We celebrated my daughter's birthday here. From the minute i called to make reservations, the guy on the phone was very polite and accommodated all of our needs. Moving on to the actual dinner, our chef was just absolutely AMAZING, she put on the most unbelievable show for us and the dinner was probably the best i have ever had and i have been to probably every steak house in town. This was our first time here and the whole experience blew my mind. I will definitely be going back in the near future.
Great event. It is rare that my family is able to visit and see me, so when the time came, I brought them right over here. The executive chef did not disappoint. My dad had no chance at maintaining his strong and silent type personality as the chef had many jokes up his sleeves. We all had a great time and left with full bellies. 😀
Absolutely loved the atmosphere, the chef at our table was absolutely amazing and made us laugh the entire time. He was so funny. I think his name was Anthony? As for our server, she was a little dry and kind of timid. This might not be the industry for her. All in all the food was excellent. The atmosphere was great. We had a wonderful time. Would totally go again on a special occasion only due to this being kind of a pricey place. Bring your wallet! All in all, wonderful!
Awesome customer service, the food was delicious. Noticed some spots in the whole restaurant needed to be cleaned but all in all it’s a very nice place.
We sat at the bar and the waitress was so nice I'm not really a drinker so I asked her if she could recommend something to me. And since we were in a Japanese restaurant she suggested Sake. OMG it was so good . Thank you for making my night perfect
It was our first time eating here and it was such a great experience! Although we didn't know a reservation was required they were able to accommodate my family of 4. We shared a table with 4 other young men & women we didn't know but no one seemed to mind.
Our server was courteous and our chef Tommy was AMAZING! Not only did he cook and do the usual tricks but he made jokes the whole time and it was very entertaining for my husband, two little girls and I. The hibachi chicken was great, veggies and fried rice were awesome, my husband said his hibachi steak was alright. We will most definitely go back and surely request Tommy be our chef.
Great atmosphere especially when you sit with a group that likes to interact with you. We've been served by Tommy, Juan & Matt "Vader" and all of them put their all into their food and service. You want to be romantic and left alone, might want to reconsider. You want to come be a little funny, a little loud
and have a great show put on by awesome chefs while your sitting with new people.. Come and enjoy! This place should have a perfect score! Quit your whining! My boss treated us to a "Good Bye" dinner for one of my co workers (She's amazing & will truly be missed!) She had so much fun! Would definitely suggest that u visit Sumo! The food was awesome! The staff was great!

Fun experience and amazing food! Only complaint is the waiter came over multiple times to confirm the order. Also cook took a while to start our food. Price wise I've had just as good Hibachi for much less.
I took my wife, daughter and son-in-law to Sumo's, and we had a wonderful time. The food is absolutely delicious, but the best part of the whole experience was the chef who served us. He was delightful what with all of the food preparation and serving tricks that he had "up his sleeve," so to speak. The "volcano" was my favorite (with real fire, no less!), and the way the food was so skillfully prepared it left one in continual amazement! When I visit San Antonio, Texas I will definitely eat at Sumo Japanese Steakhouse again!
