Review Luna Rosa Puerto Rican Grill Y Tapas - San Antonio

Mr.Ruben Butler III
It was a good place to find. We had one dish we went looking for, we found it, ate it, was not impressed ( bias because while in Porta Rico we had REAL DEAL!!! I don't know, I can say that the rice was a little overcooked, and that was part of the problem. HOWEVER!!!!!!! we had ZERO problems with the remaining three dishes, full of flavor, cooked to our liking, thT dam sandwich was the Bomb 💣. The lunch special that's an enchilada, but not rolled, yup get that.. We will DEFINITELY return. Oh, our young lady that served us ( shame on me for forgetting her name ) she was to the max on customer service, we let that reflect in our tip, as well as acknowledging her in her presence. Oh yes, those drinks were not to be missed as well. Go eat her folks.

Luna Rosa finds its place in San Antonio with a great location! Our service got off to a slow start, but once Luis made contact he provided outstanding customer service my entire visit! The atmosphere is great & clean! The food was really good! We started off with the Caribbean Nachos with beef, they are phenomenal! I ordered the peril, white rice & black beans! The platting & presentation was impressive, see pictures below! The pernil was very good! The black beans needed more seasoning & to be cooked down more! Going to San Juan spoiled me with black beans, here there is room for improvement. In my opinion if you like Puerto Rican food, I think you will love Luna Rosa! If you looking for great Puerto Rican food, I highly recommend Luna Rosa! Enjoy!

This is the best Puerto Rican cuisine restaurant I’ve been in the Central/South of US. We were actually planning on going to some steak house by the River Walk. We end up stopping here because at a traffic light we saw the atmosphere from our truck. Once we got in, the restaurant wasn’t very packed. They had live dj going on, their servers were great with us. We ordered drinks and appetizers. They brought complementary Plantain Soup and it was great to start off. They brought our appetizers the Fried Cheese with Guaya sauce and Cuban Style Croquettes. Both were amazing. Their drinks are excellent and exotic, the Puerto Rican Mule and the Puerto Rican Old Fashioned hit the spot with their special touch of DonQ Añejo and DonQ Gold. The Mofongo with fried Pork and the Mofongo with Shrimps were so good I thought I was back in Puerto Rico eating at a restaurant. Buttom line this place is so good that I recommend it.

We came here for dinner today and it was delicious. My wife and brother had the ribeye and they said it was very good. I had the whole red snapper. If you know how to debone a fish I highly recommend it. It was amazing so were the fried plantains and the arroz con gandules.

Please try piñacolada Frozen and " manposteao" with any meat o your preference. This is the best version of Puertorican food in texas so far! Enjoy and cheers!

Food was pretty good, atmosphere is very similar to the old Rosario’s. Food seasoning was good and heavy. Wish there was live music more often though!

We were visiting and came across this gem and we are so glad we did. Food is great. Service was awesome! The plantain soup which is free is the bomb!!! Definitely will come back when we are back in San Antonio.

Super cool vibe downtown. Delicious tostones and bacon wrapped dates. The pork was a bit dry, but had great flavor. Mixed drinks are strong

If you love Puerto Rican food, this is the place to be. The food isn’t heavy like a lot of other places and on Friday and Saturday night they have a Dj. I recommend everyone to come and try it, the food is amazing!!!

Great food it took an hour for iur food, the food was good but there was some organizational issues with plates half the table got there food then 30, later the other half git theres. We enjoyed all the different plates. We paid 85 dollars for 2 plates and a couple drinks. But over all it was a decent experience.

Very nice Puerto Rican restaurant. Our server was nice and informative. She had great recommendations on food items. We started with plantains - delicious. I had their camarones al ajillo - absolutely spectacular. My husband had their grilled octopus special, and he said it was delicious. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed my lunch at this restaurant!!! My husband being from Puerto Rico he found the food to be very authentic, and nostalgic of home! I enjoyed myself very much and we will be back with the rest of our family very soon. Pernell is my favorite, and it was extremely delicious, perfectly seasoned. Beautiful restaurant great vibe and amazing food. Carlisle the red manager was so helpful and exhibited exceptional customer service! Can’t wait to return!

Magnificent Puerto Rican fare may be found here. This place is great. Parking a bit of a pain - but that's a vestige of being in a great area. Food & service were top notch!

I was visiting San Antonio for work and googled PR restaurant seen the good reviews. I ordered the yuca frita as appetizer (really good), I ordered a trifongo with churrasco steak (amazing). Waiter was really good as well.

Update 4/1/23: Significant growing pains at the new location. Reduced menu, reduced sizes, and higher prices on almost everything. We understood that the new location would require adjustments, but it seems that the management is making choices that are less strategic and more out of convenience. The bougie, hipster crowd will expect more for what they pay for, and previous regulars are painfully aware of what standards existed at the last location. Chewy seafood in the paella, really dry cubanito. Probably no longer an impromptu weekend lunch choice Positives: the food quality remained mostly excellent. Neutral: eating here takes time. Between server shortages, wait times, and relaxed food preparation time, coming here with time constraints just sets you up for disappointment Negatives: Sicker shock, our last visit was closer to $80 for almost the same food we got at $120; One of our favorite items, the plantains with sofrito dip, is no longer on the menu. The margaritas are $12 for half the amount. If you want to sit comfortably, ask for the purple seated chairs since the white ones are not great. ORIGINAL 5 star REVIEW: Always a treat. Delicious margaritas (guava w/chili is a favorite), plantain chips and the bacon wrapped dates are a must while you wait (and expect to wait since COVID has impacted their service times). All of the meals will impress, and the cubanito is perfect for a trepidatious kiddo unfamiliar with Puerto Rican food. Finish with the bread pudding if you have any room left (not likely, but one can hope!)

The food was absolutely delicious with many more options than I anticipated. The guavarita was on point and the great customer service put it over the top. Highly recommend and will be back.

If you are looking for an outstanding puertorrican food this is the place to go! My wife love her mofongo with carne vieja and I ate the mofongo with carne frita! And to complete the meal she has a flancocho and I have a flan de queso and it was delicious! I highly recommend this place!

Totally loved this place. Their Steak was so tender and juicy. We also ordered the Mofongo...very good too. Service was on point and so was the atmosphere.

My family and I have been to Luna Rosa about four times now and we keep coming back for more! We have been to many places in San Antonio that make burgers and Puerto Rican food, and Luna Rosa is by far the best in town. No where in town compares to what you get here. The service and venue are great. Our compliments to the chef! We will be looking forward to another great meal/evening there. -Madrigal/Hernandez Family

Guavaritas. Need I say more. I had a plate of chicken with chorizo, zucchini and black beans with green olives. Cleaned my plate.

My first time to Luna Rosa and Puerto Rican food. Our server Valerie was excellent. We had mango coconut wings and shredded pork. Plus drinks. The atmosphere was excellent and judging by the patrons, they are returning customers. Even the manager Manuel introduced himself to us. Everything here was excellent and we will be returning.

Loved the food, the service, the ambiance. What else could you ask for? My new favorite place, and a fabulous menu to work through. :)

It was a fun and festive atmosphere and the food was excellent. My kids loved it so it is a definite yes that we'll be returning. The owner was extremely friendly and chatted with us while we waited for our table.
