I have been eating at Jacala for almost 70 years! It IS THE BEST MEXICAN RESTAURANT in San Antonio. Growing up it was less than 5 miles from my home. The cheese enchiladas are to die for and my personal favorite: the Puffy Taco. I grew up with the staff as we ate there almost every Friday night until I left for college. I go every time I'm in town. Celebrated birthdays, family get together and my rehearsal dinner! While painting my mom's house, I ate there Every Day for 2 weeks! It IS the BEST!

The salsa is amazing and the chips made fresh, oil is clean. Big portion for the nachos with the beef fajita. Comes with a side of guacamole and sour cream with tomato. Upon request for jalapeños. They use American cheese for the nachos which is a huge plus for me. their water taste is clean. The place as well ventilated. I will be coming back again at another time to try their enchilada plate.

I would've given it a five. Waited 30 minutes for my food and not once were we offered a refill, sat us in the back, maybe a total of 10 customers in all inside so I know they weren't busy. Food was delicious but not worth the horrible customer service.

I've been going to Jacala's since 1992. Still one of the best Mexican restaurants in town. Great food, great atmosphere.

I was disappointed. The puffy taco was VERY small. The enchiladas would have been ok if they had been hot. The rice was good but warm not hot. Beans same story. Tortillas were not warmed up correctly. They had cold edges. I hesitate to go back. I have been here before and it was so good! Not sure what happened.

A San Antonio treasure been around for more than 50 years been going there since I was a kid with my dad although my dad's not here anymore I think of him every time I walk to those doors not only that it's the best Mexican food in town best enchiladas and great puffy tacos thank you jacalas for many years of service and great food

Awesome restaurant! The wife stuck her head in to see if there would be a wait, the staff set us up a table while she ran back out to let me know they had seating available. Maybe 4 or 5 people came out to ask how our meal was and if anything was needed. The enchiladas were the best I’ve had.
