Had there daily special. Chicken fried steak. Cook perfect thin breading and plenty of steak. Will definitely go back. Service was quick and great!

1st Time Here. Daughter of The lady that owns this Restaurant told me they are from Chicago Illinois👍Took my Mom& Dad since they were visiting San Antonio.
So I took them to Taco Rey👍My mother is EXTREMELY VERY PICKY! I ask my Mom wow you have not made your FACES? She says because this place I really like 👍

We've been coming here since the 90's. We live in Ft.worth but it's our go to place when we're in town. The food, prices and service are always the best in San Antonio.

This is a go to spot after church on Sundays, but not sure what happened to the lady who use to run the counter but the new older lady likes to over charge you. Always ask for an itemized receipt I paid $60 for 10 tacos then mother in law who frequents the restaurant with her co-workers for lunch has been overcharged before realizing the charges so we now ask for an itemized receipt to confirm charges.

Restaurant floors and tables were clean. Staff is very friendly and helpful with food selections. Chip and salsa were delicious. Wow, cheese enchildas gravy is the best. Rice was moist and fluffy. Refried beans had great flavor. French fries were hot and crispy. Chicken fried steak was just ok....white gravy was great with fries.
I recommend stopping by for the lunch specials.

The food here is OUT-FN-STANDING. My coworkers and I eat here at least once a week, I highly recommend their "Chicken Fried chicken" 🔥 as well as their Carne Guisada w/cheese 💣

The good has authentic home made flavor. We enjoyed the small town restaurant atmosphere with friendly staff and very reasonable prices. We will definitely come back to try other dishes.

So I heard a rumor that the BEST chicken fried steak in ALL of good ol’ San Antonio is at a place called Tacos El Rey - and that they only serve these fabled and supposed best chicken fried steaks on “chicken fried steak night” - so we called and they told us that “chicken friend steak night” is Tuesday night - and so here we are! - and man oh man, this chicken fried steak is out of this world, amazing - I think it might actually be THE best chicken fried steak in San Antonio!
