Review Rah'mn - Saint Paul

Eric Majerus
Price? About the same as Noodles and Company. I've no idea where other people are finding massive ramen bowls for less than $10 in the metro. I've never seen one in a dozen ramen places. I really enjoyed the fresh noodles and their take on ramen. It's not purist but I felt like it wasn't trying to be either. The taste was good but not strong so if you are expected a big flavor in the broth this isn't it. Though even with the "spicy" broth and the chili oil, it was quite mild. Also, I quite enjoyed that they serve Sapporo here! Goes great with ramen.

I am not a huge fan of Ramen but I woudl recommend Rah'mn to those who love it. Good portion size, it will fill you up! They do offer gluten free noodles. You pay extra for the protein but they loaded me up! It was my first time there and associate was very patient with me and kind to describe everything. Interior is slick, modern and clean. You do get plastic bowl and disposable silverwear. Overall, recommended!

If you're looking for the real authentic ramen like the ones from Japan...travel to Japan... or grab some instant ramen from your local Asian market. This is Minnesota and Rah'MN provides a good stepping stone for those who want to build their appreciation for Ramen. It's the Chipotle version for ramen. It's easy to order and a healthy option for lunch or dinner. I enjoy the choice to choose what I want in my bowl. I think the name of their business is creative and I wouldn't be surprised if this rose to the top.

Great little ramen place on Snelling, close to Nelson's Ice Cream (for dessert afterwards). Choose your level of heat, type of broth, protein, and fixings. Very tasty! Very filling! Friendly and helpful staff when my family stopped by.

It gives me lots of pleasure to upgrade my initial (two-star) rating. My family first went shortly after they opened, and I was excited by the potential of an affordable ramen place in the neighborhood. Instead, among other new-business growing pains, I wound up paying an awful lot of money for food that seemed really off. Turns out something indeed wasn't right, and they fixed it! We decided to give it one more try the other night, and in the meantime they have clearly figured out how to make their broth recipe work at restaurant-scale (I'm told that was the initial issue). They brought us samples of the broths to taste before ordering, and it was instantly clear that it was vastly different. The soups were great! The white miso is my preference, but if your taste is different there is a pork broth and spicy miso (which is spicier, but not pushing it -- you can add chili sauce if you want that). Among the four of us, we ordered all three, and all were good. And they have a ton of fresh ingredients to customize. (They'll also do noodle salads, as I recall, but my mind was on the soup.) The owner, after evidently being alerted to my previous skepticism of the broths from the first visit, went out of his way make things right. It was much appreciated, and it will pay off for him--we'll be back, for sure, many times. I also want to give him credit for introducing something new to the menu since our first visit: kids' bowls (which don't appear to be noticeably smaller, but are limited to three ingredients). That makes it much more economical for a family to eat out at Rah'mn, and is another reason we'll have lots of return trips. Welcome to the neighborhood, and thank you for responding to those early tough reviews by turning things around 100% on the taste!

This place is AWESOME! The build your own bowl of Ramen is a great idea and who doesn’t like to have all the options?! Do yourself a favor & check it out. The Shoyu broth was on point. The place is super clean & the people working were extremely professional & friendly! I can’t wait to go back.

Very American-ized, highly customizable Ramen restaurant. Even though the vibe, layout, speed, and service style scream fast food, the quality exceeded expectations. There are better ramen places, sure, but this lil ramen spot is well worth a stop for ramen fans and customizable enough to accomodate most tastes.

Service is quick and there are plenty of options. The meat quality is great and there's options for any dietary needs. Ramen is good considering that it's fast casual. The food is ok but completely overpriced. However, the atmosphere is really fun to be in.

I love this place. I go pretty regularly, especially if its cold. I do think it's a bit expensive but I think it's delicious. The staff is so nice, especially the owner who makes it a point to welcome me back every time he sees me. I will keep coming back. Easy, quick, convenient and yummy.

Noodles were mushy, broth was tasteless, left hungry. If you decide to eat here (which I don't recommend), definitely get the spicy miso broth; that's what my husband got, and it wasn't great, but it at least had some flavor. The mushy noodles just blow my mind, though. How do you screw up ramen noodles that badly? You can buy adequate ramen noodles for a dime at the store. It's a great space and I was really excited at the idea of a ramen place in my neighborhood. Super disappointed.

Clean, pleasant atmosphere. Helpful staff. Good concept (Build your own bowl) but I strongly recommend a few (at least 2 or 3) preset, traditional combinations to provide new-to-ramen clientele a full flavor experience. At the very least, make sure the staff is suggesting a savory or seasoned item, or well-complimented ingredients. I will try again.

I liked this place! I tried a ramen bowl with the spicy miso broth. I like how many options there were for veggies! Everything was fresh and the portion was large for the price. Also friendly service which is always nice! I would come here again!

