Paragon Deli Cafe

This is a small little cafe tucked back in what seems like an office plaza. Espresso drinks and wonderful breakfast meals. Two dishes they have here, which are hard to find, is the Croque Monsieur and the Croque Madame. We had the Madame and it was EXCELLENT! Espresso drinks were also very good. Well decorated place, quaint.

Everyone who worked there was incredibly nice and the food was great! I had the Pennsylvania Dutch Smoked Sue and it was very good, solid amount of meat and cheese, and the veggies/dressing brightened it up just the right amount to not feel too heavy. Definitely give this spot a visit if you’re in the area! The owner stopped and talked with us for 20 minutes; ask Ron about the deviled egg plates when you go.

I’m only in shelter Island once a year for a professional conference. I always go to Port side café for breakfast sandwich. However, compelled by an amazing yelp review, I decided to opt for the paragon deli. This was a fabulous choice. I had a breakfast sandwich on a croissant with crispy bacon. It was in dulcet. Sunshine cashier tempted me with hashbrowns, yet another indulgence. When I got back to my hotel to enjoy breakfast over looking the Marina, I realized she added a cookie. What amazing service. Be sure to notice the deviled egg plates hanging above the kitchen. There is quite a collection from all over the world. These people are authentically kind and the food is amazing. Highly recommend.

When passion meets top-notch class, customer service, and consistency you get ParAgon Deli Cafe! Although San Diego is chock full of amazing dining options, not all businesses meet the basic requirements which leave you anticipating your return to the establishment - as a visitor or local. Thankfully, I am a local and privied to unlimited visits at this wonderful establishment. The entire STAFF is amazing! Upon walking through the door, I was immediately greeted by a friendly female voice behind the counter who also wore a warming big smile on her face. This is Miss Cass. I've visited at this point a few more times and she's consistently this kind and personable. The all-stars of this place deserve their own awards every year - Ron (Owner), Miss Cass, Miss Helen, and Cari (Ron's daughter). Each time I walk in, I feel like an old friend of the family (-owned business) and it is truly genuine. Although I am not a pet owner, I've witnessed the crew address some of the local fur babies - along with their owners - by name. Ron is very well-traveled and has shared some of the most delightful stories of his travels with me. His stories bring a smile to my face. Hearing about how ParAgon Deli Cafe came to be is truly inspiring and refreshing. He's such a wonderful storyteller that I've recommended he start a podcast to share his travel adventures and experiences. Cari (Ron's daughter) even shared that he has helped and taught many people, including family members, how to travel - from the U.S. to Europe. What a gift he is to this life. The FOOD is phenomenal! I've been blown away each time at the quality and consistency of the service and food. So far, I've had the BEST Avocado Toast in San Diego, coffee (illy), and breakfast Sandwich on wheat (with egg, veggies, and turkey). I never need to add anything to any of my food or beverage(s). Everything is always prepared to perfection! Side note: I'm always so eager to dig into my food here and forgot to take pics of my dishes. However, I remembered to take pic of my carrot cake. Delish! Let's talk ATMOSPHERE & CLEANLINESS, shall we? Although the cafe is part of a small strip of other businesses, ParAgon Deli Cafe stands out on its own. The ambiance is spectacular - from the cozy patio out front with cute, yet spacious bistro tables, to the inside dining room. This isn't your typical "faux" European-inspired cafe. You can feel authenticity as soon as you walk in. The ceiling is copper and accentuated with the cutest light fixtures and rotating fans. The walls are lined with decorative art pieces, glass stained windows/frames and the best collection of egg plates I've ever seen. If you are as conscious of cleanliness as I am, you would appreciate how clean the place is - from the patio to the kitchen and even the restroom. I always feel my food is handled with care and I never have to ask for my tables and chairs to be wiped down before I sit (as I frequently do at many other larger establishments). The restroom... oh my! The decor extends into the restroom which is ALWAYS clean, well stocked (toilet seat covers, tissue, paper towels, hand soap, etc.), cozy, and wheelchair accessible. This is such a special place that I am usually a little sad when it's time to leave. I've included pics but please do yourself a favor and visit the place in person.

Love the New York Deli Style Reuben! The guys made it special order - half with sauerkraut and half with cole slaw. Tender and tasty corned beef! The seasoned fries are perfect. Carrot cake and peanut butter chocolate cake — yum! Love the decor in this nice cafe. Warm, friendly, and attentive customer service! Will definitely come back!
