Review Rosario's Comidamex & Bar - San Antonio

I thought this place was very okay. You're really paying for a good Instagram photo up on the roof with your drink and the location. Speaking of, be prepared to do a few laps around the block looking for parking, especially in the evening time. In their defense, unlike a lot of restaurants in the area, they actually have a parking lot, but good luck getting one. Our waiter was really nice. My Chipotle chicken was alright too. Overall, I have nothing negative to say, but nothing overwhelmingly positive either.

We went here the 1st day of our anniversary trip and we're pleasantly surprised as we just stopped in. The service was impeccable (thank you Ben G). The food..WOW! The salsa was perfect! The Chicken Chipotle was beautiful but amazing!!! We also had the chicken enchiladas which were great and so flavorful. I had a House sangria margarita and it was perfect and not overloaded with sweet and sour like most in town. We walked from our hotel but because parking is hard anywhere downtown but it was well worth the not even 10min walk. We will definitely be back!

My wife and I had a very nice dining experience at Rosario’s. The margaritas were exceptional and the guacamole was excellent. Our dinners were very good as well. But, there was a rushed feeling as food was delivered before drinks were done. Also, our main course was brought to the table before our appetizers were finished. That’s why I rated it 4 and not 5 stars.

You won’t be disappointed with the food. Parking may be tough in this area but there is a parking lot up and to the right of the restaurant’s main entrance. About $9 for two hours and $13 for four. This newer location is a lot bigger than the previous one, and tables are actually reasonably far apart you don’t feel like you’re on top of other people. It’s still difficult to carry on conversations due to the open seating layout. Service was great food came out quickly on a Thursday night. We didn’t wait at all for a table for four. Most importantly, the food was delicious. And you can’t go wrong with $1.99 chips and housemade salsa. All four of us were happy with our meals. Definitely recommended.

Overall ok restaurant/experience. It appears to have a lot of bells and whistles and some cute decor, but it lacks the charm of the original location. The chips for me weren’t the best I’ve had nor was the chipotle chicken, but overall ok. Parking is horrible. Probably best to take people that are from out of town that want a bit of that San Antonio feel.

Crystal was our server and she was amazing from the start of introduction. She educated us on the history of Rosarios and told us how great this place was, told us about the hours and even elaborated on what the restaurant has to offer shebhas A+ customer service skills !! She deserved a promotion she truly loves her job!! Maria Tober, Realtor and owner of 1 Solution Apartment Locators

Wife and I went to Rosario’s for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. It was our first time there since they moved to this location. We loved the previous location so we looked forward to this visit. They did not disappoint. The food and drinks were awesome! We started off with top shelf margaritas. Then, we both had the fish tacos. We finished the night off with their Mexican Chocolate Flan. Everything was perfect! The service was exactly what you would expect. Fernando was very attentive and helpful with our questions. After our meal we went up to the rooftop terrace and bar. We had to take some pictures so we could post them here. We highly recommend Rosario’s. It remains our favorite restaurant in San Antonio!

If you are looking for great tasting Mexican Food in San Antonio. This place has a great atmosphere and great service! They have an extensive drink menu with lots of traditional drink options. Start your meal with chips and salsa, add the queso for a perfect appetizer. Their portions are on the larger size. Everything was delicious. Finish with dessert, highly recommend the Arroz con Leche, definitely brought me back to my childhood!

We came around 9:30 pm on a Saturday and were seated immediately. The waiter, Sal, was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was delicious; we ordered the bean and cheese nachos to share, perfectly portioned and tasty. The drinks are flavorful and fresh. We ordered the Enchiladas de Mole, Chile Relleño, and the Camarones al Mojo de Ajo. Every dish was hot and excellently prepared; food was fresh, well seasoned and well portioned.

I had an excellent celebratory lunch at this restaurant! The customer service was fantastic, and there was ample seating available. The environment was very welcoming, and the restaurant is suitable for larger parties. The prices for the food were very reasonable. The pozole was absolutely delicious, and some of the best I have ever had. The beef fajitas were tender, well-seasoned, and tasty. Overall, it was an amazing experience, and the food was authentic and fantastic!

Sangrias at happy hour shouldn’t be missed!!

