Karl Strauss Brewing Company

Came here for lunch with friends. I've never been and was utterly surprised by the location. To my utter surprise, a brewery pub that's styled like a Japanese garden. I thought the pictures on Google were just by mistake but nope, the place is gorgeous. It isn't a big "park" around the pub, but it's good enough to wander. The area around is also good for walks around the office buildings (aside from the construction happening next door). Food tasted good, but also ymmv. I loved their brussel sprouts, I probably could keep going just for them (crunchy, savory sweet). I also got the ginger salmon, but I didn't like that as much. It tasted alright, but I also don't like too much ginger and it was close to that edge of too much ginger. Didn't try the alcohol, though they do have a pretty good selection including hard kombucha.

Love it here! Great beer options. Mac on Tap is the best mac and cheese in San Diego. And the koi pond and outdoor heaters make the atmosphere so enjoyable - I drive our of my way to this location every time because of the ambiance. It's all self-order since covid so there isn't really any full service anymore, but everyone is willing to get whatever you need if you ask.

It has everything! 5 stars! The view, atmosphere, and food! The service is top teir!! I MEAN HOW WAS THE SERVICE like Michelin Star restaurant type!! 👌 wow, it just made everything 100% great! The food was a great simple menu. But everything is delicious. Some beers came in 4oz, so I was able to taste a couple of flavors with my meal 😋 and listen to yall . I'm not a beer person, but this beer 🍺 WAS a QUALITY! I'll be back everyday for ever now! Thank you!it was kinda hidden, though, in between very corporate buildings. With gps I passes it many times lol .

SD by far best of the chain - food, surroundings, staff. Love the pond. Had a burger, and got fish & chips to go - best in years! Liked the Chai me a river cider - interesting taste instead of usual apple/pear/etc.. Really friendly, laid-back staff. Tons of parking. Wouldn't have known it was here if hadn't gone looking for it.

A great relaxing place to have a craft beer or two! Over the top food and service! As I was walking in the entrance, it reminded me of a Shang-ri-la ! The garden/water features did not disappoint! Thank you to crew at Karl Strauss for a great experience and clean restroom! I will be sure to come back!

Karl Strauss is located in a business-heavy area. It is a popular lunch/dinner spot for those working in the area. Though it is a brewery, the food is substantially better than your average brewery. They have an extensive selection of burgers, salads, steak, pork chops, fish and some fun appetizers like hummus, fries, wings, and poke. They have an extensive beer selection and there is something for everyone. The atmosphere is also fun. Even though it is located in a business park, there is extensive trees and gardenscapes, even a giant koi pond. A great break!

We always had good times at Karl Strauss. The pond in the restaurant is beautiful and gives it a relaxing vibe. It's a huge restaurant with a lot of tables but our servers are very attentive and always there to attend to our requests. The pita chips on the mediterranean hummus is on the salty side for me but everything else were delicious especially the crispy brussel sprouts.
