So needed to try this JapaMex fusion sushi restaurant. Went on a weekday late afternoon for dinner and it was not crowded at all. Which was ok as we were able to take our time ordering. As you might have read in other posts, you order and pay at the door before getting seated. Others had a problem with this if they needed to add to their order afterwards as the had needed to line up again at the doorway. I understand the reason for this procedure as there is ony 1 person (at least when we were ther) acting as host, waiter and bus boy. So it might help to know everything you need to order beforehand. The food was great! The pictures on their IG post is what you get. (At least with pur orders) the host/waitstaff/ busboy was courteous and was able to help us with questions about the menu, again, maybe because the place was not busy at the time. Reasonable prices, cool ambiance and clean bathrooms. They might want to tone down on the club music thay had blaring. One can take only so much of that oonts oonts oonts beat. ( I'm sooo old)
Pretty delicious. Got the eel handroll “special taco” which was awesome. Also got the corny roll- Never has a roll with corn in it. It was confusing enough to be inviting. The server, Juan I believe, was SO nice.
The original location is super small so we came here- so spacious and the food is just as good! I think this is some of my favorite fusion sushi ever. I havent tried a bad roll, I love their sunomono, and the staff are pretty nice! This location is also perfect for if you're waiting on a movie 👌
One of my favorite sushi spots in the city!
I have tried the sushirritos in other restaurants and I will say that these are still hands down my favorite. El Texican is my go-to, although I always have to ask for the serranos on the side because the spice level can be a little unpredictable. Another favorite of mine is the C Roll, what I usually get when I’m not that hungry since the japarritos are pretty large.
The mix of Mexican and Japanese cuisine may seem like it would clash at first, but in reality it is quite delicious and a great concept.
I appreciate that they are still following lots of the COVID protocols, which makes me feel a little safer.
Where to start.. I have been to the location off Wurzbach and heard that this one was larger. It is indeed, this location in The Rim is very nice! Staff was great at answering questions and making recommendations! The sushi.. needless to say, was UH-mazing! Got a total of 5 rolls .. the presentation that it was brought in was super cool! Out of the 5 rolls.. I can't lock in a favorite .. ALL 5!! Lol. This isn't quite you're typical sushi place, is a fusion between Mexican and Japan.. so spicy, jalapeños, Serrano peppers, cilantro and other ingredients are used!
We love Yellowfish Sushi! They have a big roll selection and the sushi always tastes fresh! The only downside for me is that the drink menu is beer and wine only. I wish there was a bigger drink selection that included cocktails. Though, overall I like the food, the restaurant is very clean, and good service!
Service was AMAZING and helpful with "musttryit" items! Laid back fun atmosphere to hangout with friends. Great variety of items to choose from, will be back for more 🤩
Best fusion of flavors. Good portion size and great ambiance. You must come eat here for lunch, as it is a food spot.
This is my favorite sushi spot in San Antonio! I love sushi especially raw sushi but I like fried rolls too. I’ve tried different places all around town but I always end up back at yellowfish. They’re always fresh and offer great service. Dine in, pick up or delivery- you can’t go wrong with this place.
Really good quality fish, and a generous portion size. Service was great; came out very quickly.
