West Salem Barbecue

Excellent with Excellent service. We had the ribs, brisket beans, Brussel Spouts, pulled pork. Ribs done right without being dried out. The BBQ sauce had flavor with a hint of spice and sweetness. Oh and the free chips and salsa also excellent. This is an update. Stop on the way back from our trip. Had the smoked burger which is multiple smoked meats cheeseburger. Nice to get a burger that can be made medium rare. It has its own special sauce but I had to add some of their BBQ which also works on the chips. As a side I had their coleslaw. Very light and would be perfect for adding to a sandwich. Got a quart of their BBQ sauce to go. Can't wait for them to bottle it so I can have it shipped. Forgot to mention this is two places in one. El Jefe and West Salem BBQ. You can park in the back if you don't want to park on the main street.

On my long journey across all the states of the USA, I wanted to end this week with a delicious meat dinner and didn’t for a second regret choosing this restaurant in a city I didn’t even plan to be in today. The meat is great, the Brussels sprouts are unique, the coleslaw is the freshest and the cornbread finishes this fireworks of taste. The most important value and decoration of this restaurant is service. I lost the habit of good service in Florida, today I remembered how it is to be a GUEST and not a client in a restaurant. Thank you Chantelle you made my Sunday evening full of attention and smiles and the chef whose rich taste I so expected.

Salem doesn't have a lot. Especially growing up here. But recently it's been getting better and better restaurants. This is one of them. West Salem BBQ is great! They had some delicious pulled pork, which is honestly alll you need, and the sauce was sweet to a point but not overwhelming. Good accompaniment to the dish. The sides were a bit sad. The beans were good but the Mac and cheese lacked any flavor or character. I would have preferred Kraft. And the cornbread wasn't true cornbread. It was made with flour and some corn flavoring. It was still delicious though. The cocktails were great! I recommend the mule.

This place came up on my Google suggestions a few months back. Just got a chance to check it out and it was good! Both West Salem BBQ and El Jefe share the same kitchen and same menu. They are in the same building g but each with it's own theme. Want tacos? Let'em! Want BBQ...have at it. Enjoyable food and atmosphere. We'll be back!

We are from PA. On our way to GA we stopped. Yummy chips & salsa! I got a pulled pork sandwich & my hubby got ribs with a piece of corn bread. We shared brussel sprouts & brisket beans. All scrumptious! On our way home we stopped again. Again ordered chips & salsa. I got a pulled pork sandwich & house pickles. My hubby got a yummy burger & cole slaw. If I could give 10 stars, I surely would! Service & waitresses were superb! Also got the barbecue sauce to go. Thank you!
