Review Bourbon House - Salt Lake City

Jeremiah Robker
Service, cuisine, people, space, spot on. Felt like I jumped 100 years back in time, like it was illegal to be there. Basement, hallways, dim lit areas. The food was fantastic and arrived on time. The drinks were engineered to perfection. A little tricky to find, but once you do you don't want to leave.

Love what the new management is doing with this place. Food was great, drinks were awesome, food was delicious and the service was fantastic. Definitely recommend!

Incredible atmosphere, Attentive authentically dressed staff. This place will transform you into prohibition era gangster. An eclectic selection of food options that taste as good as they look will help you absorb the incredible liquor selection. The prices are reasonable for the atmosphere and quality of food.

This bar is in a basement and can be hard to spot if you don't know where you are going. It has a cool atmosphere but definitely gets extremely crowded. There is a very small dancefloor. There is no cover charge, so that is nice. Drinks are a bit pricey, I paid $6 for a shot of vodka, but I guess that's how a lot of downtown bars are.

Bourbon house is a gem in a growing city of mediocrity. Offering for a lack of a better term a extremely unique speak easy type experience. You start at the corner of 200 and state and descend into this basement through a dark narrow stare case that opens up to a magical jazzy world only rivaled by J.K. Rowlings Harry Potter epic. Oh and the food...... the food..... foods great and at a great price.

I like Bourbon House because it’s got like a speakeasy vibe and a really great whiskey sour. I took my mama in on her birthday before seeing Wicked and we were able to sit down get drinks and talk before the show. It was a cool experience to share with her. The drinks are decently priced and every time I’ve gone in the staff has always been pleasant and quick.

Dark, quiet, has good cocktails and a good electro chillout playlist. The food is also very good, esp the apple fritter bites on the dessert menu. Open a location in Phx and I will be there.

Cool location. Reservations accepted. Great entrance. Eclectic and creative drink menu. Food was excellent. Ambience was dim, good vibe. Prices very reasonable. Service was very tentative. Our server was hard to find, seemed like she would be gone for large lengths of time. There was another guy (from the bar, I think) that really helped pick up the pace and provide our table with service. I'm sure they are short staffed, but the lack of attention really put a downer on our experience. There was 8 of us.

I love this place! It’s exactly like what I imagine speakeasies from a century ago would have been like — hidden away, accessible down a dim staircase and long hall, then bursting open into this wonderfully decadent place to eat, drink, and enjoy friends. The beer is good, and I love the food — especially the Totchos, tater tots turned into nachos — but everything I’ve had here, I’ve liked. This is one of my favorite hangouts in Salt Lake City. Oh, and for out of towners, someone will ask to see your ID every single time you walk in, no matter how old you are, no matter how many times they have seen you. Don’t be irritated at the restaurant or its folks, because it is the law for all drinking establishments.

Cool bar down in basement of Walker Center. Only had drinks, enjoyed the pisco sour.

came here a month ago and got the Hummus board with a bourbon smash and another drink with absinthe i cannot remember the name. not my avenue of flavors however they were beautifully garnished and tasted great anyway. amazing bartending and quick service even on a busy night. super nice bathroom and a great vibe inside the restaurant. security and bouncers are friendly and helpful. very relaxed and calm and quiet but busy

First time sipping bourbon and wiskey...not bad. The highlight was a 21 year old bottle, wanted the 24 year but they were out. Even had a few rare Japanese ones.

A group of us went on a Friday night, kinda early 9pm to 11pm. The table service was great, the bartender Brad literally made the best drinks I've ever had, we got the Totchos and the ingredients were very delicious and high quality, boxing was on the TV which we appreciated👍we will be back, great unique speakeasy atmosphere.

An amazing find in SLC. A hidden away speakeasy type of bar with a good solid selection of bourbon. Not as extensive of a selection as their sister bar, but much better prices and quieter while still having very high quality bartenders, who are also friendly to speak with. There are some bourbons that are not listed in the menu that are available for drinking; you have to look at the long hallway coming in and you may find some secret bottles that are harder to find and very high quality. So ask the bartender and you may be surprised at the availability and very reasonable pricing. Will definitely go back.

Bourbon House is rad. It is in the basement of a building off the street. It feels like an old speakeasy ... dark, and private. My wife and I dropped in for a drink and were glad we did. Cool atmosphere and vibe, great drinks, and good service. All right in the center of God's country!

The employees are what made the experience for us! McKay (the manager) spent a significant amount of time talking about drinks with us and our server, Peter, was very friendly and attentive. It’s been a while since we’ve gone somewhere with such an attentive staff. We also loved the ambiance. We almost couldn’t find the place and when we did we realized it was kind of hidden on purpose. Going down stairs and a dark hallway totally added to the speakeasy feeling.

Amazing vibe and atmosphere, friendly and super chill staff. Let us watch what we wanted on the telly. The steak and eggs was magnificent. They also have the most educational menu I’ve ever seen, with the history of each alcohol and an excellent selection. Great hidden gem.

Awesome food and drinks! Great for a date night. Very intimate feel and friendly staff. They had this amazing pamphlet included with the drink menu giving the history and proper composition of various types of liquor. Even if you don’t imbibe, it was worth the visit for the food and info alone!

I like this place from 4-7 most days. As it gets later, the smell of hipster douch bags gets much stronger. If that’s your thing, by all means visit after 10 on any Friday.

One of the best bars I've seen yet . best bar experience and all around the staff had such awesome positive vibes .

I loved this place. They made a great drink and it's very mysterious, the entry. Awesome

I use to enjoy this place. But the atmosphere has totally changed. The security is a complete joke. I went into the bathroom stall, peed, then stood up, tucked my shirt in and did my belt up. Upon exiting the stall the security staff was waiting for me. Asked what I was doing in the stall.... uh idk it’s a toilet. I was very aggressively taken to a back room near the entrance and elevator where nobody could see and was searched for cocaine! After they found nothing on me. They proceeded to question me in an aggressive manner. You guys are not the police, you need to change your attitude! After the questions were over one security guy said I’m free then the other said he would encourage me to leave but I’m not being kicked out since they didn’t find anything on me. Embarrassed me in front of my friends and clients that had joined me that night. Congratulations Burbon House. Fantastic service. Would 10/10 recommend if you want to have a terrible night out filled with aggressive questioning, and a in depth frisk (we are talking rolled up jeans, sock removal and show removal, come here).

The food was great and the server we had was fantastic! the only down side was how slow it the food came out. Omg the deviled eggs changed my life!
