I've been going to Good Time Charlie's for 35yrs. Always a Good Time at Charlie's. The food is excellent. The staff is excellent. The atmosphere is excellent. Do yourself a favor and order the Enchiladas Charlie's Style...YUM!! Fyi....Meg is the best waitress ever!!!

My wife ate here many times 10+ years ago, and she remembers that because it was so good. We decided to go here for date night last week, and it did not disappoint! I enjoyed reading some of the sports articles on the walls and learning about the history of the restaurant. We both ordered the award-winning chicken fried steak. It was great! The gravy has a different taste than what I’m used to, but it was still amazing. I absolutely recommend the chicken fried steak, and next time I will try something different.
I mentioned this restaurant to my parents, and they told me there was a food court in Houston, TX called Good Time Charlie’s in the 1970s. Not sure if there’s a connection?

A San Antonio tradition. We have been going for years and always enjoy. They have the best chili dog in town and I always spruce mine up with bacon. Outstanding. My wife had their chicken fried steak which is more than a meal, but wonderful.

We got steak fingers and an old fashioned hamburger. Everything was fantastic. Staff were all very friendly and service was super quick. Not kidding, our order came out within 5 minutes of ordering. Will definitely be back again.

My new go-to place for chicken fried steak. A little on the salty side, but the mashed potatoes made up for it. The steak was a little tough to chew, yet it didn't spoil the overall quality and experience of the meal.

Charlie's has the feel of a long standing local treasure. It's the sort of local place that stood the test of time somehow making it through COVID and we're all better for it.
Charlie's has character. It has spirit. It's the kind of place you'd imagine that inspired the bar in the long running TV show Cheers - where everybody knows your name.
It was my first time in the joint, but somehow it felt like I was going home. Maybe it was because they treated us like family. They sincerely cared about us and worked in earnest to ensure we were well served and satisfied - but without hassling us.
Some of the best service I have had in YEARS. Our food was out SURPRISINGLY fast, and it disappeared off our plates pretty quickly too 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

The steak was perfectly breaded and fried to a golden crisp, yet remained incredibly tender on the inside.What truly set this chicken fried steak apart was the creamy, peppery gravy that generously covered it. The flavors were well-balanced, providing just the right amount of kick without overpowering the taste of the steak itself.
The portion size was generous,the overall experience here was fantastic. The ambiance was cozy, the service was top-notch, and the chicken fried steak was the star of the show. If you're a fan of comfort food done right, I highly recommend giving it a try. It's a true taste of Southern goodness that left me craving for more.

This place is fast, friendly, and delicious. Chicken frid steak in 5 minutes. Be patient with getting a table if you arrive at meal rush. Everyone here works hard as hell!

We had the Chicken fried steak. Would Definitely Recommend it. It's a really good size w 2 sides. My youngest daughter had the fried fish...delicious and very juicy for a good size piece of fish

Visited the main staple of San Antonio after several years. They are locally owned, make everything in the restaurant, and have been around since the late 1970s.
I had the chicken fried steak, with mash potatoes and green beans smothered in white cream gravy. We had ice-cold beer to go with the meal. Our server was Kristen, and she was on top of things and gave us excellent service. I DEFINITELY would recommend this place to others.
Note, they are famous for their chicken fingers, mashed potatoes, and green beans covered in white cream gravy. This and an ice cold beer are heaven.

We visited this place as an early birthday lunch for my mom today. Let me say this place had good food, and we will definitely be back! We ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans, and it was so good! Although we had a 20-minute wait upon arriving, the food was definitely worth the wait. It was a total of four meals with one margarita totaling $85.

I had a great experience today! There was a wait which could mean one of two things- either terrible service or just so busy from so many people showing up, it was the second of course. I had a great waitress and she was great with my kids. Happy, happy experience!

Friends took me to this restaurant. Best way to describe it is a standard greasy spoon restaurant.. so you know its going to be DELICIOUS and might be worth the heart attack afterwards. The place always has a line no matter what time of the day you go but the line moves quickly. Worth checking out. Has a very mom and pop feel to it.
