Had a wonderful meal at the County Line last night our server was very good and very personable. The food was delicious and dessert peach cobbler and bread pudding to die for. You won’t be disappointed.

I have been coming to San Antonio for many, many years (mostly for music conferences). I consider myself a BBQ connoisseur (I know, every Texan does). I’ve been to lots of BBQ restaurants in my life and I think County Line rates among the best. I love the family style all you can eat “Cadillac”. Very tender meats and great smoke flavor. Hearty sides and FABULOUS bread. Thank you for another great visit.

Go just for the deviled eggs!

They are the best deviled eggs I've ever had. while you are there order some BBQ. I personally like the smoked turkey and pinto beans. Live entertainment on summer weekends.

Great food and service, definitely will go again my next time in the city. BBQ was amazing and fell right off the bones. Recommend the Ribs or the Chicken.

I had the three meat combo with chicken, sausage, and brisket. The sides were beans and slaw. The chicken was smoky and moist, the brisket tender and smoky (with a nice smoke ring), but the sausage was amazing! I think the BBQ sauce was actually quite good, with just the right amount of heat. My only concern is that there were no beers on tap and basically only Shiner for local beers. Maybe I’m just a northwesterner looking for something I can’t find in Texas.

The brisket was delicious and had a savory sauce. The Cole slaw was good too. The beans are good with just a hint of heat. Just wish they had more of an alcohol selection.

Great sausage. Very good brisket. The pork ribs were dry and not very meaty. Otherwise a very good meal. Bread is very good. Sides are solid, although we were not crazy about the coleslaw.

This edition of Excited about Eating takes us to the great state of Texas and to The County Line in San Antonio. Located on the beautiful River Walk in downtown, this BBQ joint serves up all of your Texas BBQ favorites. With a huge outdoor seating area on the water and an old charm, eccentric interior, this place has something for everyone.

We took the family for dinner here last night and were not disappointed.
Once again, as with all of our experiences along the Riverwalk, service was uniformly excellent; friendly, prompt and professional. Also consistent with our other experiences here, all of the Riverwalk restaurants including The County Line are enjoyable to sit in and take in the area's ambiance.
The food was excellent - great BBQ - brisket, ribs, chicken and steak all with great flavor and large portions - you won't leave hungry.
If there was a nitpick for me, it was the lack of draft beer, which seems a staple with most of the local competition. County Line does have a good selection of local beer in bottles, but no draft sadly.
Price was again good value - around $160 for five of us, including bar and tip. I really enjoyed this place and it's excellent smokehouse food.

LOVE the BEEF RIBS. My husband and I love all the County Line restaurants we've been to except for the one on IH-10 around De Zavala (bad service).

In our humble opinion the best ones are in Austin, however, the Riverwalk one is also magical because of the location and, of course, those unique beef ribs. We also love the brisket, potato salad and the cole slaw, which is not sweet. We don't like most cole slaw because the dressing is way to sugary: not so at County Line.

Tourist Trap Barbeque. Perfect for the tourist trade, The Country Line boasts nice outdoor dining space, views of the Riverwalk and the most enthusiastic staff I have ever seen. However, the barbeque is pedestrian. Go for the drinks.

Very pleasant atmosphere being right on the riverwalk. Service was excellent. We had a reservation and were seated right away, and at an indoor table right by the windows looking on the riverwalk. Our wait staff was very pleasant, helpful in our menu selections, and attentive to our needs. I ordered the 2nd cut brisket platter, my wife had the lean brisket platter, and my daughter had the pork ribs, but of course we all shared. The 2nd brisket platter was excellent! The lean brisket was also very good, but a tad dry since it's lean of course. The 2nd cut is more flavorful, and much more tender and juicy. Easy solution, just order the 2nd cut platter over the lean. The pork ribs were also spot-on perfect. All the meats had excellent smoke flavor and could easily stand on their own without BBQ sauce, which to me, truly great BBQ shouldn't need sauce. While not needed, I did try the BBQ sauce and it was fantastic too. Just the right balance of sweet and tart, as (I think) a BBQ sauce should be. For sides, we had coleslaw, potato salad, and Mac & cheese. The Mac & cheese was okay, but a little flat in taste. The coleslaw and potato salad overall had great flavor, but as other reviewers have said, a bit too heavily salted. I found the simple solution: just ask for a side of mayonnaise to mix in and then they're perfect. Finally, my wife and daughter had the banana pudding for dessert. I didn't try it but they said it was some of the best they've had. I highly recommend The County Line. Just get the 2nd cut, over the lean brisket if you can, and ask for a side of mayo with the coleslaw and potato salad. I thought the prices were reasonable for what we were getting. I only wish I had found this place sooner. I will definitely go back again, and again, and again!

