory. Be forewarned the portion is generous with the fried rice, and if you're going on a date here, you may leave with leftovers if you extensively traverse the rest of the menu like we did. Love the detail and the care they put into simple requests like letting them know the reason for the visit is a birthday. Also, I love the nod to their sister establishment next door with that peanut milk, so good!

We’ve been to almost all of the 1 Michelin starred restaurants in SF and this might be our favorite. Beautiful interior. Reasonably priced. Absolutely delicious food. The duck is a must.

A coworker had the masa dumplings and the sausage salad dishes. He liked both of them. I wasn't hungry. Just got the ginger soda which was fresh and great. The place is very warm and welcoming with all the wood in the space. The double floor is nice. Worth a stop in town.

This is my new favorite restaurant in sf. All of the dishes were tasty but the seaweed noodles blew all of our minds and the duck is incredible for the price. The only thing we would skip would be the octopus pancake. We'll definitely be back!

I’m a big duck fan and always get duck wherever I go. For the first time in a while, the duck was actually good. It was cooked perfectly - juicy and tender. The complementary fried rice was ok - a bit too soft? And clumped together? Maybe I’m just used to Chinese fried rice. The other appetizers were good but not outstanding. My favorite was the potato caviar cloud.

This was on my list for a very long time. It’s a classy place with great quality food, friendly staff , classic meals with full of flavours and add a touch of special to it. Definitely a good spot for a special occasion. It’s booked mostly, recommended doing a reservation a week in advance.

I came here after trying state bird provisions and I simply cant decide which one I like best. They are both the best restaurants in SF in my opinion. Great huge portions, a wholesome menu with different options. All will blow your mind. Just delicious. Can’t go without trying the duck and the fish. They are just divine. I wish the fish was a little more spicy but it’s just so great in flavors that I can let that pass. So bring a big group of friends because the portions are big. It’s a great place for a date, but if you really wanna enjoy it you wanna come with more people. They have a great wine selection, even beer, and good cocktails too. There’s a reason why the one punch man cocktail is their signature cocktail. Desserts are good too, specially the peanut milk. Perfect ending. It is a bit expensive, but considering the food quality, ambiance and the portions all good.

One of my top spots in SF! Everything was perfect! Must get the duck dish. We had 4 dishes + 2 desserts just two of us. We were really full! Recommend order one each for cloud potato cause I didn’t think I would like this but now I want to go back for this. For two, recommend ordering 3 dishes max if you’re getting duck dish.

I’ve never been more convinced that progress is a beautiful thing. In this case, The Progress. The atmosphere is spacious but cozy, rustic and modern at the same time. The cocktails are outstanding. The staff is exceptional by every measure. The food… well this is why we’re here. The food is absolutely phenomenal. There is nothing on the menu that won’t deliver an involuntary sigh of joy, but if you need some direction: the tempura squash, the burrata, and the caviar cloud are a good start, and if you don’t order the duck you may want to reconsider your life choices. I mean look at that dish. You could take a photo and frame it, it’s so beautiful.

Service was practically perfect. Our server was incredible, he was very aware of our table situation at all times. He took all food orders at once, and planned out a four course meal for us. He did an excellent job coordinating the courses, and the courses were all timed perfectly. Just enough time between each course to build an appetite. One thing I will say is that the wait for dessert was a little long, but I suppose some people would prefer it that way. All of the dishes were excellent, but the meat was what mainly stood out to me. We had the pork, the hangar steak, the trout, and the duck. All were cooked perfectly, but the pork and trout were the favorites. Dessert was my favorite part, so it was worth the wait. The mochi crepe with milk chocolate ice cream and pluots slapped so hard. Of course the dinner was very expensive. We spent around $110 per person. Not for everyone, but if you're looking for an experience, I definitely recommend this place. Definitely worthy of their Michelin Star.
