I ordered by phone for 10 pieces sashimi, and this is what I get for $60! The price on ubereat is just $45, but they charged me $60 in store, without explaining anything! I ate many Michelin star restaurants, including French Laundry, and never seen such ridiculous pricing without anything! Don’t come here EVER!

Wow! I felt like I was back in Tokyo. The fish was so fresh and sweet. It was a delight. The tempura was light and crispy. The miso soup was flavorful. It was beautifully plated too; as is the Japanese way. It wasn't cheap but it was the best sushi I've had since Tokyo. It brought back lovely memories. We'll definitely be going back, even though it's an hour from home.

Fish was fresh and quality above average. Service needed improvement, they made a few mistakes. A little pricey overall.

Many items were out of stock. The staff was inexperienced and touched my plate to introduce each of the sushi. They charged me $17.50 my plum wine which was the cheapest Choya available and then served it in small tea cup. The green tea was cold. The omakase had cheaper types of fish than before. The owner asked if we were done 30 minutes into dinner when. I omakase hadn't been served yet. I will no longer come here.

When coming up to drop off at SFO we found this little gem of a Japanese restaurant. It brought us back to our trips to Japan and tasted as fresh as it did over there. The sushi was made masterfully and displayed elegantly. I will be going out of my way to come here in the future but it'll be worth it!

If you've ever sat at a sushi counter in Japan, Gintei is where you want to be for an authentic, fresh and delicious experience. Here the chefs do it right. The ōtoro and the wagyu melt in your mouth, the agedashi tofu is soft inside and crispy outside -- but not too much! -- and the sashimi omakase selection is an all-around feast for the palate. If I lived close by, I would be there every week! Gintei is the kind of place where I wouldn't hesitate to bring my Japanese friends. It's /that/ good.