Very good food and exceptional drinks! All their drinks are well made and really huge, especially the margaritas. Atmosphere is always inviting and energetic staff is always really quick to attend to your needs. The food never disappoints and they have some entrees you don’t find in most restaurants so worth trying. Friendly happy staff every time I’ve been here. Music and ambiance is excellent!

Being a lover of Mexican food and while in town on business, hotel mentioned Rosario's as a must do and we were not disappointed.

A short trek from the convention center area of town (fun to scooter over), very open dining room with old time chairs and tables.

The chips and salsa were great starts with blended margaritas alongside. Had the shrimp nachos to start things off and they were amazing. Entree Pola Maria was fantastic, as well as the flautes.

Service was excellent which complimented the outstanding food and beverages. The salsa was so good the server packed a to-go container with chips for our hotel room.

Highly recommend!

This is a good spot to enjoy some real Tex Mex food. The service was fast and friendly and the food was very good. Different than the run of the mill Tex Mex as you could taste the difference.

We dined here on a Monday evening around 7 and had to wait for about 15 minutes for a table but just enough time to enjoy a beer at the bar so no hardship.

Overall it was a very nice experience!
Lindsey
The food was incredible, though I wasn’t a huge fan of the fire roasted salsa. My only complaint was that it was very dim lit. We were seated back in a corner by the restrooms and our table was the only one without a lit candle, so it was a little too dark for my liking.

Wonderful casual Mexican food. Big windows look out onto the colourful neighbourhood. SUPER FAST and personal service- I asked our waiter to recommend a not-so-sweet margarita- he brought out a delicious one. Highly recommend :)

Rosario's is not on the Riverwalk, but it IS absolutely crawling with locals, which is just one of the attributes recommending it for your visit. Another? This totally baller posole soup, which is a chile-laced, lip smacking bowl of pork, hominy, and gentle heat that you enrich yourself with a small plate of fixings like fresh chiles, lime wedges, and diced radishes. It was rich, bright, full flavored and absolutely a taste of Mexico you don't find at your run-of-the-mill Tex-Mex spot.

Because I never know when enough is enough, I also demolished the pulled chicken puffy tacos, which are nestled in fresh flour tortillas that are deep fried so they puff up into crispy pillows for a mound of savory, juicy shredded chicken meat bathed in a tomato and chile sauce, with shredded cheese and a shower of lettuce. Refried beans, served on the side, were 100% made with lard and you know what? Praise the pig for that, because they were creamy and earthy and just slightly sweet - the ideal of what beans aspire to be. Roasario's earns a solid eight on my BHS scale.

Not super special, but solid Mexican food. I got three enchiladas a la carte and the poblano pepper. All were very good with some depth of flavor. The crepes for dessert were the only disappointment - too thick, not much flavor; ate the ice cream and left the rest. Next time will try a flan.

Overall an acceptable option.

* GREAT FOOD * POOR SERVICE * DO YOU FEEL LUCKY ?????????? SERVICE IS ONE THING I LOOK FOR WHEN SPENDING MY MONEY. YOU WONT FIND ANYTHING CLOSE TO ACCEPTABLE SERVICE HERE TRY ELSEWARE

Great authentic food! You can tell that this place is a local favorite ... It is packed on a Monday night! Great food, fast service, good prices ... A must stop when in San Antonio!

After seeing all the Mexican restaurants in San Antonio I felt that I needed to make sure I chose the right place. Rosario's was recommended to us while at a bar so we thought we would check it out. Wow, what an amazing meal! The flavours were spot on and food was served quickly despite the restaurant being quite busy. Definitely recommend the sizzling plate! Yum!

Good service , Food is amazing ...The Menu is totally Different ..Maxician Cafe catina is placed on very peaceful location ..i love it
Carissa
I had shrimp fajitas and they were really flavorful and the shrimp was cooked well (there's nothing worse than rubbery seafood on a taco). The tortillas were homemade and melted in my mouth. Those flour tortillas MADE my meal. My only complaint was they put tons of shredded lettuce under our gauc so it was hard to scoop and the portion looked better than it really was. The prickly pear margarita was on point!
Public B
One of the few places in country that serves chocolate flan. Menu is TexMex, enjoyed the chile relleno and enchiladas with guacamole on the side. Love the smokey salsa that has a mild bite.
Cynthia Sirk-fear
Delicious food! Had the fish tacos. The Margaritas are great and I recommend the Ceviche!! The music on Fridays is awesome. Great service from Orlando:)

