Went to Esmeralda's on the advice of a docent at the Mission Espada..."Thank you! Thank you!"... Awesome Mexican food, great service and a refreshing break from 'Riverwalk' prices. Photos are of the carnitas plate with charro beans, gorditas, quesadillas, (2 lunch plates, 2 quesadillas, chips with salsa and queso -- $32.) If you are in the area visiting the San Antonio missions, I highly recommend.

Mini tacos de alambre with cheese were the bomb. The charro beans had flavor, big pieces of chicharron. Everything had good flavor. It is little small inside but had great customer service. My kids both enjoy their chorizo and egg taco, and asada taco. Overall, I would go back. My husband couldnt finish his fajita quesadilla and loved the flavor of refried beans.
Went back again tried Nachos ala mexican, bien ricos🔥🔥

After touring some of the missions in the area I was hungry for lunch and this was the nearest place. I'm glad I found it. I have to say that I enjoyed the recipes at this restaurant more than any Mexican restaurant I've ever had. It was a little crowded on the inside because lunch time and good food. But the front deck is covered and open air with bar type seating facing out. Very nice when the weather is comfortable. The staff was very attentive even though they were extremely busy while it was there. Maximum stars.

Shrimp cocktail and ceviche were absolutely delicious. Family loved the posole and tortilla soup. Plenty of parking. Seating outdoors was more spacious than indoors. Wouldn’t say it was wheelchair accessible…

We were visiting from out of town and went off google reviews and customers pictures. We were not let down. Esmeralda’s was so good. We had the Mexican plate and the Flauta plate. Very tasty. Sweet tea was perfect. Wait staff was very kind and accommodating. It’s a tiny place but so worth it.

Okay my foodie travelers. If you don't know this quaint spot you should. It's a small restaurant, but the food is absolutely delicious. Great lunch specials and served with a tea for less than $10. Plates come loaded and the flavors are very authentic. They have a drive thru too. Very good Mexican food.
