we love their carne asada fries and rolled tacos so much that if someone is visiting from out of town we take them here
Great, fresh Mexican food. Open 24 hours. Prices are reasonable! Highly recommend! Small eat in area but everything comes ready for take out.
Best Mexican food in town. But hey, of you don't think so that's ok. It's worth checking out if you haven't been. Best burrito, but they have so much more as far as their options. I love a toasty outside to my burrito and these folks always hook it up without me having to ask again to make it nice and toasty. Filled to the brim with meat and veggies, and no need to charge extra for guacamole. It's in there! Enjoy your next Mexican craving at Humberto's! 🌯
There is a good reason for the line up.
Line up and order, get a number and wait. There's tables available for dine-in but limited.
Service as expected for these shops. Very friendly team.
Food was hot! You get bottles of sauce to use as you wish!
I ordered the fish and carne asada. Light coating on the fish, very juicy.
One of the best shrimp burritos I ever had and the portion is plentiful. The green salsa just elevates the flavor even further. Tried the Cabeza taco and it is flavorful and melt in your mouth goodness. The parking lot is small, but finding Street parking isn't too bad.
Obviously prices has gone up but so has everywhere else. They did some recent beautification. Food and sauce is usually on point, better than other small taco shops I've tried. And I love that they are not sheisty on their sauces.
So, this place was pretty good overall. The vibe in here is a bit run-down and claustrophobic, but not quite hole-in-the-wall. It's fine enough. The cashier was less than friendly and seemed quite impatient to be taking my order. She had a condescending tone with me, and wanted me to hurry up and order when there was no one behind us in line. This is the reason I'm deducting a star.
The food was pretty good (I got a bean and cheese burrito and a hard-shell chicken taco); the beans are good, the cheese in the burritos was half unmelted, half melted (which I prefer), and the chicken taco was great. Is it the best Mexican food I've ever had? No, not at all, but it was good and the prices weren't insane.
I'm not a local, so I don't know what other places have to offer, but I wouldn't say no to coming here again. Give it a shot if you haven't yet.
I grew up eating here every holiday break with my abuela living on island ave. Taste buds change but they are a little too heavy on the salt now. Went with family as we do on visits. I usually get the rolled taquitos but this time I got the chimichanga! It was bomb but my daughter's enchiladas were very salty.
Good prices for the food. Cabeza taco was a little too salty for me.
Amazing 😻 I had the carne asada burrito. It was delicioso with sweet onions and guacamole and added the green salsa, which wasn’t too spicy but very special. I went at 1:30 and there was no line. The lady was helpful and nice and I felt like it was in Mexico. It might’ve helped that I was speaking in Spanish. Glad to find this new spot!!