My wife had a surprise birthday party for me while we were in town to visit family. They sat us in the back room which was a little loud but manageable. Chips and salsa were very good. Ordered the cheese enchiladas and would rate them above average. The Mole chicken my wife ordered was excellent. Price is very reasonable. Parking down here is an issue so be prepared to drive around looking for on street parking.
Geovanny Ragsdale
The service was good. Their home made roasted salsa and tortillas are worth a visit. I ordered their pollo Maria made with a pumpkin seed and cilantro pesto that was delicious. My hubby got their puffy tacos and we were a bit disappointed. The taco got soggy way too fast. Their beans we the best part of his plate.

Loud. Bad acoustics amplify the sound of screaming kids. Sad that this is the most memorable aspect of Rosario's, but its REALY loud in there. As far as the food, there are some unique creations, but inconsistant quality and flavor on multiple visits make it a hit-and-miss experience. Tourists keep them busy, but natives know of much better flavor/value within walking distance of their location. On busy evenings expect a long wait for a table, then wait for service, then wait for food. Inability to converse with dinner guests without shouting makes for an unpleasant 2 hour meal.
Lovetolikeu13
Ugh it's Fiesta in SA. We love Rosarios! Never had a bad experience, but thought it would be awesome if the place stayed open, maybe 1 extra hour pass closing, it's Fiesta week!! Our other alternative was the market square! It's NOT Rosarios!!
Jmassi1281
Not worth the effort.. Service was mediocre. The waiter (Jesus) was not quick with drinks or refills.

The food didn't taste worth the price and I was still very hungry afterwards. The drinks were delicious but entirely too expensive. I would recommend this to anyone.

Just good food and great service. Loved soup Azteca
All food is fresh and well prepared
Attentive waiting staff
I did loved it

Long wait but well worth it. This place is fantastic. On a Friday night, the wait for a table for 2 was about an hour, but I'd never been to Rosario's before and I was willing to wait it out given all the high praise the place gets. In the meantime, I walked over to the Tower of Americas and back and arrived back at the restaurant just in time to claim my table. I ordered the Pollo a la Maria and I've never had anything like it. Marinated and cooked to perfection and had sort of an Indian flavor to it. We also ordered ceviche, chorizo quesadilla, and albondigas (meatballs) for appetizers. I didn't care much for the albondigas but the ceviche and quesadilla were really good. My meal was supposed to come with tortillas and the waiter did indeed bring out a container for them, but it was empty. It was pretty funny actually, so we laughed it off and didn't bring it up with the waiter. We weren't hungry enough to eat more than one anyway. Otherwise the service was great and the atmosphere was very nice. Maybe a touch too loud. There was a live band playing but they weren't cranked up to 11 at least. I highly recommend Rosario's if your evening isn't on a tight schedule.

Very Well Done.. We have dined at Rosario's North and South, and the food has always pleased. From salsas to dinners, everything is fresh and well balanced. The Enchiladas en Mole are excellent - their version of a mole sauce is very good. A couple of my other favorites are Lengua, Tacos, and the Enchiladas Suisa.
I highly recommend this place, and was quite puzzled by a couple of reviews that disn't like it One of the comments were" I didn't complain. I always think they'll spit in my food or something if I send it back." This person should not go out if he's that afraid. Ridiculous assumption to make about any place, especially a place of this caliber. The other one that doesn't like it was quite amusing - I have never seen a review where the place was not judged by the food, but by the ambient noise level. This reviewer judged the place by the reading of his decibel meter. True, Rosario's s not the quietest place, but if you judge it by the quality of the food, that is what matters the most - and they are quite good.

If you're looking for a traditional Chile' Relleno, this is not your best selection. But if you're looking for a really good stuffed pepper, it ranks very high on my list. The spicy roasted peppers salsa is unforgettable and tremendous. I would return just for the salsa. My beautiful wife had the chicken and spinach enchilada. I thought they were quite good, but she scored them off the charts. If I were local, I would be a regular.
Lori
I would recommend this restaurant.
Pro: Margarita, Enchiladas Mexicanas, the service
Con: Very Loud

The Enchiladas Mexicanas has a cabbage lime slaw that sounds odd but was PERFECT with the enchiladas.
I asked the server for recommendations and he walked thru the menu and even brought a taste of the pork(which was very good.