Came here while visiting the Riverwalk, having arrived there and deciding on it after looking around along the river. Got the Meat Plate for 2 with collard greens (vegetable of the day) and potato salad. Meat and sides all were good; I liked the ribs best and my wife liked the turkey best. Good "country" kind of barbeque. Atmosphere was fun and pleasant. They have some outdoor seating, which would have been nice if it hadn't been so hot.

One of the better places to get barbecue on the river walk. The 2nd cut brisket was plenty tender and just enough smokey. If you’re looking for that smoke ring taste, the lean brisket was just right. The bread had a great honey spread with it. Drinks aren’t too expensive and the collard greens really surprised me. Overall, this is a go-to when I’m craving BBQ on the river. You can’t beat their prices either!

8/26 past 8pm. It was three meats to go order. The attendant (female) who took my order over the phone was very courteous and accommodating. The bartender who assisted me is also nice and food came right on time. The food was ok. Mc and cheese is little overcooked however it was kinda late and assuming kitchen is getting prepared to close which is understandable. The collard greens are delicious for what it is. Sausage is juicy and tender. Ribs are tender. I think that the vinegar on their bbq sauce is overpowering the flavor. Little disappointed with brisket its little dry and not much flavor but again it’s kinda late and not a lot of places are still serving what they have on the menu this night. The bread and butter are also tasting good. The box is not tidy for how much their charging for $32 for the plate including tax (no beverage) and consider where they are located, I can understand if it’s little finger print here and there or few sauce that’s missed to wipe but the outside box aren’t clean at all and cups from side dishes and pink not sure what part of the food has pink and all sorts of color some aren’t in the picture. But overall I’m happy that they’re open since I was starving and staff are still energized on Saturday and riverwalk was busy this day. I was greeted and acknowledged when I walked in the restaurant.

I had the Lean Cut Brisket which was nicely sliced. It was tender and smokey. The barbecue sauce was neither too sweet, nor too tangy. Very well balanced. The Cole Slaw was a tad too salty and the Potato Salad was too sour from the pickle relish. The bread came out warm and soft, but was too dry. I drank the Meltdown Rita Grande which was ok. It didn't have much of a lime flavor. The service was quick and the waiter was attentive.

There is a lot to choose from on the Riverwalk, and there's certainly a number of BBQ places. That being said, you won't go wrong here. The food was very good and the service was excellent, especially considering it was a Saturday night. I had the smoked pepper turkey which was moist and delicious. BBQ sauce is sweet with a slight kick. Mac and Cheese side was decent but not great. Fries were good. Their Smoked Bourbon Old Fashioned sounded good, but they were out. So, I went with the Moscow Mule with Buffalo Trace and it did not disappoint. Make sure to get some of the fresh bread with your meal.

I wasn’t sure what to expect as I’ve had a lot of disappointment recently with various barbecue restaurants between San Antonio Fort Worth. Today was not one of those occasions. I came for BBQ and got what expected. The prices were reasonable and the taste was in point. The meat actually tasted and looked like it had been smoked. Everything was delicious. I had the three meat platter with Ribs, which there is a up charge for, brisket and chicken 1/4. I chose macaroni and cheese and potato salad for my sides. My only complaint, and I’m not calling this a complaint, was that the potato salad was a tad bit on the salty side. That’s just me, I have a really low sodium tolerance so like I said, not really a complaint. The staff was friendly. You deserve your five stars based on taste, quality and price. Thank k you for being in a very touristy are and not killing folk with exorbitantly high prices. Jay

Service was great. The food is good but you may find better. The brisket and turkey were a little bit dry. Ribs and chicken were good. We had the 5 meat plate for 2 and it was plenty of food. My son got a brisket sandwich and was huge.

The bbq is pretty decent for a tourist spot. They give you too much food that you want to complain but should not 🤣. I would definitely try the bread on the appetizer menu comes out fresh made in the kitchen with honey butter. It goes great with your bbq plate. The sausage, ribs and brisket were all good. The collards and mac and cheese are thumbs up. The mac and cheese is soupy but not watered down at all. Also try the banana pudding it is some of the best I've had.
