Halfmann's Cake Cottage

I’m new to town and had to order a cake for my step son’s birthday. I am out of town working, so someone else had to pick it up. I noticed that the named was misspelled. Simple mistake. I used to do cakes for a living, so if I had been home I could have fixed it myself. Instead, they drove to our home, picked it up, fixed it, and brought it back. They absolutely did not have to do that, but I’m so grateful. I’ve never received that kind of customer service before. Thank y’all so much! ❤️

So RUDE! I have ordered plenty cakes, cupcakes and cookies from here for years. Sometimes short notice and other times, there has been plenty notice. Never had a problem. I call to order a birthday cake and was told it would take 2 weeks to make it. Without even asking any questions. So I say "ok. Do you know what I can get by Saturday?" And the lady says "hold on" in a horrible tone, slams the phone down and I hear a nasty little chuckle. I hung up right away. I probably won't be ordering from them again.

We have absolutely loved the cakes and other desserts we have purchased from Halfmann’s. That being said it doesn’t make up for the rude demeanor from the employees. From being asked “Do you think I have time to make extra cakes just to sale?” to the eye rolls when trying to have small talk such as asking “how is your day?” As I stated before the products are DELICIOUS but it doesn’t require a snobby and rude attitude.

I have very fond memories of Halfmann's delicious product from 15 years ago when I was in high school. However, just this past weekend my mother and I felt very unwelcomed during our visit. After being greeted upon entering the shop by a "we're closing soon" despite arriving half an hour before the indicated closing time, we hurriedly browsed over the pie section. We required information over an unlabelled pie and after asking what I considered the very sensible question of "what's in it?" received a combination of rude facial expressions and a curt response. We were caught off-guard by the rudeness of the staffwoman attending us and paused a bit before deciding to leave without purchasing anything. I had heard from others that the service at Halfmann's is not great but having experienced this first-hand confirms the rumors. We will definitely not be returning to Halfmann's again.