Awesome incredible food!. Definitely definitely eat here! fresh, tasty, perfect food. I don't even like Mexican food but came for my husband - and I made him come back! I hate beans - I not only ate all the beans but asked for the recipe! I don't know what the bean pesto dip sauce is - but I think we ate the entire refill bottle on the table also. ps-they sell it!:) I can't recommend this place enough. my favorite by far was the chicken and shrimp fajitas and margarita on the rocks.

Love the Fish Tacos. Tasty and light---yet filling. Love the combination of slaw and sauce used in with the grilled flavor of the fish.

This account is of our second visit to this location. Saw the MySA review of the shrimp nachos and decided to give them another chance. (That's all we intended to and did order). Nachos were without flair, but the biggest problem which we had forgotten, is the extremely noisy ambience. An average Thursday night at 7:30 I recorded a peak decibel rating of 96db. This noise level is equal to a 70 mph subway!! This is caused by the angular architecture, wood flooring, metal seating and lots of windows. Unfortunately the food is not capable of drowning this problem out.

Best Mexican food in San Antonio. Fajitas are always on point; best Michelada I've ever had.

Visited San Antonio and I can't believe we've never been here! Interesting and delicious smokey salsa. The Mole sauce is heavily. The staff was amazing! Can't wait to return

This one needs work. It's a small chain of restaurants opened by a lady whose last name is Wong. Supposedly famous around these parts. I wanted to like it. The decor was fresh. However, we've had much better Mexican / Tex-Mex and drink service was slow. The salsa was interesting and somewhat tasty. I got the Chile Relleno. Ordered the Quinoa version, but our waiter either put it in wrong or didn't hear to begin with. I didn't complain. I always think they'll spit in my food or something if I send it back. The Chile Relleno batter was super greasy. I mostly tasted the grease until I peeled that away. The meat was seasoned well. The appetizer came out 1 minute before the meals. I don't know how this is possible, but the cheese actually tasted a little gritty. Like corn starch or gravy that didn't get stirred well. I wouldn't go back myself, but overall I suppose it wasn't that bad. Obviously our experience didn't match what others have had. Maybe you'll have better luck.
Melody Coons
We got horrible service. Our waiter took everyone's order that were seated after us before ours. Our appetizer came out seconds before the meal and was cold. The food quality was ok at best. I thought San Antonio would have better Mexican fare but this was just mediocre and the service just made it an even worse experience.

I first dined here years ago and decided to see how things have progressed. I would classify this New Tex-Mex Cuisine. Emphasis is on healthy and fresh ingredients. Menu items highlight vegetarian and gluten free choices. All signs were positive for a great meal. Execution in cooking, however, is everything. I had the rib eye and it seems that beef is not their strong suit. Rib eye, when true ribeye and not the chuck alternative is usually flavorful and tender. Not this ribeye. The rub and marinade were good and obvious but they could not mask an inferior cut and grade of beef. This fault alone, since it is the main course, puts Rosario's in negative territory. The side enchilada, however, was great and probably indicative to stay away from the meat dishes. All sides, as a matter of fact, were outstanding. So a near miss. On my initial visit I would put Rosario's at 5 stars. This time that are 2 out of 5. Too bad.
Culinary Crusaders
Heartattack!. This would be such a great restaurant if they wouldn't use LARD in their cooking. My family and I would be regulars.

Bad Rice. First time going. Heard the place was good. Very disappointed in the rice that came with my meal. It was barely warm and the rice was very crunchy. Seemed like it was put on the plate with the rest of the food and heated in the oven. Not good. May try another location one more time. Hopefully will be better as I want to like the place.
Ken White
Called first, they said they have tables. We get there, it's a 20 minute wait.
Crystal
LOVE the Salsa! Fresh! Music was great! Food was wonderful! Service was great, just be prepared to wait. Sit down have a drink in the bar area. About 10 min walk from River walk but worth it. From river walk follow St Mary's till intersection of S. Alamo.

Really great place to eat. We came in close to closing and out waiter (JACOB CASTILLO) was very courteous and wasn't trying to rush us. The food was really great. Enchiladas, nachos, fajitas we're had at our table and every person LOVED the food.

