Cajun Salmon ravioli, shrimp cocktail, and fried combo were amazing!
We wanted to go to Patria retaurant, but it was closed on Monday, so we went across the street to the Golden Fish. We were surprised how good Salvadoran food was. We had a late lunch with grilled oysters and calamary steak, excellent presentation and flavors and then we shared desert flan and chocolate torte with rasbery reduction. The owner was serving us and he was very friendly. Definitely a go back!
This is a little hidden surprise I think in Salinas.
It's italian and american fair with a mexican twist. I got the catfish and chips, and my husband got a normal Italian pasta dish, but it had a Mexican flair to it, he said it was different but very good.
The catfish was cooked perfectly, with it being nice and moist and not over cooked. The kids split another dish I don't remember the name unfortunately, but it was another Italian marinara dish, with shrimp, and it had the Mexican spice thrown it. It did taste good, but it was a little too spicy for the kids.
Stopped by here on a whim Christmas Eve late afternoon. There were a few folks in the restaurant and a mail carrier was leaving with hot soup – we thought we’d try. What an awesome late lunch, early dinner. I ordered the seafood mix dish and thoroughly enjoyed it. Spouse ordered fish chips. Both good
I love this place! My oldest son took me out for my birthday dinner here at Golden Fish Seafood Restaurant. We were seated outside right in front of the restaurant. I was told it would be cold but with their outside heater on and with my down jacket on, and the decaf coffee we ordered I was pleasantly comfortable at 7:00 p.m.
The owner; Oscar, took our orders and was such a nice friendly man and I told him I was the one who called and asked if they had outside dining.
I ordered the Salmon bowl which I can say rivals the quality of food in Monterey. The salmon piece was large and was cooked to perfection and there was no fishy taste--only the fresh, grilled, light, melt in your mouth flakiness which you would expect from a high end restaurant. The chips were delicious when paired with the mango salsa, regular salsa on the bowl. The beans and rice mixture with red onion and broccoli rounded out the whole meal. Oscar came back to give us the bill and told us his family had helped with the business for twenty-three years, (since 1997),which always speaks volumes that this is a family owned and operated place. Please support your local restaurants--that's what my son and I say.
I would come back again and again to try more delights on their menu.
The website says Salvadoran food. True if the restaurant was seaside in El Salvador. They do have good pupusas, but their menu leans heavily to sea food with a tropical flair so the name is very appropriate. Our dishes were delicious! Perfectly cooked fish with mango salsa. I don't usually go to Salvadoran restaurants for fish, but I will be coming back here either alone or with friends.
Absolutely the best place to eat in Old Downtown Salinas 👌!!!
Absolutely delicious food! Salmon bowl is great. Calamari wrap has delicious piquant sauce. Key lime pie delicious. We sat on patio in the sun. We’re eager to return.
My wife the only non vegetarian loved this place. The lobster bisque was the best. The folks were friendly. Definitely recommend.
