This place is amazing! We went during happy hour and I would highly recommend! Every, single thing on their happy hour menu I would rate 10 out of 10!! The staff is excellent! Drinks were amazing!!
I also realized I forgot my sunglasses there and didn't go back until the NEXT day. The staff found them and returned them to me! Unbelievable!! Everyone I know should go to this restaurant!

The Oceanaire Seafood Room lives up to its name by offering only the finest and freshest sustainably caught seafood. With its sprawling, dark-wood dining room and tables adorned in white linen, you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped back in time to a classic 1930s ocean liner.
Four of us had dinner at Oceanaire. We started with an assortment of oysters, and we were amazed at how fresh they were. All of their seafood is fresh that day. I ordered scallops topped dynamite (spicy crab) and my husband ordered the grilled baja white sea bass. We also ordered the brussles sprouts. They have a great wine selection. Great menu. Great staff. Not sure why their rating is a 3.5, should definitely be over a 4.
Planned a light bite b/f baseball game on a Tuesday night. Bar area was nearly packed, but I managed to squeeze in at the end. $7 generous Absolut martini (x2) paired perfectly well w/ a dozen freshly shucked oysters of 3 types. There were over a dozen choices from the east & west coasts of N America, but 3 BC varieties were offered at $1 each as part of happy hour. JR & the rest of the staff, incl the 2 chefs shucking directly in front of me, were prompt, professional, & collegial.
Fresh, fresh seafood. Oceanaire only serves what's fresh that day. This is good news and bad news -- good becuase the fish is exceedingly fresh and bad news because once the selection is gone, there's no more waiting in the freezer.
We visited at about 10:30 PM and some of the more popular selections were gone.
Don't pass up the fired asparagus. Fat stalks of celery are lightly coated with cornmeal and fried very delicately leaving the asparagus crisp. The fried celery sits atop a lemony sauce.
Crabcakes are exactly as advertised -- little breading and lots of flavor.
Succulent bone-in ribeye is a good choice for the non-fish eater.
No room for the beautiful Baked Alaska.
Proper and gracious service. Not too loud -- able to converse comfortably.

We had dinner at oceanaire last night and I have to admit it was good but pricy. Our server was knowledgeable and service was quick. The food was really decent but not quite up to the price.Atmosphere was a bit noisy due to a table of 15 guys next to us. Other than that everyone had a good time. I probably won't come back just simply because there's SO MANY other good places in the gaslamp district.

Romantic Anniversary Dinner!. We had a great time at this restaurant! The service was some of the best I've ever seen. They really know how to treat customers! Our waiter greeted us by name and spent a good amount of time going over the menu and giving us recommendations which were all spot on. The food came in huge portions and was skillfully prepared. We got a free desert of flaming baked Alaska because it was our anniversary. The dinner was quite pricey, but we left stuffed!
Banana Split made me feel young again! Good for 4 people.
Their Manhattan cocktail was superb.
Great service.
The famous crab cakes are pretty good - all real crab meat - with a tasty mustard-mayo topping. The Kid Dynamite Baja Yellowtail was good - spiced with the Sriracha (rooster) sauce. We loved Crisp truffled cauliflower with yellow raisins. Finished off with the flaming Bombe Alaska - with mint chocolate chip ice cream!
Unbelievable, a fantastic meal of mamouth proportions! Freshest oysters, Sweetest king crab, fantastic service, a real treat! I went with a larger group and was thoroughly impressed by this establishment, kudos!
High quality ingredients but as others have posted the prices are high and portions were small. The room felt dated and our service fell a bit flat. With lots of options in the area it's unlikely I'll return but the food was prepared perfectly and we really enjoyed the chef's take on garlic noodles.
This restaurant stays true to its name and serves up some very decadent and flavorful fresh seafood. The oysters are fantastic; they were nice and briny, a little sweet, and served with freshly grated horseradish, cocktail sauce, and a mignonette. The server brought out three small amuse of Ahi, Cucumber, and Oranges that were quite delicious. We also ordered a Maryland crabcake; it had almost no filler, just pure, delicious lump crab meat, served with a dijon mayonnaise, and drawn butter. For entrees we had the Kampachi fillet special, seafood medley, and shrimp & filet mignon. All the dishes were well prepared, and very tasty. Since the filet and seafood medley came without a starch, we ordered the truffled mashed potatoes which were rich, buttery, and creamy. All in all the experience was wonderful, the prices were very fair, and I look forward to my next visit.
My wife’s food was AMAZING best scallops I have ever tasted. I got the swordfish which was really good as well but a little on the spicy side. The waiters were very professional and quick to serve. They made sure to check in often to see if we needed anything. Pricing was a little high but the atmosphere was very extravagant. Would definitely go back.
Great large restaurant on the second floor off the street. Large elegant dining room with good seafood and steaks. Lots of shellfish and many fish choices (but sometimes they run out). The service from our waiter Javier is great also.
Happy hour oysters, appies and drinks were great here! Sunday and Tuesday buck a shuck oysters from 5-6pm. Friendly staff, elegant high end atmosphere. Enjoyed the truffle fries and drinks too!
We plan our SD trip around coming here every time we visit and this time we did back to back nights here because it was so incredible the first night. Crab cakes are a must!! And don't forget the bread pudding! Everything we have tried has been amazing and the service was impeccable. Ben is an allstar and deserves so much recognition for his amazing service. He was one of the main reasons we came back the second night and brought local friends that had never been here. I am sure they are also now hooked and will be back and spread the word. Thank you!
Perfect food and service. Had the crab cake for starter. Tasted fresh with meat and little fillers.
Scallops were perfectly done and with a tasty creamy sauce.
The cappuccino martini was tasty with a punch.
Thanks my friends. Nice atmosphere! Oysters are so fresh, but steak is soso, seafood is more impressive. Get some red wine and white wine! Wonderful time here
Wonderful place for a 3 course dining experience. Came with our company for dinner. The shrimp cocktail was wonderful. Shrimp are large. The calamari were also very good. I had stuffed halibut and they also have a variety of cheesecake dor dessert.
Service was awesome and food was absolutely incredible. I got the Halibut Dybamite that came with crab ontop. My girlfriend got the grouper with lemon butter. Appetizers were asparagus and potatoes au gratin. Highly recommend it. We went for our anniversary and they had a menu with "Happy Anniversary" written on the top. Also comped us a small appetizer and huge brownie fudge/whip cream with a 151 liqueur poured over it and lit on fire. Go check it out.