Great place!
Dave
Burnt Mess. Enchiladas Mexicanas - queso fresco enchiladas with guajillo pepper sauce; fried potatoes and grilled jalepeno on the side. - This is what I had. Served perfectly burnt. The sauce on the plate was charred black and the enchiladas were not far behind the sauce.

Everyone burns something occasionally but you don't serve it. I still cannot believe they brought it out of the kitchen
Food For Thought...
Outstanding Tex-Mex. Lunch specials are quite reasonably priced. Platters are very tasty. Beef fajita has a very unique flavor. Wait staff is courteous and efficient. The only down side is the lack of parking. Be prepared to park on a neighborhood side street. There are a lot of "Do Not Park Here" signs in the are. The police patrol on bikes. You will get ticketed or towed if caught. Otherwise, if you don't mind the exercise, it's a great choice. Enjoy!
Wendymac
The salsa wasn't typical- more like a smoky pepper/ tomato flavor rather than fresh tomato, but good. The enchiladas verdes and fish tacos were great!
R. Rayzor
The food was just OK. I expected better based on the other reviews. Lots of tourists and the associated busses.
Sonya M.
GREAT FOOD & ATMOSPHERE. Rosario's is the restaurant where I take my visiting friends and family. It's a great representation of Southern Mexican cooking with elevated flavors. The mushroom and spinach enchiladas are my favorite, but everything on the menu is absolutely delicious. The drinks are also great! Try any of the margaritas, but be careful because they pack a punch :)
Erik
Come in and try the salsa that comes with just stirring down and be amazed. Move on to the side salad for an entree and be blown away. Get to dinner and pass out.

SO GOOD!
Vic
Ok for comercialized TexMex,not to be confused with the few places that serve authentic Mexican Food. Rosarios is ok,Mi Tierra yuck, try Taco Haven a couple of blocks away for delicious texmex. Go where the locals go holds true here.
John Colucci
Fish Tacos. Fish tacos are probably the best choice on the menu, they are Fantastic, full of flavor, fresh and healthy. I had the chicken/shrimp fajitas but they were dry...Margaritas are good and the wait on Friday around 7pm seems to be around 20 minutes every time.
Philip
Mexican food at its best. Also you have to try the chocolate flan with vanilla ice cream and small pieces of almonds. Too die for

-----24 Aug, 2013-----

Off the river walk. Was our first time to this restaurant and it had amazing food and service was fast and the waitress was very attentive. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves true tex mex. if your staying at any of the hotels near the river walk, it's not far at all bout a half mile and its worth the walk.
Kristin
Yum. This place is super good. Shredded chicken nachos. Cheese enchilada. Torts. And cucumber jap marg. will return soon. Go try it.
Lana
Love, love, love this resturant . They have the BEST non fishy tasting ceviche . Has plenty of lime marinate but not over bearing. I usually get a blue margarita or michelada but I tried their new jalapeño cucumber margarita that is served on the rocks. And it was amazing. Chile rimmed with cucumber juice, spicy jalapeño twist and tequila . Mouth watering thinking about it. We waited 1 hour for our table which usually on a Saturday night is usual . But with a drink in hand and the live jazz or whatever band that's playing that night , you don't mind the wait. It's dimmed with colorful candle glasses on each table makes for a nice ambiance. Our ceviche was perfect as always, and the enchiladas suizas are excellent. Stuffed with yummy chicken and topped with creamy sweet white wine sauce. Service, food, drinks and atmosphere are all great. Reasonable prices with great quality food. I suggest going for any occasion .

Nice spot away from Riverwalk. Here on vacation. Very good chile relleno. Salsa tastes fire roasted and fresh. Good drinks. I went with a man bucket item and tried tripe; it is what it is. Overall good experience, I'll be back next time I'm in the area.
TR
In San Antonio for a week... First post on urbanspoon. This place is worth writing about. The fish tacos are incredible. Don't skip the slaw on these... I sat at the bar two nights... Dining alone. Great service... The best Chili Releno I've ever had... Shrimp and fish stuffed. If loud places annoy you then maybe come for lunch. I'm here during the NBA Finals.... Go Spurs Go.

Food was good service was ok yes it is very noisy. Atmosphere is neati will still go back

Wow!!! The best Mexican ever!! Both food and service were excellent. Loved it!!