Today was my first time here, ive pasted it a bunch before, but today we decided to try a new place, so that brings us to RAH'MN. It was good. I like the idea of building your own & putting whatever you want on it, this makes it fun and creative cause you can get something different & switch it up everytime. Although i found a couple of knats & a beetle in my bowl, Its super fresh & the ingrediants are brought off the farm sooo i wasnt too bothered by it suprisingly , cause i am scared as shit of bugs. Anywho my son liked it & we will be back again...

I love this place. The food was amazing and the Owner was involved and engaging with his business. This is what a local restaurant should be and I will recommend this place to anyone, even those that don't ask.

Phenomonal concept and a welcome addition to minnesota's fast casual dining environment. This should be repeatable and franchiseable easy because it is a good and easy to reproduce concept. Staff was excited to talk about/explain concept and service was rapid with a reasonable pricepoint. I also think it is a nice transition concept for minnesotans who are scared to go into other ramen places. My knocks are that I really wish they offered dumpling based soups or gyoza as a side and the broth needs more depth. I also didn't order it because the spring rolls looked loosely/slopply rolled - but it is cool they are offering them. Unfortunately as I mentioned the broth came off too Minnesotan for my refined ramen-loving pallet. It really needs an umami kick. I want my broth to have six or seven levels of depth - this one was closer to three. This could be problematic for them since their flagship location is on Snelling ave. It will be hard to wrangle ramen-fiends with solid/good broth when there is great and pho-nominal broth so close. Either way the market is there - give em a few tweaks and they could start popping in in other neighborhoods. Its a better, tastier, and healthier option than most of the fast-casual crap thats out there now.

Edit: on my first visit ( which was during the first two weeks) I gave this place 3 stars. I returned today and noticed the menu changes they made. I loved my order today , and the service was GREAT even though it was very busy. I will absolutely come back , and recommend this place! I liked what I ordered , and would probably try it again with a few different veggie choices. I just wish it wasn't quite so lip clapping salty.

So, so good! The selection was awesome. The broth was delicate and rich all in one- but not overly salty. The owner and staff were so nice. The owner explained that they were working hard to hire more staff and get better every day. I am so proud to have this small business in our neighborhood. Thanks for coming to Saint Paul!

I've enjoyed ramen while visiting New York, LA, LV, San Francisco, etc... I have a good ideal of what ramen should taste like. Not the best ramen in town. We ( whole family) was not impressed with the broth as it was tasteless. To be honest, with little efforts. I can make a better tasting bowl of ramen at home.

My daughter and I happened upon rahmn yesterday. We loved it! At first, I didn't think it had much flavor but I quickly realized I'm used to salt trying to flavor broth. This broth was deep and hearty and beautiful. We loved being able to pick the vegetables and the pork was amazing. I wish it were closer. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Service was excellent and the food was amazing! Everything is so fresh, I couldn't stop eating. I would recommend this place to everyone.

So happy to have this healthy fast casual food option in the neighborhood now. The offerings are a little bland, but I expect to go back and try it out more. I would caution you all to bring a bag if you're getting take out on the soup. The bowl they put it in leaked all over my car seat because the top doesn't really seal super tight to the base.. :-/

Atmosphere – it’s of the utmost importance. When I dine away from home I want to experience all sorts of new things. I want my senses to go crazy, and they did last night at Rah'MN. From the rustic wood tables and walls, to the bright red Rah'MN sign with exposed bulbs, to the super shiny stainless steel pots bubbling away on the stove, I was visually sucked in. Also one of the coolest logos that I have seen. There are so many choices and combinations one could have. It was tough to choose! You can select from a ramen bowl, a salad bowl or a ramen bowl without broth. Select your fresh veggies, add meat, tofu or not, pick a broth, add different oils and sauces and Voilà! Get the egg! Get the egg! You have never had a soft boiled egg like this. All the ingredients are fresh, never frozen! The owner came over and said they don't even have a freezer. The people of MN need FRESH, LOCAL, GREAT food and Rah'MN delivers. Wine, beer and sake will be coming soon!

The concept is promising and it has the potential to be good. The manager/owner and employees are all very friendly and apologetic. We went on Saturday at 1pm with friends and they were totally out of egg - at a Ramen place! All our broths were just barely warm. We'll give it another try and hope they get these issues worked out.

Thank you for bringing this fantastically delicious place to St. Paul, Chris and staff! I loved the braised beef brisket, and all of the fresh veggie options. Keep up the great work, and we'll see you soon!

Just bland. The fresh veggies were great, some of the noodles were stuck in a clump together. The miso broth just didn’t taste of anything at all. We got some of the chicken broth too and it was the same just no flavor. The meat, that is an extra charge was just mush, we were expecting slices not soggy barbecue. Great little shop but needs some tweaking. Service and rewards program is the only thing earning a second chance.
