Charly's Cafe

I drove past this place and was not too busy. I decided to give it a try. The food was great. My experience started off well as the waitress asked me what I would like to drink as she handed me a menu. She returned with my drink as well as a complimentary basket with chips and salsa. I looked over the menu. I asked the server if they had any lunch specials. She said yes, The Parrillada. Which is served on a griddle pan. It includes grilled beef and chicken fajitas plus sausage w/ onions and bell peppers. The meal also comes with refried beans, rice and lettuce and tomato salad. Also included are your choice of tortillas. I ordered the flour which were also tasty. Tea is included with free refills. All for $8.99 The servers were great today. She kept my iced tea filled the entire time. I will return to try other dishes and tacos.

Great little place to enjoy some homemade Tex-Mex food. Enough seating inside and cozy setting. Sat down and our waitress was friendly and took our drink orders. There is plenty of items to choose from on their menu. She came back and I decided to get the Charly plate which came with your choice of eggs, refried beans, potatoes, and barbacoa with two flour tortillas and sweet tea to drink. My mom got the nopales with egg taco and chicharron & egg. Wait time was not long at all and our food was served hot. The plate was very fulfilling and flavorful. My mom enjoyed her tacos and said the tacos were stuffed. The chicharron taco was very delicious. Parking can be a problem in front but they do offer more behind the restaurant. Restaurant was fresh and clean and customer service was friendly. They also offer to go orders which makes it more convenient to call in and pick up. Will go back and try something else from their menu.

The BEST food on the Southside. Caldo de Res and Menudo ( I'm extremely picky about my Menudo), are to die for. My husband and I see the other restaurants (and we've tried a lot of them), are packed and NONE can compare to Charly's. We try something different each time (we go at least once a week), and have yet to be disappointed. Staff is awesome too!

I really enjoy eating at this restaurant. The staff is super friendly and you never wait long for refills or anyting. I also love the atmosphere because they play Christian music in the background and you can tell the owners have a Christian faith. If you're really hungry you need to order the Mocajete.
