I really enjoyed this place but it is closed now! There is another Ethiopian restaurant down the street at about 14th S though that is pretty good too!
The vegetable platter & the beat dish are awesome! Super authentic they also offer a traditional setting if you prefer, which would be fun for special occasion. If you are looking for something new try this place! I had never tried Ethiopian cuisine and now it's one of my favorites, I'll definitely be going back!
This place is amazing!! Every thing from the service to the food. We had never experienced Ethiopian food and were blown away by the flavores. Don't be intimidated by trying something new you will leave satisfied! It's authentic not intimidating.
More Ethiopian =) .... Just normal Ethiopian food. Nothing different from the other 4 I have been to. Some of the vegetable dishes are cooked a bit different. 1 dish I like at Mahider better 1 at Blue Nile.
If one restaurant were to offer a kicker like an authentic drink with a certain purchase I would chose that specific Ethiopian over another. Especially, now that SLC has 3 all within about 3 miles of one another.
Awsome!!! Finally Salt Lake City gets a real Ethiopian restaurant. The food was so delicious and fresh. The atmosphere is simple, but clean. They have a small, but adaquate beer and wine list. Get the meat combo and the veggie combo. I'll be back for sure!!!!
Wonderful Food & Atmosphere. With this being my first experience with Ethiopian cuisine, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. As soon as the food came out and I could smell the wonderful spices used, I knew I would leave Blue Nile having had a wonderful meal. The food was delicious and it is always a plus to feel like you are eating healthy at the same time. The service was great. I am excited to go back and try a variety of the other dishes. The lentils were my personal favorite this time around so I am excited to add other favorites to the list.
A SLC Gem!. My wife and I just stumbled across this restaurant last night. It was absolutely incredible. So clean, great service, exceptional food, unique setting. The owner took the time to give us an explanation of how their bread is made and the intricacies of producing the grain required. Very cool.
AMAZING!!!!. Absolutely loved the food! Very flavorful and authentic. Welcoming atmosphere and great service. Try the lamb it is to die for, and it's perfect for those who prefer no meat. I went with my family, two are vegetarians and two of us eat meat. It accommodated us perfectly and we have a great time. I would recommend this place to everyone!

Very friendly staff, having heard it's the closest cuisine that gets near to Indian cuisine. Hands down, the spices are very similar and the blue mile did a great job of my first time experience with the Ethiopian cuisine. Will definitely visit again. Highly recommended
Delicious Ethiopian food in Salt Lake City can be hard to find. Blue Nile is the place to go. Get the veggie platter, sambusas, and baklava. It's plenty for two healthy eaters at around $20. I've never done it myself, but I hear the coffee ceremony is great.
I just dined here a week ago--fantastic service and food in (what seemed to me) a hole-in-the-wall building. They have worked to create a nice atmosphere inside, and the server was incredibly helpful (since I was not familiar with Ethiopian cuisine). The food ranged from delicious mild dishes (I cannot recommend highly enough their appetizers of fried crust with lentils inside!) to the slow-burning, delectable spicy meat dishes. They have many vegetarian options as well! If you want to try something new for a great price, this is the place!
I am so impressed with this restaurant! I have eaten ethiopian all over the USA and this is the best flavor by far. The location is close to all downtown major hotels and they have a great lunch special from 11am-3pm.
The customer service is great and service is not rushed as it is custom to relax when eating. They have a traditional sitting room and offer a coffee ceremony. You won't be disappointed.
Give these guys a try for sure!!! Make sure to sit at an authentic Ethiopian table and get ready to eat with your hands. I recommend the "Blue Nile Combination" that basically has a little of everything from the kitchen. Also the Tej honey wine made with hops is surprisingly good even for someone like me that doesn't like sweet things or mead. Super unique and tasty help support a truly local business.
Really enjoyed the experience of going to Blue Nile. When you go, get it traditional style! You eat with your hands only!!
The waiters and servers are good people and usually do their best to make you feel good and comfortable while there. It isn't the most private of places to have a conversation, but good to eat and enjoy your dinner and experience something different!
Eating with your hands is so liberating! Give this place a try. If you choose the Blue Nile special platter like we did, it's a messy, filling and delicious mildly spiced meal. Meat and vegetarian available, the special is mixed. Would definitely go again!
Excellent flavor, the staff are all super friendly, and there's almost never a wait. Plus prices are really reasonable. I've noticed I've started craving Ethiopian food all the time!

This place is the absolute best when it comes to Ethiopian food. It is delicious and great variety!
I also enjoy the people there, they are all friendly and provide helpful insight into the dishes.
Great food and really good honey wine (cider). The service isn't as good as most places but thats one of the trade offs of a hole in the wall. 10/10 would eat again.