Huge, fun and busy. Great food. Salsa is awesome! Chips could have been more warm when at the table.

The spinach enchiladas were amazing and the top shelf margarita was top notch!

They are a massive restaurant but busy all the time so time your visit right.
Snooks Snax
Underwhelmed. First visit was during a dinner rush. They seemed understaffed.
Runny salsa needed salt. It was my first taste of lengua (cow tongue) which was remarkably tender. Unfortunately, portions were meager for price all around the table and we left unsatisfied. Many more economical alternatives in surrounding area. (Not the riverwalk!)
LJ
I've heard about this place for a long time & finally made it. It's nothing fancy but the food rates. They always have a unique margarita, today it was cucumber jalapeño that was totally awesome. Our main dishes were so flavorful with a unique blend of chiles: Pescado Veracruz & Enchiladas Mexicana. We will come here again on our next visit.

Great Food. I always have trouble not filling up on the chips and salsa before dinner. Grilled shrimp and ceviche...awesome. Love Rosario's
Rob
Looking for quality food. My wife and I wanted a nice place to eat that wasn't going to bust our wallet. We found it and then some at Rosario's. The food is absolutely amazing (I highly recommend the ceviche) and the staff were professional and friendly. Add to that reasonable prices and we have a new favorite restaurant in San Antonio

Best Meal of our visit.......... A buddy of mine and me went to check this place out from a recommendation:
we were not disappointed. great chips and salsa to start out;
we both had the ceviche-good portion of fish and the mixture of lime juice, cilantro, and red sliced onions were perfect. I would like to see some jalapenos in there for just a little added heat.
had the lengua and it was so tender and flavorful-by far the best I have had.
a cold dos equis to wash it all down.....perfect lunch.
if possible-sit at the bar, if avail, for faster service instead of a table if you are on a time crunch like we were. It all worked out.
Jennifer
Absolutely Fabulous!. Absolutely the best Mexican food I've ever had and that is saying a lot considering I lived in El Paso for 3 years. We were on vacation, found Rosario's on urbanspoon and tried it out. We loved it so much we returned the next night! Taking the advice of other reviews we went early and did not have to wait. By the time we left the entire place was packed. The food is outstanding - get the chicken chipotle enchiladas. Not on the menu, but recommended by our server, Abraham. He is hands down one of the best waiters we've ever had. Totally accommodating, friendly, and gave us great recommendations. If you like margaritas, the prickly pear margarita is a must. You might as well just order the big one and save yourself the time of having to order a second. The food came out fast too. I'm bummed our vacation is over because we will miss this place!

Food is EXCELLENT. Got the chile rellano de pescado and enchiladas de espinacas. Absolutely fantastic. An added bonus is that the waitstaff is gorgeous! Would recommend to anyone visiting San Antonio!
KenV
Great Tex Mex. Loved this place. Off the beaten path of riverwalk this place was a pleasant surprise. My fajita beef Griselda's tacos had it all from savory meat to crispy fried corn tortilla shell right down to acidity with the lime cole slaw. Avacado and queso fresco rounded these babies out with a nice creamy texture added in. The perfect taco. The pork tip parillas thast my wife had were also terrific with their tender pork tips deep fried to a crispy outside letting the inside stay moist and tender. Salsa not your usual but a peppery dark salsa with a nice kick to it.
Brian
Freeze, put down the tortilla! I was excited to try Rosario's but left disappointed. Wait staff were gracious but the food - come on - this is not Mexican food, but some watered down attempt. Great Mexican food is hard to achieve and very time consuming. This food felt like a quickie and a smoke.

