So after the parade we all decided to go to lubys on Guadalupe and General McMullen
As we were a large group , right away they set up tables together for us and even gave us our own waitress who was wonderful and such a nice little girl who couldn't do enough for us -
On top of all that the food was really good
We are all elderly ladies and we are used to good service when we spend money - this was outstanding
Very pleasantly surprised!!
Located near Gen McMullen and Castroville Rd. Went by for lunch with my coworkers on a weekday. There weren't many people in line and more than half of the tables were free. I got the daily special of blackened tilapia with two sides for $12. The fish was delicious, as were the cabbage and green beans. Servers kept checking in on us, which was nice.
Went back weeks later and ended up with a LouAnn plate. When I came up to the cashier, I asked about the price difference between my LouAnn plate and the full entree. Turns out there was only a $2 difference, so I upgraded my plate. I expected to get a second half portion delivered to my table, but I ended up getting a full entree! Outstanding service!!
Great service, the food is delicious.
Sadly.. I found a really big bone in my fish. I informed the manager, and he apologized. I definitely did not want to eat after that.
The rest of our table was fine.
Especially if you are near Lackland AFB, Kelly Field, or Port San Antonio... Highly recommend this place! Love the lunch specials offered where you get main entree and 2 sides. They are not skimpy with the portions and the food is good quality, especially based on the price you pay! Check it out!!
Although the food was delicious, the service was not. The waitress came by and asked if we needed anything. My grandson asked for a drink refill, she left but never returned. He had to get his own. Had to get our own to go boxes too. I was going to leave a 10 dollar tip but after the service or lack of, I didn't leave anything. I don't mind tipping but I tip based on the service I get.

The fish was excellent and bigger size than I anticipated being it's been so long since I dined at lubys. But it was great and in my opinion way over priced!!!!!! Me and my dad ordered same plates even to the drink....sweet tea and it was 39.77?!!!! Yea 40.00!!!! 20 dollar plate????? Nope, too rich for my fixed income. But nice nonetheless.
While Luby’s on Main is my fave Luby’s - Luby’s Las Palmas is a close second. I took one star off though because they charge 25 cents for extra tartar sauce and that’s just plain wrong.
RIP Lubys. Hope all of Las Palmas goes under and gets taken by the bank.
It's been awhile since we got to enjoy Luby's. From the minute we went inside it brought back great memories from a decade ago. We picked up Thanksgiving package and all the trimmings. Food was excellent and prepared just how we like. Service was exceptional, even a great young man who carried the ice chest to our car. Thanks Luby's for a great, down home Thanksgiving feeling!!
Always good food, always something for every palate and taste bud. You can depend on Lubys to always deliver tasty, healthy temptations! My eyes are always bigger than my stomach but it's ok, I love the left overs! The prices have increased but for an occasional outing it's a great treat.
The wait staff was a little scattered on the day we went, seemed as if our waitress was not happy and had issues with another table. But over all we enjoyed our lunch and ate well.
We were going here for Thanksgiving we thought. Got there then noticed closed & a for lease sign up. Did they go out of business?
