This place is legendary, found out about it when I lived in golden hill when I was 21. There is no better place to have a steak and a drink in my opinion. The rat pack used to hang there, need I say more?
A rocky start but exceptional finish! Once you settle in to the shoulder to shoulder wait at the bar, notice the flow. The regulars politely tap your shoulder coming through. Make eye contact over the bar & Zach introduces himself, asks your name, pours an amazing drink, by which time if you’re not happy you’re not human. Lean into the wait, make new friends and pay attention to the details. The steaks are hearty & delicious. The people & vibe are stellar. This is a glorious dive, worthy of your time & devotion.
Amazing dive bar in San Diego. This place has classic martinis and a cook at your own pace grill where they serve a variety of steaks. It is easy to lose 6 hours on any given weekend. Highly recommend!
I have always loved this place. If you don't like the way your steak is cooked, it's your bloody fault! Order your meat and cook it yourself on the grill. So much fun and a delicious time! Must do in San Diego.
Nice bar and restaurant that is great for lounging and having conversation. They have a full bar and the bar is long with plenty of seating. The restaurant is fun because you get to grill your own food which is interactive, a great option if you’re hanging out with friend or on a date. The place itself is a little dark, as the lighting is very dim. Overall I will continue to visit because they always provide a good experience! Surrounding area is also walkable and cute.
This is a old hidden gem.

Food is good considering you cook it the way you want it.

Place can get a little loud and when it's busy. And when busy it's BUSY.
Not over priced in anyway.
Bottom line places are trying to be as cool as this one is.
Classic cocktails and grill your own steaks! Perfect for an interactive date night. I love the dark, old school feel. The old fashioned was tasty and I did the surf and turf (small steak with a salmon veggie skewer) which also comes with garlic bread you grill. A fun place!
A self-grilling style bar. Ambient atmosphere with music. Good steaks and food. You cook the steaks yourself on a grill along with anything else. The staff help instruct on use, very accommodating. A unique experience.
The atmosphere here is lovely, like an intimate speakeasy vibe. Food was delicious and fun to grill your own steaks, and service was extremely friendly and attentive. Martinis were strong too! Had the best date night here.
Friendly Staff, open late!! Kitchy retro interior, very busy at 9pm when we arrived, but was able to get a table. Not sure why it takes so long to get your meal when it is uncooked meat? (Chicken came marinated in plastic wrap, be sure to remove it before cooking (;-) The Old Fashion was delicious!!! And others at the table enjoyed their steak’s. Reasonable prices!!!
Turf Supper Club is at once familiar and foreign. It feels like a hip diver bar, but is also a unique restaurant offering high-quality meats and vegetables for you to self-grill. I love that everything is drenched in red light.
My favorite menu items are the cheeseburger, vegetable kabobs, and flank steak. They provide bottles of Worcestershire, Tabasco, BBQ sauce, and more for your food. The best drinks are the sneaky tiki and the martini with blue cheese olives.
The staff members are super friendly and attentive. The jukebox selections are hard to beat. The bill won’t be outrageous. Definitely come through to Turf Club whether it’s for dinner, a drink, or dates.
Vintage gold. We had a couple drinks on a Saturday night. Awesome local bar, reminiscent of the vintage red boothed stake houses. Just on a much smaller scale.
Will definitely come again.