Best Mole Chicken Enchiladas. Can't find decent mole anything in Austin. These mole enchiladas were excellent.
Fellow Texan
More Authentic Mexican Food. My family and I were visiting San Antonio and were recommended Rosario's. The parking lot is very small and there is very limited parking on the street. The service was great. The hot sauce was very different and none of our group liked it. The spinach and mushroom enchiladas were the best thing we had. They were GREAT!! The seafood rellano was fair. The regular relleno was pretty good, but it had raisins in it. (My mom loved it, but I'm not a fan of raisins in my food.) My husband ordered some chicken enchiladas and the sauce was very sweet. If you like unique Mexican food this might be your choice, but if you don't then you might want to choose a different restaurant.
Melissa
As a Texan, I'm picky about Mexican and Tex-Mex food. This place was different - in a good way. The flavored were unique and smokey. Queso flameado with chorizo and shrimp/chicken fajitas were our choices. We enjoyed both. The salsa is a smoked version that took some getting used to, but I soon found myself putting it on everything. Also, the margaritas were great! Try to coconut margarita.
Drew
I picked up some take-away to have lunch with a friend who works nearby and I'm glad I did. I ordered chicken nachos with queso blanco and crema, pozole, ceviche, chicken mole, and enchiladas. Everything was amazing. The pazole was the best I've had.

Worst food I have eaten in San Antonio.....I was excited to try this place especially w so many likes but I think this kind of food u can make at home an cost u alot less......don't go to this place

Always Good. First time I went here was 10 years ago and it still is one of THE best Mexican restaurants around. Everything from the food, service and atmosphere is spot on. When you look around there is a good mixture of locals and tourist. A great place to visit for excellent food and drinks...NEVER disappointing.Try the Mexican Handshake and Amaretto Margaritas!! AWESOME

Food Was good but was not blown away. For how busy it was I was expecting wonderful food. The food was tasty but some dishes were left somewhat uneaten. I had the chicken enchiladas and found them ok. Not impressed but ok. The tortilla soup was very good. My girlfriend got an appetizer of cheese chorizo and mushrooms and it was really just a bunch of grease and salt. One other couple loved their dish the other was indifferent. Would try other places if I was back in San Antonio

Ring Around Rosario's. I think I liked this place better when the location was Patty's Pescaderia. A neat hole-in-the-wall eatery that served Mexican style seafood. Besides the delicious dishes of huachinango, pargo, ceviche, campechana, etc., they had complimentary fruit (bananas, apples, oranges) for dessert that was left on the small shelves attached to the main pillars of the structure in the center of the restaurant. And everyone knew, without direction, to take a piece as they left.

Get something free now - not at Roasario's. The Tex-Mex is good, but the prices are premium in relative comparison to other like kind restaurants in San Antonio. Also, the parking is atrocious for lunch. I attempted to go for lunch again recently and was left circling the neighborhood for a parking space for 15 minutes like a hungry buzzard. I finally gave up and went elsewhere.

Despite my gripes, you may still find me here on occasion, but only when my wallet and my patience are fully replenished.

GREAT FOR OUT OF TOWNERS. Whenever we have corproate guests, this is the go to spot. The mexican food isn't typical and the menu has something for everyone!! I am working my way through the menu and haven't had anything that I dislike. The menu has something for everyone and the prices are reasonable. I love the atomsphere and the crowd this place attracts. It is very trendy with great food.

Pazole - incredible Queso f.... Pazole - incredible
Queso flameado - greasy but in a good way
Salsa - smoked = YUM
Homemade tortillas - oh yeah!
I come from Houston so I know good Mexican food and this is awesome.
We haven't even had our main course but our waiter hasn't steered us wrong yet.

The BEST Mexian Restaurant in San Antonio!. After having a disappointing dining experience at Rio Rio on San Antonio's River Walk earlier in the day, I decided to do some research before going after it again. Review after review took me to an independently run authentic Mexican Cantina called Rosario's, which is located about 1 mile south of the downtown San Antonio River Walk loop. I have nothing negative to say about this place. The dining room was filled with primarily locals and Mexican families, so I knew that I found the right place for authentic Mexican cuisine.

The margaritas are hand made and not pre-mixed, which is a big plus. The chips were crisp and the salsa was "to die for" good. If you are a fan of mole, Rosario's serves up some of the best I've ever had. Not only was the entire service staff extremely nice, they were very efficient and worked together as a team to keep things running smoothly. Moreover, this is a very clean restaurant. Everything from tables and fixtures to overhead lights and air vents were immaculately clean. I strongly advise anyone looking for real deal Mexican cuisine to check out this place. I will be back!

Amazing food. Amazing staff. Great drinks. A must stop location if your visiting San Antonio.

We love this place! We ate here twice. Their salsa is amazing- suspiciously as amazing as the salsa at Acenar on the Riverwalk. Food is good. Service is great and the atmosphere is fun. They make a great coconut margarita.

Great find!. Wonderful, traditional Mexican food. Got a tip from our hotel front desk to try it out. The roasted salsa was so good, I could have drank it. Fajitas were very good and the refried beans were surprisingly flavorful. Had a delicious special chef's appetizer of corn tortilla bites with refried beans, queso fresco and cilantro.

Also tried a prickly pear margarita = yum!

Really good Mexican food! Great enchiladas, very fresh tasting.

Homemade Salsa. I ate here twice. I remember that both meals were great, but the thing I remember most was the home made Chipotle Salsa. It was incredible and I couldn't stop eating it. We don't have anything like that in Nashville. Although a little more tex mex than authentic, it was still worth two visits. I would strongly suggest giving Rosario's a try.

Good lunch. Good service, and good food. I didn't like the fish tacos but everything else was excellent and a good value!

Classy Mexican cuisine. This place is a nice half mile stroll from the Riverwalk. It seats 200+ people but in separate rooms. The decor is understated but comfortable and interesting. The service crew is art in action. They bus, wait, and serve with grace and speed. Everyone in my party thought their food was 1st class. Be sure and try the cabbage lime slaw. I went minimalist and had the grilled fish tacos; they were excellent. You will leave full and happy. Margarita sippers will be in for a treat.

Order and Appetizer. This past Saturday night I went to Rosario's with four other friends. We sat in the dining area without much of a wait at 6 PM. Loved their salsa. Service was attentive and helpful with questions on the menu. Tried the Ceviche, which was a new dish for me. It tasted fresh. I didn't drink, but the rest of the table loved their Sangrias. One one low point of the meal was that ordering the fish chalupas meant that I got exactly two chalupas on a plate with nothing else on it. Same for everything else my friends ordered, so it's a la carte, not a plate, so to speak. Had I realized this I might have ordered an appetizer so that I wasn't so tempted to stop off on the way home for a snack! The decor was a high point. Interesting original artwork and very colorful interior. Parking can be a problem.

One word. Lengua.

Good Tlalpeño Soup. The soups were great, the guacamole and the Margarita were OK. I odered tacos de carnitas and the meat pieces in the pork were too big for my liking but the soups were great also the guacamoles.
Tefas
Good salsa..

I went to this restaurant with a friend of mine last night, and the food was amazing. The waiter didn't hover, but he didn't abandon us either. And they text you when your table is ready! Very cool and up to date. The atmosphere was very chill and cool, with live music and ambient lighting. Definitely gonna go back.

Glad to happen upon it. Weren't even thinking about waiting over an hour at Mi Tierra (on a Tuesday night) so we were recommended here instead and were thrilled. Although the host/bar situation isn't managed very well the place is nice and loud and authentic and fun. We loved it....once we got sat down

Excellent Food. If you want to impress anyone with great Mexican food, this is the place! The food has always been served fresh, no matter what day or time. The margaritas are excellent. If I had to say anything bad about this place, is that its not an ideal place for business lunch meetings, because it can get very loud.
Just Saying
Not kidding about sound levels. If you're looking for a nice quiet get away, this is not the place. If you're looking for good food and a lively atmosphere this is definately the place to be. If you're feeling adventurous , try the lengua. For all EPT people just remember, a taco here is more like a burrito and a flauta is more Like a taco .. Just saying

Oh man that was good.... Hat tip to Stay Thirsty, he gave the go ahead for this great Mexican place a few months ago. Great neighborhood place in a historic building south of downtown/Riverwalk area. Guacamole, salsa and chips to start (de riguer but very tasty), a michelada (beer bloody mary) for a little spice. I had the mollejas a la plancha (veal sweet breads in a stewed tomato sauce) which now tops my list of best Mexican foods ever stuffed in my face... absolutely fantastic, crunchy, creamy, dense, delicate, etc., etc. My wife had the fish tacos which were superb. Interestingly, my sons kiddie enchiladas were freaking excellent, best enchiladas I've ever tasted. All in all, it's wonderfully located, the service, staff and food are top-notch and they have a heart felt local following that will recommend it to guests, out -of-towners and friends.

Amazing! Always get the ceviche! It's fantastic! The enchiladas with the green sauce are very tasty and it's a great place to get fish tacos or chalupas! I love this place! Every time family comes to visit we bring them here :))
